Name: Dharma
Loyalties: Dharma is loyal to his people, the Bendu
Role: NPC Head of State of Orax

Development Threads: [Please link to threads where this character has played a role with the FULL NAME of the thread. Not mandatory, but helpful, especially when powerful or skilled NPCs are involved. Master level NPCs will require at least one development thread, the length dependent on their powers and skills.]

Age: 2100 Years Old; 400 Outside of his Colony
Species: Shard

Appearance: Dharma utilizes a tall droid body manufactured by Bankei Industries. It was one of the first models made by Bankei industries and thus many of his servos and circuits are visible, especially around his neck. A cluster of sensors are located on his forehead. When he is active they illuminate blue and when he is in danger and his droid's self defense systems activate they, along with the slits where his photoreceptors are, turn red. He wears a simple cloth robe over his mostly cream and gold colored plastoid body.

Personality: Dharma is a witty and wise Shard with a strong sense of duty and determination. Compassionate and lighthearted, Dharma leads his people with confidence and love with the hope that he and his followers can bring peace and balance back to their world. He isn't afraid to be a goofball sometimes either. Some have called him too earnest and trusting of others.

Force Sensitivity: As a Shard, his Force Sensitivity is dampened by the fact that he is mostly inorganic. Despite saying that his grasp on the core Force Powers (push/pull jump speed etc.) are about what you would expect from a Knight. Where he really focuses on though is Control of himself. Meditation, foresight and the like. This comes from a millennia of inner focus and meditation.

Weapon of Choice: Wits, His droid body

Skills: Dharma is a skilled Force healer and meditation guide. His skills do not lie in combat and in fact lie instead in calm deliberation and conversation. Despite being such a spiritual man, Dharma is still a politician and can talk for days on topics he is passionate about.

Wealth: Dharma himself is not a wealthy man. Most of the money he makes goes into poverty initiatives, grass roots organizations, the Church of the Force, the Bendu Monks and Bankei Technologies. The little he does keep for himself goes towards keeping his family.

Combat Function: None

Notable Possessions:
  • Doctorate Degree in Droid Law from Coruscant University
  • The Bendu Symbol above his bed
  • His wedding band

History: Dharma was "born" seceral thousand years ago. A part of one of the largest Force Sensitive colonies on Orax much of his time was spent debating the semantics of different philosophical ideas. What was the Force, how did it work? Where were the others like them that could feel this great Force at work? He was one of the colonies that first made contact with humans. At first things were fine. And then humans began removing Shards and helping them achieve autonomy. At the time Dharma was vehemently against such a thing and was the final vote in denouncing and excommunicating individual Shards in the consensus.

However as the centuries past and he began to see more and more how destructive the humans could be his thoughts changed. They needed bodies to protect themselves. Even a colony as large has his could only do so much with the Force and even then, most of his colony was non-violent. These feelings set in and simmered for decades before he would finally take action. Using the Force he and several others split from their colony and formed a different colony, closer to the shore of their boiling sea. It was around this time that the Omni factories that had been relocated to Orax to aid in nearby terraforming went rogue and the Gulage Plague began to ravage the humans. Many in his colony were twisted with rage and fell to the darkside, corrupting Dharma himself. However as he saw how Omni was harvesting indiscriminately, often killing Shardin the process he re-centered himself and with the help of another Force Sensitive human, peacefully separated himself with Shatterpoint and was smuggled away from Omni's factory in the night.

It was after this that the Shard took on the name Dharma and helped lead the rebellion until suddenly the Omni factories stopped producing droids. Faced with a war torn landscape Dharma spent almost a decade in the mountains with a handful of Shard and Human followers looking in on themselves. Finding the Bendu in their meditations they returned to the war torn people of Orax and began slowly rebuilding with love, patience and understanding. The humans were still being devastated by the Gulag plague and would be for centuries still, however Dharma would not give in to despair.

He convinced one of his Followers, Bankei to help with his knowledge of droids and robotics and engineering. This would eventually lead to Bankei Technologies. Beloved by the people, both Shard and Human alike, they made him their first unified leader. After that he served on and off as their Head of State, trading seats with the human representatives over the centuries. However, since the return of the Sith Empire to prominence in order to maintain stability a provision was put into place that essentially has kept Dharma in power for over forty-five years. At some point he married to a human woman named Julia Mercy and adopted a pair of Force Sensitive Zabrak twins, Jax and Piper.

