Location: Duros, Battlewell Security and Arms HQ, Top Floor
Objective: Retire
''Mr. Ke'Cholo, the buyer has arrived.'' the intercom atop Ke'Cholo's desk displayed a pulsing blue light that was synchronized with the speech of his secretary. He nodded to himself, remaining silent. He looked around at the people in the room. His eyes grazed across Xolag, a Witch King who Ke'Cholo had relatively recently hired from Endor. The two had formed a strong bond together in recent times, participating in several high-profile protection jobs. Next he looked towards Zobacca, his chief engineer. He looked at his hands, his hairy, grease-stained, coarse, callous-ridden hands that had worked for Ke'Cholo for so many years without complaint or rude remark.
Ke'Cholo felt tears well up his his eyes.
Ed, his android bodyguard placed a hand on his shoulder, firmly squeezed and then patted him several times. Ke'Cholo looked up and smiled, his mouth ever so slightly quivering. He then turned to a picture on the wall of the two Geonosian brothers he had partnered with so many years ago, now permanently hospitalized due to a cruel attack nearly a decade ago.
Tears streamed down his face in a river of emotion.
He looked towards a picture on the wall of himself and [member="Miss Blonde"], side-by-side, smiling on some fire-stained foreign planet. The two were joyful, and much younger, his arm around her shoulder, perhaps celebrating some recent victory. She had been his dear friend and even his mentor for so many years. She was one of the first he called when he had accepted the buy-out of Battlewell Security and Arms. How was Blondie doing now? He would have to check up soon.
A single tear dripped out of his left eye.
Lastly, he turned to Qaeth Idos. The cybernetic Mon Calamari was where he usually was, right by Ke'Cholo's side. He was stoic, as usual. Suddenly, he frowned when he looked down at the obviously upset Ke'Cholo. Qaeth spoke up.
''You don't have to do this.'' he was obviously earnest.
''Yah, I have to.'' Ke'Cholo said. He swiveled around in his chair and looked down the building towards the training grounds. He saw various groups of mercenaries being trained, drills being run and scenarios being enacted. His tears watered the carpet in the room. He wondered how much he would miss it. He turned back to the group assembled in the office.
''I-'' Ke'Cholo's voice cracked. He grunted and wiped away the tears, sobering up.
''I'd li'e to t'ank all of you. We've had a great run. You've all done your part' and done 'em well. I've purchased a series of villas on Naboo, near Theed. You're all offered one, e'ery single one of you. Y'h pensions should be lar' enough to sustain you.'' several members of the crowd teared up. A chime was heard emanating from the door. Ke'Cholo wiped away any more tears he might have had and turned towards the door, opening it with a press of a button on his desk.
The Buyer stood behind the door, accompanied by a menacing Super Tactical Droid. Ke'Cholo verbally welcomed them as well as gesturing the two to sit, offering a chair in front of his desk. The buyer sat while the droid stood guard by his side, mechanical arms behind his back.
''Well, I guess der's no'ding else left t' ne'otiate 'bout. We've gotten everything work'd out, haven't we?''
''If you're satisfied, so am I'' the buyer's voice was as smooth as a polished krayt pearl. He smiled, revealing ivory white teeth. He slid a single, off-white piece of paper across the desk, accompanied by a black and gold ink pen. Ke'Cholo smiled, his bottom lip returned to quivering. Battlewell was his child. This seemed to be the culmination of his life. His time with the Techno Union as a bounty hunter, receiving experimental treatments, and then breaking away to form his own piracy group prepared him as a person. His early time with the Geonosian brothers, the Tet, and with Blondie, especially with Blondie were some of his most memorable experiences. His aid to the SJO freed from his past and made him a free man, allowing to to radically succeed with Battlewell.
He picked up the pen.
Thinking back to his mother who died during his childbirth and his alcoholic father, now deceased, he wondered what they would say if they could have seen their little boy all grown up.
He would have traded it all, and ten times more for that opportunity.
Ink stained paper, and the deal was done.
The Buyer smiled, and Ke'Cholo seemed to quickly sober up. He felt a great weight lifted off his shoulder. Several members of the crowd clapped, several cried, everyone was emotional...except the buyer and his droid. The two awkwardly stood around, unsure of what to do. Secretly among the crowd, there was an overwhelming since of hatred and anger towards the buyer, his plans for the company were radically different than the current ones. Plus, the air of overconfidence about him put most of the current staff off. Eventually the excitement wore down. Ke'Cholo and the buyer changed positions. The buyer fell back into the warm leather chair and smiled, the crowd grew quiet.
''Thank you, Ke'Cholo, for this opportunity. Enjoy your retirement.'' he smiled and winked.
''Now if you'll excuse us, but I'd like to have a moment with the staff in this room.'' Ke'Cholo frowned and shuffled out of the room, followed by Ed. The buyer stood up and spoke.
''As many of you know, I'm going to be running things a lot differently than K did. I know what I'm doing...if you doubt my abilities, want to retire, or are still loyal to Ke'Cholo...any excuse, you're more than welcome to leave. Otherwise, you all have a place in my company.'' he smiled and looked around the room.
Xolag was the first to leave, he remained silent as he did so, his cape fluttering with every footstep.
Qaeth, the most respected member in the room, awkwardly shifted the weight from metallic leg to the other before speaking up.
''No one...No one, could run the company better than K did. I'm sure of that.'' he defiantly stated, unusually out of character for him. He bounded out of the room followed by all the other secretaries, officials and managers.
The buyer stared at the Wookie, Zobacca, his skin black and his paws grease-stained.
''I've still got some projects I need to finish.'' he said through his speech synthesizer and smiled.
''You're a smart cookie, wookie...you know that right?'' the buyer smiled.
OOC Info:
I've already done enough writing, so I'll keep this short and sweet. Ke'Cholo is retiring (obviously), and Battlewell is transferring ownership to ''The Buyer'' who is my new writer character I'm working on. Most of Ke'Cholo's companions as well as his weapons are going leaving with him, save a custom ship he has. I'm trying to revamp and revitalize Battlewell and this seems like the best way to do so. With the recent freedoms granted to companies, I plan on jumping in the starship creating realm, as well as continuing all current avenues. While Ke'Cholo isn't dead and could very possibly make appearances for future threads, he is mostly out of the picture. I'd gotten bored with the green giant, there's only so much tough guy mercenary stuff you can do. I appreciate everyone who has threaded with my over the years. This is not the end, this is just a new beginning.
Message To The Public and Shareholders -KeCholo ((this is what you react to!))
''It is with both great sadness and great hope for the future, I announce the sale of Battlewell Security and Arms. BSA was recently sold to an independently wealthy buyer, who wishes to remain anonymous at the time. BSA is in great hands, and the future is bright. As for me, I'm doing well. This sparks the beginning of my retirement, I have more than enough money to live comfortably now, which I intend to do. My only requests are these. Firstly, support BSA as much as you ever had. The company is going places no one expects, and that will surely yield results no one can comprehend. Secondly, please let me and me companies live out our retirements. I've quit the mercenary business for good, I'm too old and too jaded now. This isn't the end, it's just a new beginning.
But, whatever you do, always remember to...
BATTLE WELL!!!''
