The reversed D showing how fortune favored in defeat. And the V standing for the victory within it.
The Hooded Rogue. Believed to be Rayl Wilded himself. Unconfirmed.

Intent: To create a commemorative coin for the Invasion of Nar Shaddaa that carries with it a value far beyond that of an average coin.
Development Thread: N/A
Manufacturer: Black Sun
Model:
Affiliation: Black Sun / Anyone
Modularity: No
Production: Semi-Unique | A pocketfuls worth exists in the Galaxy.
Material: Silver

Strengths:

  • Confers one favor so long as it is within the recipients power to accomplish.

Weaknesses:

  • Just showing this coin around someone other than the intended recipient might get you killed for it. You never know who has knowledge of its worth.
  • Even though the coin has its shrouded meaning bound by a code of honor. Someone can always break tradition and refuse to honor it. At the potential loss of their own.
  • Its value is in the belief and knowledge it has worth. Otherwise all you have is a bit of silver.
  • You lose the coin to who you ask a favor of.
  • No trade backs.

Description:

Years ago, The Republic launched an invasion against The Black Sun Syndicate on their capital, the moon of Nar Shaddaa. There is a great deal of debate as to the reasons behind the invasion, and who is to blame for the aggression. The Republic forces, lead by Jedi Grandmaster [member="Selena Halcyon"]. Deemed Black Sun had attacked its diplomats. They brought an invasion fleet from the Core Worlds to the heart of Sun Space to rescue them. In the opening minutes before fighting broke out. Both the Grandmaster and Black Suns leader, [member="Domino"], traded words. This exchange was recorded by the Vigo and brought her side of the story to light. If she is to be believed. Blame falls solely on The Republic. Unfortunately she also resigned and left the moons deference to its security officer, @Gundark to hold it. It was madness, it was chaos, it was war!

The opening salvos came up as Gundark ordered the planetary defenses to fire at the fleet. The Sith Empire had arrived with Emperor Lussk himself. Unfortunatly he was rather useless in helping since the opposing fleets never engaged each other. Because down below on the surface, the Jedi 'diplomats' were no longer so, and were fighting the security forces on the surface to destroy the generators for the planetary shield. They of course were successful in doing so.

The loss of shielding, horrendous disorganization, and inaction of the Sith forced a Pirate by the name of Rayl Wilded to rise to command. The situation was hopeless, so he opted for negotiation rather than waste their lives. Contacting the Grandmaster he was able to organize a cease fire and go tot he table. Fighting continued on the ground for some time though. At this time, the Sith fleet also departed following the request of Black Sun.

Negotiations were headed by Wilded, who brought along Mr. Ash and Vex Tythion. Both higher ranking members of the few who stuck around. The Republic headed by their Grandmaster brought the three diplomats who had went an engaged in hostilities, Diana Moridena, Daella Apparine, and [member="Sopher"] Jakobs. [member="Joshua DragonsFlame"]. It was a one sided deal from he start. Rayl surrendered the moon but thanks to Mr. Ash they retained pretty much all their assets.

The invasion marked a definite turning point in the Galaxy. With Black Sun out of the action, The Republic marched on the Sith Empire to crush it in one of the largest wars since. Black Sun never truly recovered, while they reached their peak latter than this loss. They never reclaimed the moon, sharing the system since they retained control of Nal Hutta. A bitter reminder.

A year after the one day battle had ended. A coin was minted to commemorate the event. It was meant to symbolize that even in defeat the vanquished can come away with a victory and their heads still held up. They were ordered destroyed by Wilded himself. And much of them were. Melted back down to ingots of silver to be used for something else or sold. Fortunately some survived. A handful pocketed that were eventually disseminated throughout the galaxy.

They took on a new meaning over time and being traded from one owner to another. A symbol of honor in the criminal underworld. After the invasion and up to their collapse. Black Sun defied what The Republic branded them as. Merciless killers and thieves. All the worst society has to offer. And while they may have been folks of ill repute to them with much truth. They showed they were worthy of being a nation. Far more than the criminal empires that came after them.

The coins were now traded for a single favor. This favor could ask for anything. So long as it was in the power of that being asked to accomplish. It had to be done. Though to ask within reason and not wish the impossible or extreme was how one should operate its use. The coins holder denoted from the previous that they were an honorable and trustworthy person to deal with. While they are as much traded in good faith as they were stained with blood. And many are willing to spill as much blood as necessary to obtain one. There's no denying the Rogues Coin has come to truly represent the old ideals of Black Sun, many criminals throughout the Galaxy, and that ancient phrase, Honor Among Thieves.
