Description: Jedi Master Kian Karr has, for several years, utilized the typical robes of a Jedi Shadow. However, after numerous clashes with lightsaber and blaster wielding opponents, it became clear that Kian was in need of an armor that was more flexible, but also provided a greater degree of defensive capabilities. In addition, the robes needed to be compatible with Kian's duties as a Shadow.
From this need, these robes were born. The robes can be divided into three sections. Section 1 is the first layer of clothing and consists of a pair of light grey tunic and pants. These are constructed of a fine armorweave mesh, are long-sleeve, and provide the first layer of defense. Section 2 is the middle layer and consists of a dark grey set of robes that are placed overtop of the tunic and pants. The top piece looks very much like a vest and covers the shoulders down to the gut and lower back while the lower piece is a split skirt that covers from the just below the knees up to the waist on both the front and back. Both these pieces are also made of armorweave, though Section 2 is of a heavier, more sturdy stock than section 1. Finally, section 3 is a hooded cloak made of armorweave as well. This is not typically worn by Kian in combat and is rather used for going "incognito" when on assignment. Due to the fact that hooded cloaks such as this are cumbersome, Kian typically takes this off before engaging in combat. The cloak is covered in geometric lines and patterns similar to those that cover the buildings on Dorin, Kian's homeworld.
Worn over Kian's forearms are black arm guards that cover from the back of his hands up to his elbows. The gauntlets are made from Cortosis mined from the planet Bel'demnic and are emblazoned with the emblem of the Jedi Order. Kian's boots are made from Cortosis as well and black just like the gauntlets. While the armorweave robes Kian wears are meant to defend more from blaster fire and provide on minimal defense from lightsabers, the gauntlets and boots are designed to protect Kian's extremities from lightsaber strikes. The Cortosis is able to resist lightsaber cuts and, on occasion, short out the blades.
Given the light nature of these robes, Kian is able to move far more easily than in his previous robes. These robes allow Kian to move about virtually unencumbered on the battlefield. The gauntlets and boots provide defense from lightsaber strikes, as does, for a limited amount, the armorweave material in the robes and tunic. However, the robes are not without their weaknesses. For one the armorweave only provides limited, glancing protection from lightsaber attacks. Additionally, while the layering of the armorweave is helpful in providing further protection, it is segmented as to provide mobility. This can be exploited by an opponent by targeting weak points in the armor (e.g., the armpit and other joints).
