Misc. Equipment:
Strengths & Weaknesses:
  • Strengths:
Rapid Reinforcement - Designed to be something of a "rough rider" like large real life jeeps and SUVs, its axle structure and thrusters help it drive through rough terrain, overcome obstacles, and support troops on the front line, or reinforce them
Most Atmospheres - Limited use in extreme cold and heat, the Maw is designed to be deployed on multiple worlds and atmospheric types, even the vacuum of space
  • Weaknesses:
Big Target - No shields, sensitive external hardware; it can keep its personnel safe, mostly, but everything can get lit up and destroyed, easily
Limited Firing Archs - Anything within 3.5m of the vehicle, it can't shoot at, leaving the vehicle vulnerable, especially without passengers/crew
Description:
The Maw, the prized design second only to the modified ship by the Doctor, built as the main deployment method intended for his combat medical team to support the war and aid those fighting the good fight. Something of a rapid AT-TE with better mobility, deployment and support, lacking the better armor and bunker busting height, the Maw was made to pull injured soldiers out of the fight and patch them up or transport them to a primary medical facility. Along with its sensitivity to the battlefield, an external holo-emitter was located outside, with retractable armor plating to allow the hologram of a repair droid to instruct those who did not know what to do on how to repair the vehicle in dire emergencies. As well as with its main operation of saving injured soldiers, it has a very limited ... "medical crew;" Medical Droids designed to pull injured soldiers from the field, but only two droids acting as gurneys or operating tables for soldiers who are unconscious or severely injured. It was truly the "Combat Ambulance" of the Doctors dreams.

To deploy on worlds, the Maw was designed to literally be dropped from atmosphere or near the ground, its thrusters enabling to to slow itself down and angle itself properly to hit the ground just right. To get back onto the ship, it could ramp off at high speeds, with support of its thrusters, reaching a high height (depending on planets gravity), or in a static position... use its vertical thrusters upward, either way the ship using its tractor beams to finally pull the vehicle into its bay. It was built like a starship, excluding a core and main engine, although to could survive in any vacuum, excluding the deepest darkest oceans, and even... kind of travel, like a space ship. It was pressurized inside with a blast door level airlock (very tight fit) allowing for safe and interrupting travel between the outside and the passenger cabin; obvious failsafes included to make sure one door must always be at least closed. Unfortunately, it was only capable of Type I Atmospheres inside. Both Driver seats, the turret compartment, small engine room, and passenger cabin are sealed from eachother - using bulkhead doors made for sealing, so even if the airlock or a breach occurs, most rooms should stay intact.

Additional supporting pieces include the hologram projectors for the two drivers, and the larger one in the passenger cabin. The drivers holograms, assisting for the drivers small spaces, give them anything they request in a small form that the vehicle can obtain through its scanners. While the Passenger cabin allows for a battlefield map of the surrounding area around the Maw, giving its closely huddled soldiers a view of the outside before trekking out, giving them information on terrain, atmosphere, soldiers, those that are injured, and those that are enemies, along with other battlefield information... effectively allowing all soldiers that pile out of the Maw battle-ready strategies so they don't have to survey the field after exiting. Similar can be obtained by the gunnery crew (excluding the main gunner/co-driver, who can get everything from their holo-emitter), but they can only receive audio-given information. The vehicle has no AI, its computer can only relay information it receives from scanners, sensors, or the embedded Repair Droid AI that reads the ships diagnostics.

The downside of this magnificent beast is more or less its entire structure. Built like a mobile bunker, everything sensitive is exposed, or needs to be exposed to be fully functional. The battle field map is very short ranged unless extended, communications (subspace or local) incredibly short or unreliable unless unretracted, Drivers are near-completely exposed; although they have perfect visual with their small cockpits, they are mostly protected only by Transparisteel. Still, its a lean, mean fighting machine with its particle turrets, rear laser, and big old mass driver that it intentionally dares vehicles to come towards it.

Hi [member="Vixley CM-01"]! I will be reviewing this submission.

This is a nice submission, my only concern is it needing a timeframe for how long it can maintain this particular state of "flight". If you can put that in somewhere, using some kind of measurement I think that would be good.

[member="Jamie Pyne"] Oh, it's not even really flight. Think of it as booster thrusters or jump thrusters. It can climb vertical at full thrust about 50 feet, and then fall back down. Otherwise it's like a frog, jumping over craters, debris, etc
