The Pelagic Rift is a vital, clean power source for the planet Uukaablis.[/SIZE]
[SIZE=9pt]The generator modules mount a handful of laser cannons and military-grade shield generators. Otherwise, the location must depend on naval support for protection. Fortunately, the only route to the Pelagic Rift leads through a crucial and well-defended system, along with numerous choke points.[/SIZE]

[SIZE=9pt]The Uukaablians, a peaceful but pragmatic civilization, have long had the misfortune of controlling the only stable route to the dangerous Qektoth Confederation. To keep themselves safe from the biotech cyborg regimes which controlled the Confederation until recently, the Uukaablians developed powerful shield technology and other unique defensive measures. Their progress came at an environmental cost. In search of a way to preserve their home planet’s stability, the Uukaablians harnessed the energy of a tiny nearby black hole. Generators were placed in a tight orbit around the Pelagic Rift, capable of gleaning energy from gravitational waves, the ring of energized particles orbiting the black hole, and the associated radiation pulses. Research is also conducted at the Rift.[/SIZE]
[SIZE=9pt]The Qektoth never discovered the Rift’s location or capabilities before their recent revolution. Now that they and the Uukaablians have joined the Outer Rim Coalition, the Uukaablians remain wary of revealing this information. Some trusted Coalition associates, such as some experienced Undergrounders, have been given the route’s location and the clearance to refuel at the generator platforms if in the neighbourhood.[/SIZE]
