The Silver lining

Serena woke earlier as would anyone embarking upon a new path, but was this a new path this was an old path just a new teacher. She had made the decision to try this, to work to learn more about this gift of the force with a Jedi trainer.

She had not seen [member="Connor Harrison"] since the day he had won her confidence, and persuaded her to try again. He had been most generous with his time, strange though she remembered almost the whole encounter, the way he spoke of himself, of the order, the humor that he had to ease the situation, and the way he made it all personal.

He had lifted her chin to look into his eyes to show her that he was genuine in what he said, and now here she stood waiting for the new Master.

Serena looked toward the rising sun the rays of orange, umber, red and gold peaking over the far off horizon announcing the new day. A new day, a new journey, and the hopes of what the future could hold.

Serena closed her eyes This is Master number four Serena if you fail, or leave this time it should be the last time. Do not waste their time.
She would not.

She held onto the thought that in three weeks she would be on Onderon jumping into a cave that last measured went at least 2 clicks into the planet, and at the bottom the passage ways to some of the finest crystal caves ever discovered in the galaxy. Many planets from the way they were formed had the potential to have crystal caves.

She was looking forward to the trip.

Patience however was now needed till then.

The sound of the hoverdisc was there as Quenladose sat upon her small seat with her legs crossed. The petite jedi knight let her ankle length purple shaded hair curtain around her while tri-colored eyes watched everything around her. She was curious about the people and what they were doing but they didn't bother her. She had her sabers on the disc and was moving three times as fast if she was walking down the hall so about the average persons speed. It was a wonderful thing and she coudln't believe it for a moment while going towards her new padawan and entering the room on the disc as she spoke. "Hello padawan."

Serena turned to look over at her new master, "Morning Master" there were so many things that could be said this morning Serena chose silence and instead let the day speak for her. The morning of renewal, a new day for new opportunities.

She stood half to her side now looking over at the woman riding the hoverdisk how very interesting, this was definitely a switch from all other master's that she has had. She seemed quite relaxed, and happy perhaps, it was hard to know right now.

"Does my master have a plan for today?" What would they do, where would they start, and how did Serena feel at the moment.

Confident, yes at this moment confident.

Quenladose looked at her padawan for a moment while she tapped the controls for the disc and it went down, slowly the sephi hopped off and stood up to her full height of four feet and tilted her head up while she looked on with tri-colored eyes. A small smile on her face and she spoke. "I have a few ideas, it isn't often or every day I have a padawan." She stiffened for a moment and recalled Rang's first time meeting her. The padawan had been so excited she had nearly suffocated her master hugging her. The small knight wasn't afraid of this one trying that but she didn't want to be passed out again trying to explain that. "But first tell me padawan, what have you been taught?"

[member="Quenladose"]

Serena looked back now not wanting to be rude to the Master, "I have been taught how to sense the force, to perform force push, tepas, the beginning of light saber skills, how to create light, and to do mind trick." She didn't smile she knew what she knew was not a lot.

She looked down at the ground for only a moment as she composed her thoughts then she lifted her gaze to look upon the Master to hear her assessment and what it was that she could teach her. Serena was ready to learn as much as she could, she wanted to learn. She had decided to approach this with an open mind and forget the past for it did no one any credit.

Quenladose looked at her padawan and kept her eyes trained on her as her body was shifting and flickering. She was a disciple of twilight, trained in ancient arts and as her padawan looked away the small sephi knight slowly bent the light around her form. Wrapping it around herself while the last thing to disappear was the silver glow of her eyes. She side stepped for a moment and let her lightweight and frame obscure her before she spoke letting a small giggle that was like silver bells. "Those are very good skills to have padawan." She let the light straighten with her while her hands were behind her back. "I am trained within the arts of stealth and using the elements."

"Elements, you mean like earth, water, air and fire?" Her Master had her attention, as a scientist who worked mainly outside to have knowledge of element would greatly help her work.

Serena watched her Master short in stature for sure but so far it would seem she was interested and possessed skills which complimented Arla. Was the force once again at work in directing her future.

She relied upon it and dared not fret one moment on it.

She gave a nod of her head to that, the elements were something you could command with the force and something that could prove a danger in the wrong hands. She had seen dangerous things done using the environment same as she had seen good and clasped her hands behind her back. "Come along." She was moving letting her purple hair bounce a little as she walked and was going towards the outside. "We will see what you can do and move from there, it isn't everyday I have a chance to test a padawan." In truth she had not done a great deal while searching for Rang who had disappeared but was usually in the Twilight Sepulcher helping the researchers by exploring an mapping the tunnels. She stopped standing there in the grass and turned on her heel with a small smile. "Now I want you to show me a jedi ready stance."

[member="Quenladose"]

Serena thought jedi ready only applied to light saber techniques, placing her dominant foot behind her she pulled her lightsaber and placed it to her dominant side, relaxing herself and opening herself to the force letting it flow over her feeding her senses.

She took a breath and waited.

