Warning! The following Entry contains spoilers from Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
Understanding that the Jedi had lost their way in the galaxy several notable members of the newly formed Trade Council Order gathered in order to discuss the future of the Jedi's role in the galaxy. Many arguments were made on the dissolution of the militant Jedi Orders as well as their holds of galactic government bodies and involvement in planetary militaries, an argument that in time was adapted leaving the Jedi with a newfound need for identity.
It was within the databanks of Jedi [member="Kira Vaal"]’s ship; The Millennium Falcon that they found the first mentions of a guide used in the formation of the New Jedi Order nearly eight hundred years prior as well as notes made on the locations and contents of these texts. Realising that they had little to no other means of forming a new purpose in the galaxy while the Sith and Imperial forces reigned supreme the Order dispatched the Falcon and a crew into the galaxy to hunt down these apparent sacred texts and return them to the Order so that a generation of New and proper Jedi could rise from the ashes of the old.
The Sacred Texts are a small collection of ancient writings made by the Jedi Order over its vast and confusing history. Within the original texts, were said to be ancient scriptures, lost Jedi teachings of Wisdom as well as methods on the learning of abilities long considered abandoned to the more recent Jedi Orders. Formed through a series of eight books and a number of scrolls the texts were handed through the generation of the Jedi and were involved in the rebuilding and reformation of the Order after their near complete destruction by the Dark Years of the Empire.
Of the original eight tomes, only six were found by Arcanus and the Jedi team sent to recover them from their resting places around the galaxy, of the other two one was no more than dust while the other was lost, potentially still out there in the galaxy somewhere. However, within the ones that were returned to the Order held a treasure trove of information on the early foundation of the Jedi as well as many teachings on the non-militant stylings of the years leading up to the destruction of the Jedi Order. Along with countless notes and scrolls made by notable Jedi Masters who had possessed the books at one point or another, the Order began to make quick work of translating and rationalizing to form the backbone for their new order.
