The Obsidian Citadel

OOC/ My old board had persistent location threads, and after I saw Master Windspeaker start one, I thought I’d get one going for the Obsidian Order. Most welcome, particularly Obsidian Order members, Fringe, and Tion. Known Protectorate members less so…
Shule Windspeaker said:
OOC/ On the board where I got my start, we used to have location-based threads. A Jedi Academy thread would see writers pop in and out every other page as people pursued their own storylines, trained, met, debated, left for missions, came back from missions, sparred and socialized. If people moved on, other people pressed on or joined. The threads got long, really long, and people loved having a coherent narrative for a single location.

The Obsidian Citadel, Roon.

There were several facets of the old Templar Order that directly translated to the current Obsidian Order. Perhaps the first amongst these was that they offered sanctuary to any Jedi who needed a place to stay and train. Any Jedi who chafed under the restrictive Code, any Sith who managed to escape the clutches of a Master that forced them into countless battles on their behalf, all were welcome here.

The Obsidian Order, much like the rest of Abrion, believed that every individual had to potential to succeed. They expected determination, independent thinking, individual talent, above adherence to any strict training regime.

As Raziel walked up a spiral staircase that moved between levels he reflected on his position. Taozin Net had recently been established to train and organise Force Users to carry out the more delicate operations. Under Salem, Raziel had been something of an enforcer, hiding in the shadows. He’d gathered much influence in Spynet since being unleashed, but no one knew who the Spymaster really was.

It was time to make himself – or at least a carefully crafted appearance of himself – become more widely known within the Obsidian Order.

There would be many here today being fitted with and training with the new Obisidan Armour sets. It came in two options, a lightweight modular stealth suit, and a heavier modular battle suit. Several Jedi would likely be training above atmo in Rassilon elite fighters, launched from the upper floors of the spire.

Hopefully Seto would have been practising on his balance board. The youth seemed confused at being set such difficult tasks. However, Raziel knew from experience that if you didn’t push yourself to your limits in training, you would find them out the hard way. Possibly only once.

He was also here to provide some training on concealing one’s presence in the Force. To some it was considered a niche power, but to him it was as mundane and necessary as swinging a lightsaber.

Vi'kas entered the room, fitted into one of the Obsidian Order's new Stealth suits. The young assassin had never tried one on before, but had opted to try it out. He had modded it a slight bit from the original, though. One of these modifications was two slits carved into the knuckle areas of each hand.

He made his way to the room in the Obsidian Citadel where his training would take place. He would undergo training from [member="Raziel"] . Vi'kas entered the room, lightsabers clipped to his belt, as well as a few other hidden weapons. An assassin was always prepared for every possible occurrence.

Right, she was supposed to be stopping at the Grand Temple of the Obsidian Order or something. Really, was this necessary? Like, for her? Molly was fine as a person the fact that she was here proved that. It wasn't like some policing entity on Nar Shaddaa sent her here. No, she heard about a group of people that were going to teach her what she needed to know, y'know, with that whole Force deal, and provide her with all sorts of new tech toys.

The whole thing about Abrion was that everyone seemed to have a chance, if they were half awake. And that was maybe something that was important to her, but she'd never admit it to anyone. She wanted to see what she was worth, because apparently, according to some mystic on Nar Shaddaa, there was more to life than partying, drugs and physical relations.

Molly didn't expressly believe that, but who knew? Besides, a bit of travel? That was never bad.

Join the Obsidian Order, travel the galaxy, see new and interesting people and places, and kill them.

What was she hoping to learn? She wasn't even sure what the Force could do, but she did want to work on her computer literacy. She used a lot of them on Nar Shaddaa, but getting better? That could never be a bad thing.

If there was a philosophy that Raziel could get behind, "you can never have too many knives" was about as good as they came.

He made his way over to Vi'kas, "How are you finding the suit, got any thoughts on the modules? Small tip, if you speak to the techs they can get you some fabric with the same adaptive camo for hiding things," he said.

Every member of the Obsidian Order was expected to maintain and modify the technology and armour they used. And if they had an idea, the resources of the Techno Union could get behind it.

