OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: To create a background group for Ssloak-Goa and to utilize in other subs as a work force

GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Religion Name: The Rune-Cult
  • Religion Type: Force-Based Polytheism
  • Influence: Interplanetary
  • Influence Area: Small pockets scattered around the edges of the galaxy
  • Symbol: The primary symbol of the Rune cult (shown above) symbolizes the two Great Witches and the Great Warlock who founded the faith and was apparently written by them.
  • Description: The Rune-Cult is a religion focused entirely on power, the acquisition of power, and the hoarding of knowledge relating to power. Those within the faith seek to learn of the dark side through the runes and tomes hoarded by the faith and through conjuring the ghosts of previous dark sided individuals. The Rune-Cult very rarely concerns itself with the non-tangible, preferring clear results and concrete evidence to their studies of Magick and the force. However, the Rune-Cult does not supplant many's native religion as the Rune-Cult teaches that all deities are at least in some way real, many simply absorb the Rune-Cult and its focus on power into their already existing faith.

SOCIAL INFORMATION
  • Founder: The founders originate from Dathomir and are simply described as two powerful 'Great Witches' and their brother a 'Great Warlock'
  • Membership: Membership is easy to acquire, but it is for life. Those who attempt to leave the cult are often hunted down and used in the cult's grisly experiments or rituals. When one joins they do so as an acolyte, taught only the very basics to act as a cog in the machine of those above them in the casting of complex spells, or fulfilling complex rituals. If one proves their devotion, or potential, their higher ups may seek to personally tutor them and thus raise them through the ranks. Yet even the very basic knowledge offered to acolytes can make them extremely dangerous to non force users.
  • Sacred: Dark holocrons, dark texts, the items/remains that belonged to powerful dark sided force users, and dark side force nexuses.
  • Dogma:

- Deities in Concept: Most of the Rune-Cult has abandoned named deities, believing that names are simply invented by various cultures to represent the true unknowable beings behind the fate of the galaxy. Deities are instead referring to as the Paragon of Nature, Paragon of Gluttony, and etc with the Paragon of Power being the head of the dark side of the pantheon. Most concepts both physical and non-physical have a 'Paragon' assigned to them. Paragons with wider 'realm' are usually more powerful than those with specific ones who they may lord over. For example, the Paragon of Nature, which is a neutral entity, is believed to rule over the Paragon of Predators a dark entity, or the Paragon of Water a light entity. This creates a pyramid like structure with the Paragon of Power and Paragon of Peace at its tip ruling over their respective side of the force. Some members, especially when speaking with Acolytes, will use a deities name or simply invent one to build a legend / character for the weaker willed or less knowledgeable to worship blindly instead of trying to explain to them the true unknowable nature of the divine.

- Sainthood of the Powerful: Those in history who were powerful dark side wielders and used their power to make marks on the galaxy are considered in some way divine, a personification of the dark side itself or the various Paragons aligned to the dark. Most notable Sith, Witches, Knights of Ren, etc are a part of this list, including few living members who sometimes do not even know of the Rune-Cult's existence.

- Secrecy Incarnate: The Rune-Cult believes in that the galaxy is in constant conflict between light and dark, and that in order to prevent the light from succeeding they must keep the Rune-Cult a secret at all costs.

  • Reputation: The Rune-Cult is known of, but secrecy is paramount with the cult often hunting those down who know of its existence against the will of the cult.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION

The Rune-Cult has existed for most of the galaxy's history, growing and incorporating dark-sided religions into their ranks for millennia. They operate within the shadows, desperately trying to keep even a mention of their existence from any history book or resource they know of.
