Ancient_Drone_Control_Chair_by_The_Sniper_9.jpg

Intent: To create a special throne for the regents and leaders within the sith empire who enforce the will of the Dark lord
Development Thread:
Manufacturer: Sasori Research
Model: Throne
Affiliation: Order of the Silver Jedi
Modularity: Information can be added to
Production: Semi Unique (only for powerful enforcers)
Material:
  • Duracrete
  • Crystalline Lattice
  • Mephite Crystal
Description:
Constructed from simple building materials that have been smoothed and cut into the shape of a throne. The head being inserted with a mephite crystal one of the most basic for sabers and easily found, the crystalline lattice constructed and crafted within the stone to appear dark red on the black stone. It is fashioned on the same idea of a holocron, able to be filled and augmented with information that the ruler wishes to be preserved. Ancient knowledge, hidden state secrets, or a record of their rule upon the throne. The Sith master when it was made didn't judge or know what they would input into it and has no control over it.

The throne is the only way to access the holocron as it pulses and glows red and activates. A powerful sith or darkside might (emphasis on might" be able to spread a taint into it much like a sith holocron and subtly corrupt others who try and use it or put a piece of their spirits within it but that requires a strong knowledge of how to add to holocrons. The storage space of a holocron is large, the bigger the holocron the greater the storage space (example great holocron and codex) the limits are to users ability to input information safely without destroying the thrones structure. The ability to recall is based on the gatekeeper and the link it uses to give information based on what is needed at the time.

Limitations:
  • Only skilled users can add to it (requires a knowledge of how to use and add to holocrons)
  • Set to the ruler of the planet and those above them for access
  • Restricted to a single location and cannot be moved easily once set
  • Gatekeeper can restrict and allow information as needed

I'm going to do some research on this. In the meantime, perhaps you could elaborate a bit more on the workings of the chair. Given an ancient system like this, are there any risks to using it? Limitations to what information it can store or recall?

[member="Ayden Cater"] It is just a basic holocron, you could break it if your aren't careful adding to it. Prolongued use of it wouldn't be bad... more numbness from sitting for so long I'd imagine and limitation is you can't take it with you around the galaxy. This is mostly meant to add some spice to Sith thrones with the chance for them to become something in their own right. They can now hold knowledge, hold power or in some cases if it is a strong enough sith or force user hold their spirit and they can slowly try and drive someone mad. but there is no ancient system, it is just using technology and knowledge in a different way. It add nothing more to the process except giving you a place to sit while you review your holocrons information and as we know from them they are.. unique when it comes to storage limits.

So I'm going to draw the obvious parallel; how does this compare to Stargate's Repository of Knowledge and the Chair on Destiny? Is this just a fluffy, alternate way to describe how someone accesses the knowledge of the holocron, or is this more like the aforementioned and can download the information into the occupant's mind? If this is the latter then this can be approved, but if the information can be downloaded into someone else, or new knowledge added and downloaded later, then we'll need to discuss things a bit further.

[member="Ayden Cater"] This is a new way to use a holocron and access it. While being ab,e to download into someones mind would be cool this isn't a rip of the chairs. It can't control anything in a palace well okay maybe there can be a dimmer switch on the chair to set the mood for reviewing.

Alright. As long as it's just a different interface for accessing the holocron and does not permanently transfer knowledge or control anything, I'm okay with it. If it's discovered to be utilized in that manner, we'll have to bring it back out and re-evaluate it.

Approved, pending secondary approval.
