The Journals of Etorre Agnusdei, M.D. - Volume IV

In the course of my duties and experiments, I have realized that I simply cannot be in multiple locations simultaneously. I therefore sought a method with which to accomplish this. If I could not do so directly by moving rapidly from location to location, I would do so remotely.

The methodology, however, eluded me. I investigated creating Human Replica Droids, but realized that they could not necessarily be slaved to a single source or programming. Discarding the concept, I investigated further, even delving into impartial and incomplete files dating back to the Gulag plague and before. There are few, and those that remain are fragmented, a few passages of the things at best, but they exist.

I have found a passage detailing a reference to a type of holographic training droid. I have sent a few Sith agents laying about to retrieve more copies of this database or other databases that reference such a thing. They have their leads and their tools. I should have more information soon...

The agents I have sent out have returned. Some have proven successful, others have failed me. It is no matter, of course. Failure is simply another aspect of endeavors taken. However, Sith follow ideals and moral paths that I, myself, do not and care little for. I have given the names of those who have failed to [member="Darth Shara"] for punishment detail. They will survive the ordeal, or the will not. It matters little to me, personally.

One of the Sith agents, who's name escapes me, returned with a more complete copy of the database, though this, too, was heavily fragmented. The original data referenced and depicted heavily deteriorated and corrupt files of what seemed to be a cloning technique from an old military research project. I saw what may have been the word "Midichlorians" in the data, but the word was incomplete and I can only hazard a guess. Perhaps they were attempting the impossible and tried cloning a Force user. Commendable, but foolish if such is the case. It would be doomed to complete failure as Midichlorians react poorly to the cloning process. Even if one were successful to grow a clone to maturity, the creature would be completely insane and utterly useless for anything but fertilizer.

However, the data did mention something about a holographic training droid. The new text seems to go into more depth on this topic, but I will need to attempt recreating parts of the corrupted data. Perhaps there is more to be found on this matter than what there appears to be...

I have reached a modicum of success, I believe. The data mentioned little on how the droids were built and list no technical plans, schematics, or blueprints whatsoever, but they do describe how the droids operated, though this is limited as the data is heavily corrupted despite my best efforts.

What little I can glean from the ancient database is that the droids were capable of holographic imaging encompassing their bodies. This allowed them to mimic the appearance and, apparently, the voice of whoever they impersonated. It seems the droids were used for training purposes, perhaps for combat training, but little is mentioned aside from their apparent basic levels of blaster and melee weapon use. Nothing else is mentioned explicitly or even referenced to, which leads me to believe that if there was more data on the droids referenced, they are either long forgotten or lost entirely, if they existed at all.

This is, however, sufficient for my needs. I shall begin experimenting with different models and programming soon...

After much time and deliberation, I have selected a few chassis options with which to attempt tests upon. All are humanoid of my height and are made from a variety of materials, each design featuring its own, unique parameters. The main droids chassis I have deemed suited for final testing are the following three designs in this entry.

Chassis A is a humanoid design featuring standard internal droid components with an armor-grade durasteel chassis. Initial testing shows the droid is capable of withstanding incoming fire and is resilient to damage, but lacks the necessary range of movement needed to accurately portray myself and to complete tasks with fine manual dexterity.

Chassis A is more resilient and heavily armored than the others, but is less dexterous than the rest. Perhaps this may be alleviated with a design improvement.

Chassis B is another humanoid design that shows promise. I left the chassis unarmored aside from basic armorweave overlays here and there on the chassis itself. The frame is alusteel, leaving it more durable than the other models as well as much lighter. The only issue I have with the design is the lack of protection for the droid itself as the machine is easily prone to damage.
Chassis B fully constructed. I find fault with the lack of armor, but the frame is more resilient and the overall machine is lighter, which is beneficial in some ways.

The final chassis is what I believe to be the most promising of the three. I designed Chassis C with anti detection in mind. The droid features reinforced duraplast armor, making it resistant to damage and can even protect against, perhaps, a glancing blow from a lightsaber. This aspect, however, has not been tested fully. The armor is blaster and ballistic resistant, however, which is most beneficial. Should this droid chassis prove effective and win out against the rest, I may begin more... detailed improvements on the design.

