The Listener

“Yeah.” Kaili said as her lips thinned and her attention set for the floor. “Like spyware, and installing it in every construct your company makes.”

The kid cleared her throat and raised her head to look back at her father. “Obviously not something I do, but I hear companies do that.” She knew her father would see through that lie as if it was water on the beach. Still, if what he said was true she had better start working on her subtlety. Not that it was one of those things that people knew her for, at least not most of the time. Kaili was a lot more like a monorail train. Sleek, pleasant to look at, but you’d never want to be hit by one. Because much like a train, Kaili fought with her entire being. Where Aela would rely on her wits and protection, Kaili would be more likely to force her opponent into a state of constant defense. Not to the point where she tired herself out — she had been raised better than that — but Kaili was most certainly not going to let attacks of opportunity go to waste.

And even then, she never struck to kill. That just wasn’t who Kaili envisioned herself as.

At least not at the moment.

“Okay then, so if you could be anyone — other than the person you are now — who would you be then?” Kaili asked out of genuine curiosity. “King of the Outer Rim? Dantooine Farmhand, maybe?”

Kaili snickered before providing her last ‘suggestion’. “... Dark Lord of the Sith?”
