The Night Has A Thousand Eyes [Charlie]

Nar Shaddaa

Brave and stupid is what one would call his boy that stepped off the small freighter onto the landing platform on Nar Shaddaa. From Midvinter were life is vastly different to the rest of the galaxy for the most part, yet he would not look out of place no matter what he looked like or dressed in, no one would pay him any attention, not initially anyway. But for Vik, this was out of this world and he stood unable to move as his eyes look in everything at once overwhelming his senses and all of a sudden he was very afraid. What have I done ...

The freighter on which he traveled had already departed only stopping for fuel before moving on to the next destination so he had no means of turning around and get back to Midvinter. Not to mention he had not a credit to his name. He had bartered for passage as it was with what little he had, some small trickets that the crew saw value in so that was gone now too, Vik would soon learn how the galaxy worked, the hard way.

Eventually his feet found ability to move, walking in a circle with his eyes lifted to the skyline taking in the wonder of it all, but all of a sudden the tall building seemed to tower over his head bending toward him as if they would fall on his head, everything narrowed in his vision and pulled toward him, so he ran forgetting about his bag sitting on the surface of the platform, and found solace against a cold hard wall behind some freighter crates. He closed his eyes hoping for everything to go away, that he would wake up back on Midvinter in Averlorn safe in the shrouded mists.

"Hey you! What are you doing behind there!", came a hard gruff voice and some alien species Vik had no clue of what they were man handled him out by the arm, "Go on get out of here". A sharp push almost sent Vik to the ground. There was no argument in Vik, his face turned away so he did not have to look at the man and went to find his bag .. which .. had been stolen.

This was not a good start.

Vik shoved his hands in his pockets, kept his head down eyes to the ground and walked .. anywhere. He would not look up for fear of the overwhelming sensation returning and engulfing him again, he did not want to look anyone in the eyes. Where he was going he had no idea, it did not matter, and nothing around him he did not see for all he could focus on was his heart hitting hard against his chest and trying to control his breathing.

It was one of the odd moments that Charlie was left to her own devices. Master Jyoti was doing some business and Charlie took this opportunity to explore Nar Shaddaa. There were several places that seemed to have good spots for food, but of course she had run out of her allowance money and her Master had become privy to her little ways of charging things onto the woman’s credit chit. Musing over how she was going to get her little gremlin hands on something to snack on, she found herself walking through the crowds.

Everyone seemed to be so busy on their comms and data pads. It was as if they were blind to the world around them. Other planets were so different compared to Tython, she needed to continuously remember this. It was something that Jyoti reminded her of as well, things were different off Tython and she had to be prepared for it. So, Charlie continued to work her way between the crowds along the sidewalks. To fit in she pulled out her new comm device that Jyoti had gotten her and started to look at it. She had discovered a small game that she had to collect the same shape to make everything explode. Becoming focused on it she stopped avoiding people in the crowd and bumped into someone.

Falling back, Charlie became aware of her small stature and landed hard on her bottom. Blinking, she rotated slightly to rub her backside with a wince. “Ow, that – what…” Looking up she saw a young man that seemed troubled, “Eh sorry?” [member="Vik Fagrrowan"]

The sound of laughter, music, feet pounding the pavement, the groaning of air speeders that defied physics and flew the night air .. or was it day? He did not dare to look up to find out, nor did he care at this point. If it wasn't the tall buildings that would overwhelm him but noise as well, it was too much and all he wanted to do was find a place where he could be alone and gather himself. His eyes flashed at the passing feet having kept his head down the whole time not paying any attention on where he walked. Some got too close and bumped his shoulder as they passed, which only heralded a stream of words he did not understand from the passer by, but by the tone of them, it was his fault. Maybe it was.

Vik turned a corner hoping in this direction he would find his salvation for solace but no, more of the same but determination would set his pace quicker. It was then that this was brought to a sudden halt as his shoulder charged into someone, turning him side ways on collision but the person that had plowed into him or he her, was pushed to the ground.

"My Lady pardon my brutal intrusion", he spoke with a thick lyrical accent and he forgot for a moment his plight. Only the flicking of his eyes he dared to look at her face, only a flash would look into her face and eyes, he was safe from the burden, his burden with that. Yet the rest of her he looked over as he knelt to the ground beside her, "Please take my arm and allow me to assist you up". He doubted there was any serious injury with the fall, save to her pride.

From what little he saw of her, she was around his age and maybe she would be able to tell him where go to find the quiet he sort so much. If she was incline to help. The crowd walking the streets, going the Gods know where, became thicker piling out of surrounding buildings and busy with pace, he could feel himself stifled for breath again, if not towering buildings, it was now towering hordes of beings and all he could see was their legs. He closed his eyes to shut them all out.

Charlie stood up and tilted her head at the boy as he spoke. He sounded funny, unlike any one she had ever heard talk. She tried not to chuckle at his tone, but it was hard. A hand dusted her bottom as she started to get bumped around by the crowd that was moving past them. Frowning, she realized that she wasn’t a huge fan of cities and began to prefer her Master’s home planet more than here and other planets She scratched her forehead as she took his arm again after using it the first time to stand up. IT seemed the boy was troubled by something.

Maybe he was like her and wasn’t a fan of large crowds. Seeing that she could help, she grabbed him and dragged him along till they made it through the crowds. An alley marked a haven for them, for the time being. Once more she dusted herself off and peered at the boy – his eyes had remained shut for most of their small adventure – but why? She waved casually as she knelt slightly to stare up at him as he looked away and down from her. “Hello? Are you alright? Something the matter?” Charlie stepped away and placed her hands on her slender hips trying to figure out what was going on with this kid.

“I’m Charlie, you are? I mean I think I deserve to know the name of the guy that bumped me on my rear end.” She pointed at her bottom which was now slightly stained from the streets of Nar Shaddaa. “I’m okay, if you were curious at all.” [member="Vik Fagrrowan"]

The next minute he knew, he was being forcefully lead away with her taking his hand. It was a strange sensation on a couple of levels, firstly that he had his eyes closed the whole time, and allowed her to simple take control of the matter. Secondly, it was the first time a girl had held his hand, and it was kinda nice and warm but he could not dwell on the idea of it for long because soon enough there was relative silence around them. The sounds of the main street had vanished as if in far distance, at least it appeared that way, and that was good enough for the moment.

"A thousand apologies my lady", this for his rude intrusion upon her by bumping into her. "I am Vik Fagrrowan of Midvinter and I am pleased you are uninjured". He quickly tried to amend. He had not meant to harm her in any way, but deep down she probably knew that. It was now he was able to take in his surroundings, a dark ally way, filthy with muck from where he did not know and by the smell of it, was probably better off not knowing. Yet he was grateful for it, there was no one here but the two of them and no pressing horde.

"I err, I have lost my way. I don't know where I am and my belongings have been taken from me", he said not really in a desperate although he should. He had no clue where he was or what he could be in for. He still did not look at her, not directly in the eyes at least, he wanted to most badly but the ramifications of that act? So he put off his most main plight in lieu of the more present one.

Before she could reply however, there was a loud cracking noise that would split the ears. It was as loud as the lightning of Helm striking the ground. They did not remain alone for lone, as three men appeared at the end of the ally way, armed with some sort of weapon and running toward them. At the other end of the ally, what would appear to be their escape route, a transport stopped and the doors opened, and a man yelling at them to hurry up.

This time, Vik did not hesitate and looked Charlie in the eyes, more out of complete bewilderment.
