Intent: To provide the Lords of the Fringe with a Command Ship for the position of Arbiter, and to serve as a prototype for the Obstinate-class Star Destroyer.
Development Thread: Ship schematics acquired here (might as well cash this in now)
Manufacturer: Invictus Aeronautics (design); Sienar Fleet Systems (manufacturer)
Model: Obstinate-class Star Destroyer (prototype)
Affiliation: Lords of the Fringe
Modularity: None.
Production: Unique
Material: Durasteel, Transparisteel, Refined Trimantium (Command Tower and Engines only)

Description: As an ambitious CEO of a smaller astronautics firm, Alen Na’Varro realised the need for a flagship product that would put Invictus Aeronautics on the map and show off their ability to design excellent starships. As an Arbiter of the Fringe Confederacy, Na’Varro also got to know the specifics of the Fringe fleet in detail. He became fascinated with the concept of strengthening an already strong fleet, and quickly gained inspiration for a command ship that would compliment the Fringe’s other command ships, especially the Isard-II Star Destroyer. Knowing well that a top-tier command ship would put Invictus Aeronautics on the map, he began work on a prototype for the Obstinate-class Star Destroyer. The result was the Redoubt.

At 2000 metres and brimming with guns, the Redoubt is a large assault-style ship that aims to be able to handle itself in a firefight by itself, while being able to work in tandem with the Isard-II in large fleet engagements, while also being able to work as a flagship in a Fringe fleet. Heavily shielded, the prototype Obstinate-class vessel can take heavy punishment and deal it out as well. 10 heavy long range turbolaser batteries are its main armament, so the ship is capable of fighting at great range. Beyond its main armament, the Redoubt has mixed heavy guns, though it is weighted towards heavy turbolasers. The vessel also boasts heavy ion cannon and heavy mass driver batteries, hoping to cover all bases in that regard, while retaining a mostly conventional, though weighted towards heavy, armament. It also has a mixed bag in regards to warhead launchers, hoping to deal with different threats. The heavy warhead launchers are armed with HELIX submunition warheads, a technological development of the Lords of the Fringe.

The Obstinate-class prototype’s defensive guns are weighted towards flakguns. These are not only aimed at protecting the vessel from starfighters and warheads, but also screening for the Isard-II as well while its shields are down. This also explains the Redoubt’s higher starfighter count. Na’Varro made a conscious decision to drop the amount of gunships and dropships considerably to make room for more starfighters as well as a gravity well generator, which separates the Redoubt from its future sister ships. The Redoubt is suitably unique in that regard. The vessel also has a much, much smaller count of troops on board in comparison to other vessels of this size. Most command ships are designed to carry a large ground force on board, though the Redoubt only has enough facilities for a battalion, or equivalent.

Against other Assault Command Ships with a heavier weighting towards heavy guns, the Redoubt is likely to struggle. It is also slow and ponderous, designed to “tank” in firefights, but is unsuited for any other role. All-in-all, the Redoubt is an excellent ship but not without its weaknesses.

This thing is grossly over the limits on gun count, both capital and defense guns. It's hanger doesn't match up either. You've got an effective 1,100 capital guns and 170 defense guns. These numbers need to be trimmed, considerably.

I blame this on my lack of sleep recently. "Quad laser batteries" has been edited to "quad lasers" and "heavy long range turbolasers" has been changed to "long range turbolasers". Those numbers should add up.

Removed all gunships from the hangar. It now has 36 starfighters and 10 transports, which has more starfighters but way less dropships, no heavy dropships, and no gunships.

After reviewing the submitted development thread, it has been deemed insufficient to count as a development thread for this ship. Extensive searching of the thread yielded only two posts that hinted at the acquisition of ship schematics. Development threads require at least ten quality posts in order to be counted. My suggestion would be to simply do a short dev thread (this isn't asking for anything crazy or restricted) and simply run over construction, detail its necessity and what function it'll serve, and maybe stop a would-be terrorist or two.