Intent: To create and keep with the GA's theme of using NPC leaders.

Name: Orax Rangers
Intent: To protect and serve the wildlife, Fragment Colonies, and Shard Colonies that live outside of the main cities, towns, and villages from Reavers, Poachers, and other criminal elements. Also to provide fun filled tours to civilians and tourists.

Affiliation: The Ranger Service is a group of mercenaries privately funded by Bankei Technologies.

Availability: Uncommon

Quality: C

Type: Droid Armored Infantry

Strength: Including non-combatant Volunteers, Park Rangers number in the thousands

Description: The Orax Rangers is the overarching title that spans over dozens of job titles and descriptions. However, at its core, the Orax Ranger Service is dedicated to the protection of Orax's environment. Developed 100 Years after the Calimity War on Orax, the Orax Rangers were formed originally mostly from members of the Shard Species. With the help of local human tribes the Orax Rangers attempted to protect the Fragments and Shards from the non-consensual harvest of the sentient species that would often end in the crystal species' death. After the Gulag Plague had more or less settled down and tensions between Shard and Human normalized somewhat Humans began joining the cause.

Their general duties include the education of both Humans and Shards on the importance of environmentally sustainable food, energy and waste practices in order to preserve the natural beauty of their planet. They also manage the relocation of Shard and Fragments during city or town expansion and serve as intermediaries between more primitive human tribes, Shard Colonies, and the more advanced towns and cities that have begun to spring up across Orax Hotsprings. They also issue hunting and Fragment Harvesting licences and visas to citizens and travelers.

The Orax Rangers also function as a paramilitary force. Many of these rangers have prior experience in law enforcement, the military, or are hired on as transient mercenaries for a time. These rangers roam the wilds, caves, and even deep beneath the boiling oceans in order to stop poachers, Reavers (hostile tribes, also synonymous with Bandits) and other illegal activity. They work directly with the Orax Military Police in order to bring these criminals to justice. As such their skills vary from medical and tracking all the way to fire prevention and containment. They are the backbone of the Orax Rangers.

Name: The Orax Military Police
Intent: To provide Orax with a small military police force to give some showing of order.
Affiliation: The protection of the people of Orax

Availability: Common

Quality: C

Type: Mixed

Strength: Several Hundred Thousand

Description: The Orax Military police was a force that took root immediately after the Calamity War. Comprised then of rebel fighters, they settled down in what is now the capital of Orax, Samansana. There they attempted to keep order among the civilians while simultaneously defending them from Omni's rogue machines and the Reavers and wild Tribes. However after Dharma returned with his followers the two ideologies clashed. Dharma's movement, one of non-violence and peace contradicted the very way the Rebellion thought the people should be ruled at the time. This led to a series of terrorist attacks on Dharma's temples and places of peace. Bystanders saw this as an attack on innocent people and rallied against the Rebellion behind Dharma and his movement.

As a compromise Dharma took the remaining Rebels and renamed them the Orax Military Police, giving their leader almost full control of military and police action, with some caveats. As the new elected leader of Orax's people, Dharma along with OMP supporters canvased the planet and created laws that were then voted on by the people. With some executive decision making, laws were developed and the OMP were restricted under those laws as well, cutting back on their discriminatory policing of Shard neighborhoods. Over time the OMP became something greater than a dried out Rebellion though. With the aid of Bankei Technologies and other local businesses the OMP grew into a modest ciy defense force. Their sphere of influence grew as the people of Orax did. Moving from Samansana to every other city on the planet and eventually reached even into small towns. While they do have a small number of warships their number and size is small.

Members of the OMP often retire into the Orax Rangers or sometimes switch careers entirely, joining the Field Rangers, the ones that go after the bad guys of the wilds.

