SETTING INFORMATION
Spaceport Name:
The Pit
Spaceport Classification: Stellar Class
Location: Asteroid Belt near Ziugen, off road from the Shag Pobal hyperlane
Affiliation: Hutt Space Consortium
Population: Moderately Staffed
Demographics:
The Pit has a large mixture of various aliens and humans pulled from all across the Galaxy, be they slaves confined to their cells or the unsavory sorts who find themselves at home within the halls of The Pit
Accessibility: While not particularly difficult to find if one truly does wish to come out and pay The Pit a visit, the station is the pinnacle of “out of the way”, sitting off the beaten path from the Shag Pobal hyperlane: an already minor hyperlane to begin with. Larger capital ships and poor pilots will have a particularly hard time due to the thickness of the asteroid belt The Pit resides in.
Traffic: Moderate
Description:
The Pit is a Shadow-Port that sits as one of the pinnacles of “scum” in scum and villainy, The Pit is a spot for all sorts of slavers and beastmasters making their way across the Shag Pobal hyperlane: and while slaving may not be the business it once was, The Pit still draws in some visitors. Both market and prison, The Pit facilitates all manner of slaving-related businesses, be it the sale of other sentients, pit fighting, and the foul machinations of illegal cybernetic modifications to less than willing participants. The Shadow-Port is rather unassuming at first glance, shielded by a blanket of other lesser asteroids the scope of the station is hard to immediately gleam: though once past this initial barrier, one can gaze upon the cityscape carved into the planetoid, a mass of downward facing spires and dozens of various landing bays, ports, and while not as many as before: a fair few other craft making up a careful traffic around the shadow-port.

POINTS OF INTEREST
The Pit -
The area that gave the station its name, The Pit is a massive prison complex that occupies almost the entirety of one of the spires that makes up the stations. The vast majority of the slaves transported to and from the Pit are stored here: as well as the vast majority of the station’s security fortresses. The Pit is a sorrowful place of dim lights, pained cries, and crushed hopes. Eating away at all but the most wicked and callous of hearts, descending down for hundreds of feet is the thousands of cells the pit supports: while in the modern day they may not end up as filled as they once were, only the upper cells usually having occupants now once the entirety of The Pit was filled with slaves.
Arena of Baolish - Named after a patron from long ago, the Arena of Baolish is a large gladiatorial arena where slaves and beasts alike are pitted against each other in blood sports for the amusement of cheering crowds, helping fund the station via the betting that follows alongside it. The Arena is able to shift its form and the dangers within to allow for a new experience every fight if the crowd so demands. Despite the relatively commerce-focused nature of The Pit, the arena is ultimately where it makes the majority of its credits.
Dockyards - The many dockyards that line the station, these hangars of various size are heavily geared towards repairs and refueling the various slaver craft that make their way through the Shag Pobal: it is a mess of noise from machines and deckhands alike as they move their way to repair any who come into The Pit, no questions asked. For the right price, at least.
Commerce Well - Making up the central spire, the Commerce Well facilitates all the sales and business traveling through The Pit: it is a mess of storefronts and market places, all manners of persons trying to ferry out their goods to any and all who pass through the halls and exhibition centers within the spire and really throughout the station in its entirety.

SECURITY
Medium -
There are very few actual security forces on The Pit, just hired guns by the Station’s Overseer: and almost all of those mercenaries are confined to keeping the prison complex of the station secured. The rest of the security is natural defenses from the port being placed within an Asteroid Field, alongside the various structures built into the planetoid there is a small handful of light turbolaser gun batteries: these are not particularly made to fend off a would-be-attacker, rather for blasting any bit of space rock that is getting too close for comfort, but if push comes to shove a turbolaser is a turbolaser.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
If there is one constant to this Galaxy, it’s that someone or something will always mooch off the success of others. The Pit exemplifies this idea totally and utterly, in the most recent golden age of the slave pits of Ziugen off in the distant void of space, someone lost to time had the bright idea to make a Shadow-Port as an in-between when traveling the Shag Pobal on the way to Ziugen, to offload your goods early, repair craft, or to simply run away from all the various sorts in this Galaxy that would see every slaver they could get their hand on dead.

Built within the closest Planetoid to Ziugen off the back of a legion of slave workers, the spires of The Pit were quickly built up: in this ancient age, The Pit itself was formed first with everything else being built off this first mighty prison structure, ultimately for many of the years of The Pit’s existence it was the transfer of slaves from this main Spire, with only impromptu marketplaces popping up in unused hangar bays during the period of construction on the rest of the Shadow-Port: though during these days, the Shadow part was barely relevant and it was mainly just simply a Port. A particularly wealthy patron who frequented The Pit, now known simply by their name: Baolish, the rest lost to history. This wealthy enjoyer of gladiatorial games would funnel great sums of money into the Port that would see it prosper into the larger station it is today, and of course brought about the current main attraction to the Shadow Port: the Arena of Baolish, a cruel mechanism with false promises of slave-warriors fighting for their freedom, or beasts across the Galaxy forced to clash for the amusement of the betting masses. While slaving declined, the Arena never would.

And declined it did, for alas golden ages do not last forever and as the markets on Ziugen declined and Slavers were more aggressively pursued by the various authorities among the Galaxy The Pit rescinded into the shadows of only the most cruel scum in the Galaxy: a hive for Slavers trying to escape the eyes of the law and relive the glory days of the thriving markets of old, and with the rise of the Underworld in the new chaos of the Galaxy, they see their chance.

But “they”, ultimately becomes the Overseer of the station, the de-facto ruler of this little pocket realm: currently it is the particularly rotund Trandoshan Braah Rarsk: a purveyor of all manner of foul transactions in the trading of human life for his…particular (and very literal) appetite. Reaching out with their tendrils of local slavers now, The Pit seeks to capitalize on the disorder in the current war-wracked Galaxy and strike out to claim new souls to be sold.