Quenladose looked at the stance and she moved her feet dividing them a little while two slender sabers came from her sleeves. The purple hilts almost glowing while they activated with a royal purple hue, her eyes watching the girl as she went into a stance making herself smaller and more compact but she was ready to jump while watching the padawans saber. Then she was moving slower then normal to give the girl a chance to track and set the pace the jedi could and should move at. This was a velocities almost and it would speed up but had to make a good pace.

Serena did watch her master her movements, the twitch of her muscles the direction her eyes looked at before she moved. She took these things and remembered that she was on the defend, she waited for the offense to begin.

She did not question where they started or why they started in a single spot. She only knew she could feel the force vibrating awakening her senses, her fingers tingled with excite.

She waited for the first strike.

[member="Serena Bouie"]

Quenladose moved now, her blade coming up but slower, her body moving across the distance with more speed due to her size. She slashed slowly up high for herself so chest sized to her padawan. She didn't do it with intent to kill but to knock her back with the low power setting and give her a chance to defend against it.

Serena hopped backwards and moved to block the strike by bring her blade to meet that of her Master's. She did not make a move to strike back at her, unsure of what this lesson was about, confusing her.

It would appear it was happening again. As much as she wanted to succeed the weight of being unsure was finding its way to her shoulders.

Quenladose continued to look at her and watch as she moved letting her blade come back and go at her again. The second blade joining with it while her words came out and her strike became a snake ascending the waterfall to make her for a brief moment the same size as her padawan. "You hesitate and have doubts?" She came down while continuing. "The heart of a jedi must be sure, must be pure be it for combat, knowledge or the desire to protect all. An unsure heart is a dangerous thing.. it is open to the influences of the sith, open to the poison of the darkside and can be corrupted."

[member="Quenladose"]

Serena remembered what Connor said, "Yes I hesitate, I wonder why it is so important to learn to fight when we are to be Jedi. Is fighting the fore most important task a Jedi has?" In other words was it what this order wanted, warriors that blade work was first.

She tried to control her thoughts and emotions she was so concerned about doing this right, and having the right attitude for it that she found the questions starting to rise up, and questions were what got her into trouble before.

[member="Serena Bouie"]

Quenladose listened and spoke as she moved with the blade work. "There are many more things that go into a jedi then how they use a blade. Your stance can sow if you are aggressive or passive, if you want to fight or are willing to listen. When confronting a dark jedi your blade can protect you while your words work to pierce the darkness in their heart and mind to find out why they fell. Your blade goes from being a weapons to a shield to protect you as you work to save and protect life, to redeem them." She hoped her padawan could understand it, the blade was a tool something for offensive actions but in the right hands you could work it to dig deeper and save others. She moved more now. "A warrior, a scholar, a jedi are first and foremost dedicated to protecting life be it through words and diplomacy, be it through actions with the force or be it with a blade to cut away the darkness. Above all you must remain dedicated and pure otherwise you will be consumed by a tide of dark emotions."

Darkness that was already bubbling inside her had on the very first day she stepped on Voss. She looked at her Master, "Not everyone is proficient with a blade, and it is truly only a tool. I know I must know how to use it, how to wield its power, but there are other skills that also define Jedi. This" she wiggled the weapon slightly, "is a tool for peace"

Or at least she thought it should be. "One should only display this weapon if they are prepared to die, and prepared to kill" That was the teachings she had been taught before, did this master think differently, "Do you not agree?"

[member="Serena Bouie"]

"Heavily.... but I am old padawan. I have lived longer then most and there is a very different perspective gained of the galaxy when children can lift you up and move you out of the way. Peace is a noble goal, should be the goal but it is not something we will always get, it is not something gained through being aggressive or passive. Become to strict, to unmoving and you'll only face resistance... become to passive and you'll face nothing but ones trying to exploit. A sad truth to the hearts of humans who will seek with everything going good for them more ways to try and stack the deck in their favor. Some will cheat, some will lie, will kill and manipulate. Others will be victimized, they'll be enslaved for no other reason then others believe they have the right. That is why jedi have power, not because our might makes us right because we can use our might for right, use power to protect, to defend. Do it with a pure heart and pure intentions and many wonders can happen."

Serena stood there listening she had already doubts about being here, and now it was clear that her Master thought that she did not belong here, and that she was already a failure due to her being human.

Perhaps this was all she needed, she would be disappointing Connor for which she was truly sorry, but how does one learn from a Master that already thinks them worthless.

"Well Master sorry to have intruded upon your precious time" Serena stepped back and sighed. She had made a mistake, and she had promised that if she failed this time, she would not try again.

Quenladose looked at the girl and stood there as she brought her sabers to her hips deactivating them. "Is that it padawan?" Is that all you have? You meet resistance and give up? You do not have something go your way and just quit?" She didn't huff but it was something she could have done, she moved crossing her arms and it looked like a child doing it but there was that air a sephi could create of almost tangible arrogance. "What are you going to do when your next master provokes the same questions? Just give up and sulk? You are a jedi, more then that you are a person. Show some spirit, show some confidence, the force chose you to do what others can't, it chose you to protect innocent lives and you want to doubt yourself. With that mindset you shall always fail."