Description: Small, adorable, and functional the EGG Droid was one of Bankei Technologies' first designs. Designed to aid in the repopulation of Orax's flora as well as survey the general health of Orax. A bipedal shell of a droid lacking a droid brain, the EGG is designed to work in conjunction with Fragments. By producing positive signals when the Fragment does things that comply with the droid's on board task completion software the droid trains Fragments to become skilled and thorough explorers. Naturally curious this partnership between Fragment and robotics has worked wonders for Orax.

The bipedal droid is capable of traveling great distances without requiring a recharge due to its extended solar powered power pack. Its durasteel frame allows it to take a bit of a beating from spills or drops. The plastoid body and reinforced joints and servos also aid in fall damage being reduced. Its thin body allows it and its comrades to get into almost any crevice and its retractable legs allow it to burrow underground as well. The single photoreceptor on the droid also doubles as a floodlight.

Equipped with powerful sensors and complex sample collection software EGGS of many models (Mk. 4 is the newest version) can be found throughout Orax. However, because they are so plentiful they are privy to being corrupted by the electromagnetic disturbances caused by much of Omni's hidden remaining tech, sometimes causing them to go rogue. This means that the EGGS are the most common Rogue Fragment out there and can be a real nuisance to settlers as going Rogue is contagious among Fragments.

Manufacturer: Bankei Technologies
Model: AMD-RX1080
Affiliation: Orax Rangers
Modularity: None
Production: No longer in production
Material:
  • Desh Alloy
  • Durasteel
  • Light Metal Composits
  • Glass
Classification: First Degree
Weight: (Via Metric System)
Height: 200 Meters~
Movement: Quadrupedal
Armaments: None
Misc. Equipment:
  • Radio wave transceivers
  • Radio Wave boosters
  • Electromagnetic Disturbance Monitor
  • Data compiler and analyzer
  • Low powered repulsors
  • Shard and Fragment Housing

Strengths:
  • Able to record and transmit large amounts of data quickly via wireless signals
  • Advanced design makes it difficult to topple over
Weaknesses:
  • Lumbering
  • Easily destroyed or damaged with conventional weaponry
  • Difficult and expensive to repair
Description: The AMD-RX1080 is an age old relic now. Originally designed by OMNI as a way to monitor and transmit data over long stretches of land the 1080 was a modified version of the droid produced in 538 by Bankei Technologies. However because much of the design was cannibalized and reverse engineered tech that required OMNI tech it became illegal to produce them after the second OMNI crisis several years ago. However, their usefulness to the health and wellbeing of their planet trumped the fear that OMNI had caused. Now the aging machines see continued use mostly by the Orax Rangers as long range signal boosters in the wilds where signals can be spotty at best. Repairs and retrofits have all but stripped the droids of their OMNI influence, however as it is simply patchwork and not a fully new design Bankei has yet to find the perfect balance to create such towering machines without them being tipped over by the slightest breeze.

These droids, unlike many that dot the surface of Orax, are not controlled by a Fragment or Shard. Instead they rely on a droid brain. Often times they are seen in groups of two or three striding across the wilds. Birds often nest high up on the necks between antennae or just under the dish itself. They do however have the capacity to be controlled by a Shard if certain sensitive data needed to be hand recovered.

Affiliation: Orax Rangers
Modularity: No

Material:
  • Durasteel
  • Fiber Padding
  • Minor Droid Brain
Classification: Second Degree Environmental Droid
Weight: (Via Metric System)
Height: (Via Metric System)
Movement: Quadrupedal
Armaments: Head
Misc. Equipment:

  • Tweeter UAV System
  • Ecological sensor suite
  • Vents

  • Audio and Video recording software
  • Data Storage Banks
  • Flotation Device
  • Fragment Housing
Strengths:
  • Powerful Audio Receptors
  • Powerful Macrobinocular vision
  • Armor Plating
  • Tweeter UAV System
  • Water Proof
Weaknesses:
  • Fragment can go Rampant, disabling much of the functionality and even taking full control of all droid systems
  • Weight can cause Big Horn Series droids to become stuck in heavy mudslides and quicksand-like phenomena
Description: Similar to the EGG series of droids, the Big Horn series was aimed at conservation, rebuilding, and monitoring of the environment. However, unlike the EGG series the Big Horn series was designed to look as natural as possible. Based off of one of the few native creatures found on Orax, the Big Horn series droids are equipped with a Fragment and a set of Tweeters and placed within herds of the Oraxian Water Buffalo. Almost completely eradicated during OMNI's second coming, the beasts are often hunted for their white crystal horns and sold on the black market. In order to protect the herds as well as keep tabs on the mineral, Ph, and saline levels of the hot springs that the Shard live in and the Buffalo frequent the Big Horn series is equipped with a variety of sensors, recorders, and transmitters.

