Description:
Liliane Lancaster, the Jedi Marshal of the New Jedi Order, both afraid of losing her title after the Jedi Hounds dissolved and the desiring to create her own sub-unit in the NJO one day, came up with the idea to introduce the Sapphire Scourge unit to the Order, consisting of different Jedi whose main function would be infiltration, fast-paced manoeuvring and extremely mobile movement.
However, every unit needed a set of equipment and the first and foremost of them all would surely be an armour. So the Jedi Marshal met with the people of Firemane to draft up a simple yet useful set of armour for the soon-to-be-formed sub-unit of the New Jedi Order.
The need for mobility in mind, the main goal was to use lightweight materials and functions that would help the unit move as fast and efficiently as possible. Therefore, armorweave and duraplast were used to make up the foundation of the armour. However, the technology inside the armour had to remain basic so that the light weight of the two materials used wouldn't be counterbalanced by the huge amounts of tech inside.
So the armour ended up being really simple, mostly consisting of stuff one would find from most other mass-produced armours. Another huge drawback was the lack of protection against kinetic force. However, the need for a good lightsaber- and blaster-resistance was greater, meaning getting rid of the problem of kinetic impact was not a goal.
The Sapphire Scourge, as it is a Jedi unit, would use the Jedi Silencer armour along with mere lightsabers and blasters and would never engage in direct large-scale battles, but instead would infiltrate into the enemy ranks and dive their way out one opponent at a time. Therefore, the armour was created as it is.