Vi'kas shook his limbs, still getting used to the suit. "I like it, just a new feel for me. I modded the knuckles a bit. This should be the first time I'll be testing it in combat, so we shall see how it fares."

Percy Imura

Imura with a Table Knife
Formerly a member of the One Sith, Penelope Imura was testing new waters... again.

Not that the Sith hadn't taught her well, it was within their ranks that she constructed her lightsaber and learned the forms Makashi and Shien, but... she didn't always agree with their ways. She wasn't the type to turn to anger or live in fear. She wasn't an enraged beast or cold calculator. What she was though, she didn't quite know.

If she knew anything though, she was an Imura. She was the cousin of Nickolas Imura himself, she had something ahead of her that was marvelous... to find it though, she had to walk on a different path than the Sith. She heard of the Obsidian Order. They sounded different. Maybe different would be best, Percy thought, as the Sith's dark methods had taken her nowhere.

Wearing her old cloak, which heavily covered her scrawny body, she entered the Citadel for the first time. She'd been to Corusant plenty of times to be used to crowded places, but while the technology matched... it was surprisingly peaceful.

Walking into the room though, she saw that a training session was already going on. Percy stepped silently next to the door and pulled her hood off, revealing her bright red hair. Blue eyes looked around the room, waiting for the moment to jump in.

If there was talk about philosophy, Molly's would be about spice, booze and men. Really anything that could change her mental state. The idea of knives? That could be fun... She assumed. But apparently those were not good modification ideas for the Obsidian Armor. Not like she could blame the Techno Union on that, but Molly was still looking through the designs. All she did agree on right now was a gunmetal gray and an indigo color scheme. Y'know, something that wasn't too out there, surprisingly.

She was going to have to find [member="Raziel"] and figure where she was supposed to go.

His feet trotted down the hallway, his new Obsidian Armor stashed in his bag slung around his shoulder, save the bottom half of the uniform as Seto was wearing the pants and leg armor. He had on a simple white shirt and a towel around his neck as he continued his slow walk from his first training room. The young Du Couteau's breathing still came in a tad heavy as he slowly calmed himself, his abdominal area feeling quite sore along with several areas along his legs. That damned balance board Seto cursed in his mind, he had first down several sets of sit-ups and crunches to help his core, and by extension his balance, but even after several weeks Seto felt he hardly improved. Slightly disgusted with himself he radiated a serious annoyed aura around him, but he sighed, knowingly he had overly criticized himself of his own training.

Continuing towards the turbolift, Seto mused on the new found structure of the Obsidian Order, with its several Networks and new command structure. He wasn't sure exactly of where he was suppose to take part of, and even less if he even wanted to take part of anything. His free hand reached for his training saber clipped to his side and began to twirl it around his fingers as he exited the turbolift. He heard that his Instructor had made his way to the Citadel here on Roon. His sense flared up as he felt a few more presences several meters in front of him, the Citadel felt rather empty in Seto's opinion but he shrugged the new feeling off as he continued his walk.

His attention shifted from the hallway in front of him to a person standing right inside the entrance of the Training Room. The bright red hair caught most of Seto's attention, he was about to continue his walk forward but felt a familiar presences of his Instructor. Thank Ara, I would have been utterly livid if I was forced to search this entire palace Seto thought wearily as he walked inside the room. He quickly stopped short as he now noticed there were several people inside the room and not just the Red Hair person and his Instructor but another being as well. Rolling his shoulders as he relaxed himself, his Instructor was a popular person, not that Seto was surprised, if anything he felt slightly annoyed. His facial expression shared that sentiment as well.

"Armor based stealth?" Elgyn mumbled curiously as a lithe finger scrolled down on the datapad.

Raziel was intent on teaching the less proficient force users on a furtive skill set. Though the shi'ido would have interjected on the possible crutch aspect of using armor over natural skill; Elgyn was intent on observing the training himself. Though he had no actual pull within the Order, his opinion could be valued. His hands ran through thick hair before scratching his head in contemplation . The dark Force user did utilize quite a number of technological toys; it was a similarity between Raziel and himself.