The Big Horn series are all equipped with "Tweeters". Made to resemble the birds that often follow the Oraxian Water Buffalo, the Tweeters are actually small droids controlled by the small droid brain located in the hangar attached to the Big Horn Series droid's back. They can also be controlled remotely. They record data and precise herd movements during the day and act as early warnings and messengers during times of emergency or poacher attack. Unassuming and small they are believed to cause no harm to the well being of the Water Buffalo.

Similarly to the EGG series, Fragments are trained vigorously to react positively to stimuli that occur when the Fragment commands the droid to do what is meant to. However, it like all other Fragments run the risk of going rampant. Luckily there are only a few areas that cause this to occur and even when in said area rampancy rates are low. However, when one does go rampant they are unpredictable. Often they will stray away from the herd and stay in the affected area. Other times they will attack other Fragments or droids in an attempt to pass on its mental disease. This of course can cause huge issues in data collection.

Description: Physically designed after the Anooba, the ______ is a droid designed to take full advantage of the Fragment's ability to increase its intelligence in large groups. Cheap, lightweight and easy to maintain the ____ is often used by the Orax Rangers in sting operations. While not main combatants, their effectiveness as a unit and along with their speed make them perfect for capturing stray poachers who might try to escape a sting or even just to let loose and keep eyes on the Wilds. The _____ are in short modernized, militarized droids based on EGG technology and build practices. With sharp retractable teeth for lethal and non-lethal take downs and armor strong enough to deflect standard slughtrower technologies popular among bandits and poachers the _____ is an effective and irreplaceable part of the Orax Rangers.

However, because they are so common in the Wilds, they are also the most common Fragment-based droids that succumb to Rampancy. They are also a popular tool for Poachers and criminal organizations to use because they are so easily purchased legally. While civilian deaths at the hands of the _____ and their criminal owners are limited, they have become the image used by leftist humans to ban the Fragment drone project. Despite this setback the ____ is one of the most popular Fragment Drone on the market of Orax.

Intent: To provide a droid body for Shard working in the Orax Military Police
Development Thread: None
Manufacturer: Bankei Technologies
Model: OMP Heavy Assault Droid
Affiliation: Orax Military Police
Modularity: No
Production: Minor
Material:
  • Dura-armor
  • Durasteel
  • Silicone Composite
Classification: Fourth Degree
Weight: 181 Kg
Height: 1.8 Meters
Movement: Bipedal/Repulsor
Armaments:
  • Shock Gloves
Misc. Equipment:
  • Gabonna Memory Crystal Storage Unit
  • Audio/Video Recorder
  • Macrobinocular Vision
  • Electromagnetic Vocabulator
  • Rapid Inflation Organic Protection System
  • Ionization Buffer
  • Standard Targeting Assist System
  • Shard Housing
  • Hydraulic Assist
Strengths:
  • Armor offers great protection against blaster fire and completely stops standard slugthrower technology
  • Can be abandoned in times of extreme combat stress
  • Droid limbs and hydraulic assistance allows for Shards inhabiting the body to move heavy objects normally out of the realm of possibility to most organics (About as strong as a Whipid or Wookie)
  • Gabonna Memory Crystal allows for Shard to store data and direct video and audio logs for detective work.
Weaknesses:
  • Expensive and difficult to repair or replace
  • Difficult to fix in the field
  • Because it does not have a droid brain installed and is completely reliant on the Shard to move the droid body can't be utilized without a willing Shard
  • Repulsors don't work in the vacuum of space
  • Slow, almost inability to run
Description: Developed in secret for many years by the OMP and Bankei Technologies, the OMP Heavy Assault Droid is a husk made for Shard use in the Oraxian Military Police raids. Originally it was developed to face the terrors of the Sith Empire after the Omni Crisis. As a military droid it was, at the time, a very advanced piece of technology, one of the most advanced droid housings every made by Bankei. Often Called Big Daddies or Marshmallow Men the droid is constructed with a durasteel skeleton and fitted with a very plush silicone "skin" with dura-armor plates placed over that, the OMP Heavy Assault Droid is a layered and plushy machine. Unlike its smaller and leaner cousin that is based on the OMP armor, the Heavy Assault Droid's role in combat is not only to intimidate and provide a heavy bulwark for troops to hide behind but also to aid in organic extraction. With more to hold onto and even an inflation device that works like an airbag for organics in pinch situations.

