Years ago, what would have been considered a feral virus, one controlled by the primal instincts to only consume, and infection. To spread the virus to any others. Working under that of a Hive Mind. Domination over sentience by way of learning from assimilation. It was only inevitable that with time, those who happened to continue to survive against the will of others, would eventually garner Intelligence of those who sought to end them. A singular Hive Mind becoming stronger every passing year.
And so, formed the Rancidus Order. One of individuals bound by the promise of Immortality, Freedom, Power, and Anarchy. A hive of Decay and destruction that hungered only for more. Thriving against the Galactic powers that be, to spread their seed, Infect all who are willing, or unwilling, with the pure intention of only survival. No government, no body of ruling power. Only the strongest of Infected push forward. Ever so willing to continue a path of Dust and Decay in their wake.
While the original strain came from that of the infamous Blackwing Virus, this newest strain, one much more devastating, one much more infectious and liberating all the same. Providing those who accept its gifts powers beyond the natural physical limitations of their species. None are barred from such gifts. Gen'Dai, Yuuzhan Vong, Human, Falleen, It matters not. All who join in the unholy matrimony of the Plague, will become free of their bonds. Holden to no limitations of the flesh.

A: No. While you certainly can be if you want. The Rancidus Order takes advantage of those who are also simply "infected" with the virus to spread or run Covert-operations in different cultures, civilizations and planets. And since virus's effect all species differently, you as the writer are free to go hog wild on how that might look, take or affect your own character. It may run its course quickly, slowly, remain dormant or whatever your mind can think of.
Q: Is there a specific species/role I need to play, or is it open for whatever I want to do?
A: Much like Chaos itself the faction functions as a sandbox. Under the guise of further spreading the virus and further its evolution. There is much you could do. Its limited only to your own imagination and if that is a difficult start thats OK. There is already a story being developed.
Q: How is the faction aligned with the force and is there a place for force users?
A: Naturally the faction is Neutral/Darkside aligned. Space zombies are rather..unnatural. There is a place for infected force users. =)
Q: How is the faction structured? What is its hierarchy?
A: The Rancidus Order in function can be best described a type of Collectivist Anarchy. There are no set or defined social hierarchies. All within the grasp of the plague are accepted and bond within one ideal. The virus. Think of the rest of the galaxy as a machine or factory and the Rancidus Order is the means to its end. Seeking to abolish or absorb the forms of government it has and enlighten the masses.
Q: If I joined does this mean the virus controls me?
A: Yes and No. If you want it to control you go for it. If you want it to work with you then go for it. If you want to control it.... are you catching my drift? There is no right nor wrong answer as long as you "spread".