Elgyn brokered his dark robes as he stood: adjusting his utility belt before heading out of the waiting chamber. His steps were strong and intentional as he cut through mildly crowded wings of the citadel. He should really have requested more privately located quarters for his stay.

Lots of faces, old and new today, it seemed. Raziel tapped his keys across the datapad and a full-colour holo-recording appeared behind him. It showed some example footage of the Nightshrike armour in a range of conditions. He kept that on loop whilst he looked around. The footage was there to demonstrate one thing: the adaptive camouflage was good, but a long way from a personal cloak or more complete stealth suits he knew to exist.

He gave a friendly nod to Seto, the apprentice would probably value something that wasn’t physical training. Raziel had not seen Maxtor for a long time, not since they had infiltrated a research station being overrun by errant code. Code, it turned out, that had originated in a geonosian crypt. Vi'kas Mirtis had been with them for a short while, fulfilling contracts for Spynet, but also providing assistance on Zenith Prime.

That left the other two. We knew of Ms Rieux, but very little of her. The final participant was a teenage redhead he didn’t recall seeing around. Rather than single her out, he decided to start with something remarkably mundane: “We’re going to be talking about concealing oneself in the Force today, hopefully that’s why you’re all here. Bear in mind we’re talking about making your presence harder to detect, nothing more. Why don’t we quickly go around the room before we begin and introduce ourselves?”

Raziel had taken a short while to consider which face he would be presenting today, before settling on businesslike, yet relatively approachable. Raziel was no-one, and yet at the same time he was anyone. He was whatever he needed to be to blend in and get the job done.

Penelope nodded, walking up to the group. Force Concealment wasn't exactly what she had in mind, but it would be good enough. More power to aid her family...

She smiled in greeting, "Call me Percy. I'm just the newbie who's ready to be mopped across the floor with." She winked, a suggestion that she was half joking. If this place was anything like the Sith, she would be the next cleaning utensil for the floor! Until then though, she motioned the others to keep the ball rolling.

Not everyone, contrary to [member="Chaos Maxtor"] 's belief, could master all the bits of the Force. Sure, Molly herself could blend in with the world around her, if she was in a cityscape, but beyond that? She didn't really like being in anything but the urban jungle. It just felt like home. And she was able to make herself survive. Was that the Force? Or street smarts?

She was dressed in a basic leather bodyglove, nothing too fancy, at least not for her, but nothing too plain. To the observer who knew something, there was a high end designer logo on it, but that was because companies owned everyone, one way or another.

And concealment was the first lesson? That should be grand, right? Of course it would. She could sneak around and pick-pocket so much easier. Now if only that Marek Starchaser was around, he had some deep pockets, from what she learned.

Looking around, it seemed to be her turn to speak. Percy. Redhead was Percy. “I'm Molly. From Nar Shaddaa.” She smiled, not too politely, and stepped closer to the other girl. Similar ages, right?

Concealment with the Force, an interesting idea for using the force and in fact in practice would be helpful for Seto in the last missions he had attended. His eyes followed along those in the room, one of those inside were wearing one of the newest models of Obsidian Knight Armor, while the rest, save himself partially, wore their own clothing and garb. The other woman, dressed in her leather jumpsuit introduced herself as "Molly", Seto sparred a few glances before returning to the HoloDisplay. He sucked in the sigh as he began to force himself to introduce himself.

Slowly he took a single step forward, he let his gaze move around those present in the training room, "My name is Seto Du Couteau," Seto spoke out, his hands went for the non existent tie he wished he had on, but simply went to go adjust his towel wrapped around his neck. His facial expression had finally removed the annoyed look, but appeared bored and disinterested.

Vi'kas shrugged. He wasn't a shy person, and didn't mind introducing himself. "Name's Vi'kas. Pleasure to meet you." The young Sith looked around the room, examining the host of rather interesting characters before him.

"Right then. My name is Raziel for those that don't know me, a Master within Taozin Net," he announced, not feeling the need to provide further information. He turned to the holo-image and waved a hand in its direction. "Nightshrike armour, it's adaptive camouflage is relatively effective, but far from perfect. From ten metres away in bright light you'll always be seen, and from much further if you're moving. It's not to be relied on to stay out of sight, that's done with no shortage of practise and skill. However, it does defeat most thermal and life force scanners.