  • Remote Access Enabled
  • Easy To Repair
  • Cheap to construct and repair
Weaknesses:
  • Heavy
  • Difficult to Repair on the fly
  • Prone to Overheating if worked consecutively for too long
Description: The Series 5 HS-ID is the most crude and to the point HS-ID that Bankei Technologies produces. Designed for one purpose and one purpose only, the Series 5 was created to be used during the work day in heavy construction and warehouse work. Though designed to be used as mainly a labor droid body for work, the Series 5 HS-ID is most often seen as the only HS-ID in low income families because of its affordability. With powerful hydraulic servos and full durasteel limbs the Series 5 has no trouble lifting and moving heavy objects, though because it was meant to be used for only part of the day like that, utilizing the powerful hydraulics can render units inert with the power core overheated.

Though not as nimble as a Series 3 in which a Shard can choose to install a hand to hand combat module or simply learn to fight, the Series 5 can punch through permacrete if it needed to, making it a popular droid body for thugs and gang enforcers. Because on Orax hard labor is seen as a necessity but not a valued kind of work, those that utilize the Series 5 in public outside of the slums are often treated as lesser by the upper echelons of society on Orax. Due to what many consider unfair labor laws and the upper class's seeming disdain for the model, it has also become a symbol for worker's rights organizations throughout the planet.

  • Because the Shard are such a long lived species, replacements throughout their lifetimes will be many as they droids are meant to last a maximum of 150 Years
  • Retrieving data can take time for a Shard
  • Shards still have to learn languages loaded into TrangLang Communications Module, else they will fumble over words and babble nonsense
  • Unlike other Droids, the power source for these droids will run out if Shard does not initiate a "Sleep" state
  • Even with "Sleep" states droid power packs can be expensive and last a finite amount of time
Description: In times past the union between Shard and machine was a tenuous one at best. The most infamous example of Shards utilizing droid bodies would be the Iron Knights of the Jedi Order from long before the the Battle of Yavin and even those droids, designed to be utilized as Jedi bodies for the Shard who willingly left Orax to join the Order were clunky and inefficient machines. Utilizing the complex and advanced architectural designs OMNI's own humanoid droids Bankei Technologies was able to mimic the fluidity at which they moved through the physical world. Currently some of the most advanced "droids" in the Galaxy these aren't made to be autonomous machines for Organic life to utilize as slaves. No, these droids in their chest cavity hold a complex system designed to hold, receive and output signals from an individual Shard to use as his, her, or their own body. Because of this many BT-Series 3 droids lack an actual Droid Brain instead opting to utilize the empty space with various modules, the most common as well as the standard one being the TransLang Communications Module. Bankei Technologies makes a variety of modules including voice packs, knowledge packs, and even hotspot packs which allow the BT-Series 3 droid to become a walking, mobile HoloNet hotspot.

In terms of construction, light materials were utilized when possible along with highly conductive materials in order for the electromagnetic signals given off by the Shard to be read and processed at speeds faster than the human brain. This was a side effect of droid construction, however because of this Shards in Series 3 and 4 droids often boast much quicker reflexes than humans as well as faster data comprehension. Bankei Technolovies created this series of droid in order to bridge the gap between Man and Shard. Despite its series number, the Series 3 droid was the first of its kind developed by Bankei Technologies with the number corresponding to the droid class it would have been were the Shards not inhabiting them. Technically they would be classified as Class 3 Care Droids.