Chassis C features reinforced duraplast armor plating and features better anti-detection abilities and far better dexterity than previous designs.

Success has become apparent once again. Chassis C has won out in the rigorous testing regime I put all three candidates through. The reinforced duraplast armor is indeed lightly resistant against lightsabers, though only equivalent to armorweave in durability. A solid blow cleaves through the plating, though glancing attacks fail to penetrate. The droid's dexterity is equivalent to Chassis B, but is far more heavily armored, though not quite as armored as Chassis A. In total, this is the optimum middle ground in droid design.

I installed a top quality holographic projector from the Coruscanti underworld and installed the device onto the droid itself. I also took the time to install a shield generator onto the droid, much like the one featured in my own mask. Electrical conduits and wires within the droid body were reinforced and insulated to prevent ion damage, though for some frustrating reason ion damage will still disrupt the hologram projection, if only for a short time. I shall have to attend this flaw at a later time as I must continue with the droid's construction for now.

At this point, it becomes necessary to begin programming the droid itself. Taking complete brain scans of my own mind, I then placed the scans into a computer program. This portion of the design took the longest and occupied me for weeks as I converted the brain scans to a readable computer operating system. The computer program I used made this relatively easy, but the task was time consuming to the extreme.

When complete, this program will allow the droid to act, speak, react, and appear in all ways as myself to anyone and everyone observing or interacting with the machine. Possibilities of droid rebellion or rejection of commands and programming have been taken into account and the program is slaved to my own orders and passcodes, with my voice as the trigger. For all intents and purposes, the droid will be me, but will only listen to the precise orders of myself. In fact, I can transmit these codes and phrases through the commlink built into the droid itself, bypassing the need for audible orders to be heard entirely. This program will be a profound step towards my primary goals with this design...

The programming is complete and has been uploaded into a redundant droid brain. Initial diagnostics show that the droid brain has accepted the program fully and there were no glitches or data errors in the upload process. The droid brain I acquired is a Class Four advanced droid brain system. Generally used for battle droids and the like, this particular droid brain is used for Assassin Droids.

I wiped the brain of unnecessary protocols, namely identification codes and serial numbers, to provide a clear template for the new programming. I kept the basic assassination protocols for melee fighting, but ultimately removed the ranged ability training. I deemed it unnecessary.

All in all, the resulting droid brain allows the droid to maintain speed, dexterity, lethality, and to run the full program I have installed which allows it to mimic myself in every way.

After mounting the droid brain with the custom programming, the droid has proved highly capable of all parameters set before it. The droid mimics my appearance perfectly from shoes to mask through the hologram projector. The voice modulator matches my own perfectly, even my terminology and method of speech. The droid's mannerisms are my own to the exact degree as well. All in all, the droid is an exact, perfect replica of myself.

At this point, I took the liberty of installing two more items into the droid. A pair of gas dispersion canisters were installed to the droid's faceplate to mimic my mask's own aerosol dispersion system. I also coated the droid in Reflec, a polymer known for stopping sensors and more than able to help augment the holographic abilities of the droid itself. All of this combined should give the droid a good chance at avoiding detection and mimicking myself to the extreme degree of accuracy.

The droid now completed, I issued a simple cane that matches my own to complete the ensemble. I allowed the droid to wander the complex and observed that it quite easily fooled many of the Sith within the structure quite easily. I am most pleased with this design.

In fact, I decided to expand the production ever so slightly. I created five more of the droids, exactly the same way as I had before. Each of the same chassis and each with the same upgrades. The programs were loaded into each droid brain and each droid features this customized Class Four brain. In a subsequent testing, the droids ran amok in the facility causing confusion throughout the Sith here all while doing menial tasks I had sent them to do.

I did take one final liberty. I uploaded a final program that allows me to take direct control of the droid if need be. This allows me to focus a more... heightened mind to the droid's tasks, allowing an increased output of efficiency for a single droid at any time. This ability can be accessed remotely, though only from a specific computer terminal with the required program to do so.
