Overview
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A united, utilitarian military force that specializes in combat against Force Sensitive beings by placing an emphasis on training and the master of the ancient martial art form Teras Kasi. They are a well organized, culturally diverse fighting force with a meritocratic organization. Accepting of all beings, they do not discriminate due to sex, species or creed. They are vehemently opposed to slavery in all its aspects and will openly and actively work to disrupt and dismantle slaver's operations and slave markets.

Their primary focus is on the common people, whom often at times can view the Jedi and Sith as one in the same without the proper understanding of the specifics that split the two opposing factions. They hold that originally it was the precursors to the Jedi order that began centuries of strife and warfare by their bigoted view, when they banished those whom sought to understand the bogan, thus creating the first schism between Force Users. Additionally they do not view the 'Force' as a mystical field, and rather view it as something that can be explained logically and scientifically, while actively working to disseminate this knowledge to the general populace.

Among their core beliefs is one that maintains the separation of a child from its family to be trained in the use of the Force is both morally and ethically wrong. They continue that it is this action of separating a child from a neutering family setting for the isolation and stripping of their feelings in a monastic setting without a formal choice is a strong precursor to that individuals fall to what is called the 'Dark Side' of the Force. It is further concluded that these actions as taken by the Jedi, socially stagnate the child and aid int he development of isolationist and anti-social behaviors that also act as additional precursors for those individuals in the past that had also fallen to the 'Dark Side.'

These views and beliefs have formed the basis of important focal points of the Brotherhood of Steel; First that the Force is naturally neutral and that there is no 'Light Side' or 'Dark Side.' Second; that the training of beings to use the Force as a weapon from a young age is morally and ethically reprehensible. Third; these form the primary basis and edict that the Brotherhood of Steel shall not, will not at any time ever train a child in the use of Teras Kasi or remove a child from their family.

Hierarchy
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Organized in structured and yet wholly mobile function, the Order of the Knights of Kal'Shebbol is designed to ensure that greatest success with the greatest amount of autonomy between the working organizations. With the primary body of governance being The Circle which is comprised of the highest ranking members within the Order itself, the Hierarchy serves more as a guiding hand rather than having a firm iron-fist grasp upon all aspects of the Order itself. In this way they are more easily adaptable to change and less likely to be bunched together in any one single location to prevent a complete destruction of the Order.

However in the event that the Circle itself is somehow removed, the members of the overall Order are trained to act upon their own will. With this decentralized model in terms of leadership, it allows the Order freedom and ensures that it will continue to live on.
  • Grandmaster - A title used to recognize the head of the order. The position is earned through election and the merits of the one whom is seeking the position. In terms of it being an elected seat, the title of Grandmaster and thus the recognized head of the order comes from a collective acknowledgement of those Masters sitting of the Circle.
  • The Circle - Similar in function to that of the Jedi High Council, the Circle is comprise of a gathering of thirteen Knight Commanders of the order, from among which is elected the Grandmaster. In this capacity the Circle acts as advisers and aids the Grandmaster in guiding the actions of the Order to ensure that they remain in unison with their beliefs and tenants. Among those members whom sit on the Circle are the Grandmaster, the Master of the Armory, and the Chronicler
  • Master of the Armory - Described easily through its own name; whomever holds this position is justly that. The Master of the Armory is the being charged with ensuring the production of the arms and armor that are utilized in the missions by the Knights of Kal'Shebbol. Along with this charge comes the duty to train new Armorers while also grooming their own potential successor.
  • Chronicler - A fount of wisdom unto themselves, the Chronicler is the master of the Archivist, whom seek out ancient relics of the Jedi Order, Sith Order and the Force based organizations in between. This being alone is charged with overseeing the acquisition, study and ultimate hiding of these powerful relics and artifacts created by Force Users.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Initiation Ceremony
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A simple ceremony in which an Initiate whom has been deemed ready is advanced to the rank of Brother or Sister within the Order. Rather than being one that stands on splendor or some otherwise over the top show of gesture (such as lighting a circle of lightsabers.) The ceremony itself is often one of quiet contemplation and reflection, during which the Initiate (overseen by at least three members of the Circle) and their own master is given their oathblade, upon which they swear to uphold the beliefs of the Order of the Knights of Kal'Shebbol.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Goals
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  • The establishment of a neutrally aligned dominion of space for the protection and well being of those individuals and their families seeking refuge from the continued warring and violence wrought by the vying Force Using organizations in their own costly and devastating wars that seem to spread across the galaxy.
  • Establishing a repository and archive of dangerous Force Relics to prevent their use by Force based Organizations through ensuring their secrecy and that they are locked away from the Galaxy.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Closing Statement
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Knights of Kal'Shebbol were originally written and designed as an Order of warriors that are opposed to the training of Children in using the Force and the overall view of constant war that has resulted due in part to the original schism between those on Tython that sought to learn about the Dark Side of the Force and those that forbade its use.

Thus the faction itself is one in which the overall favoring of character archetypes is that of those that are incapable of using the Force. In itself the Faction is designed to provide for a means to help train those that would otherwise seek a means to either defend themselves from Force users or aid in their ability to prevent otherwise devastating destruction at the hands of a force user. However this should not be taken as an open declaration of hostilities between the Order of the Knights of Kal'Shebbol and those such orders as the Jedi and the Sith. Nor should this be taken as the intent that the Order itself will be training assassins or other such beings to openly hunt down Force Users. Rather this is a declaration of the founding of an order that seeks neutrality while at the same time not shying away from training others to protect themselves.

If there are those with questions, comments or concerns, I ask that you please voice them and I will do the best that I can in my own capacities to offer a satisfactory response.

You could always make a new character for the Faction. [member="Bond"]
I wouldn't really say that they are. If anything I think of them as their own thing. Unlike the Templars, they're not out actively looking for Force Users and wanting to lock them up in Circle Towers or view Force Users entirely as a danger (as they are willing to admit that there are some Force Practitioners that have the good of others in mind) they're just often outweighed by those with their own motives first. Likewise, unlike the Brotherhood of Steel, they're not about dangling technology or withholding it from people. They genuinely want to help those people whom are often not thought of during Galactic wide conflicts, which are the normal everyday citizen. I can see where you're drawing that correlation from though as they do resemble parts of both of those orders.

Ah, I had been thinking mainly of The Washington Chapter of the BoS when I asked that (the ones who actually try to protect people) and of how the Templars had originally been formed solely just to protect people from out of control Mages as the First Inquisition.

I'm interested to see where this faction will be going in the future.

Additional information will be added as needed. I'm also looking over the initial write up in order to further expand and bring it to a more up to date version.