"We'll also teach you to hide in plain sight. We have agents dedicated just to keeping up to date with the current fashions across millions of worlds, species and across social regions. Yet with all of this you are still vulnerable to a Force User who can sense your presence from a distance.

"Hiding this presence is remarkably difficult. Yet some can do it almost constantly and others can mimic a light or dark presence. So, before we start, those who do want to take part, please try and pair up with someone of a similar ability. Your ability to sense being the key here."

Partners. Molly could do that. And finding someone who was of her level? Well, that would be tricky. Yes, yes nightshrike armor. Don't get seen up close. Don't wear it in the sun.

But then [member="Raziel"] had said something. Agents out there keeping tabs on fashion? That could be a fun job. Getting put on a world and working to master it? That would make Molly happy, and she was probably hoping she'd be good at it. Not that this was an Obsidian job fair or anything.

Or was it?

Yes. She was listening. Molly was from the streets. She could eavesdrop with ease. "So... any beginners?" Even if she was doing this all her life. Subconsciously.

"There are many techniques documented for doing this, there are also alchemical devices. However, the basics for all are incredibly difficult to explain and take significant time," Raziel continued. The holo-image behind him faded away, he knew the first part of this was going to be relatively dull, but he had something far more interesting planned next.

"Before we do anything else, I just need to all to reach out with the Force and sense you partner."

And where were the spiders
Sure, he wasn't quite a teacher. Hell, did Marek actually instruct anyone? Maybe a few in how to modify the trajectory of slugs being fired. But he was really here to support the Order. Marek was not a Sith, not a Jedi, he was a Zeison Sha rogue. And the Obsidian Order suited him just fine, like the Templar, but he knew where the future was. He was here to support the order, and to watch [member="Raziel"] work with the newbies. Stepping into the area where all were gathered, and took note of who was here. He could sense them, they all seemed to know why they were here, aside from the girl from Nar Shaddaa, but the two men? And the Imura girl?

A fair crop.

Hopefully they'd learn a few things and not rely fully on the armor and upgrades.

Even Techno Union equipment wasn't foolproof.

Seto raised an eyebrow, if they were going to practice becoming unseen, concealment, should not he not know of the others intentions in the first place? Shrugging he lowered his bag towards the floor, a soft 'thump' and Seto took a few steps forward. Seto's eyes closed for a brief moment as he concentrated and stretched his senses further out. The Force was indeed as a hyper awareness, in-tuned with all living things around the young Du Couteau heir, Seto stretched further out to get a better grasp of those in the room.

Clearly he was certain he himself was not among the strongest of the force in the group. A 'tck' sound came from Seto's mouth as he noted a very varied level of power from those present in the room, especially the new man that walked into the room. If sheer presence was any indicator, he felt three very strong presences from his instructor, the long hair man and the new person who walked in simply dwarfs the rest of them. Seto's eyes narrowed but he clenched his mouth to refuse to comment. Ignore those three, don't bother Seto thought as he tried to focus on the rest, he was certain they were not full fledged knights as himself. But the other three large presences, they were simply a tad hard to ignore. With a sigh he glanced around as he stretched out his own arms.

"Wouldn't it be easier to conceal ourselves when the others aren't ready to seek out the concealed?" Seto asked.

Phade slipped into the training room in the Obsidian Citadel. He hadn't been sure when the training was to begin, but he seemed to have been late. Nonplussed by this, he stepped out of the doorway as soon as he was through it, moving smoothly towards a corner where he could watch people until he knew enough of what was going on to join in. After a few moments of watching, he gathered that people were paired up and doing some force sensing type practice. He knew this because he saw roughly half of those assembled with their eyes closed in concentration, and the others seemed to be trying hard to accomplish it with their eyes wide open.

Phade quietly looked around for a spare cadet that he could pair off with. A moment later he was standing before a young woman. He reached out to the Force and tried to pull it in. It came, almost reluctantly it seemed, and he could just barely feel something at the edge of his senses. Now he knew why the other were concentrating so hard, and why they were all practicing it.
