Umbarans-SWE.jpg
Sagdara, the capital city of Umbara
Now, that Dominator wasalready a padawan and had been on various missions, it was time to see his former home planet Umbara again. The Republic has never made it to the planet anymore since the time, when Dominator was chosen. Nron... It was Dominator's name. And it still is, but only his mother knows it. No one else. Not even Kaleeya. Umbarese language was so different from Galactic Basic Standard, that Dominator didn't even remember, what a letter or a word means. But still, he remembered very much. But on Sagdara, Galactic Basic Standard was forbidden. Totally.

Dominator talked with the man again. V-34S' master or whoever he was. The man had many starships and even some Jedi Starfighters. "Can you give me a Starfighter again?" Dominator asked from the man. The man nodded and they walked to hangar. Many of the starships were already rented, but one, the Starfighter, what Dominator used last time, was still available. "I'll take this one." He said and jumped to the Starfighter. "Maybe you would take V-34S with you again?" The man asked. Dominator thought. Then he nodded and the man called V-34S.

Now, Dominator flew towards his birth planet. He hoped to see all the good memories again. Well, there weren't many of them, but still. Maybe his childhood friends are still on the planet? It would be great, if they were. Actually, Sagdara's government didn't let almost anyone leave the planet. Only some very important people were given a chance, but the maximal time to be away was a year. Umbaran year. Still, in history, only about ten people left the planet for a longer time. Some of them were senators, some were members of the Separatist Confederacy. But then, there was Dominator. He was taken from the planet.

Dominator landed on the planet and hoped for a friendly welcome party or something, but then everything went bad. At the moment he landed, many City Guards took their weapons and started to shoot at him. What is going on? Dominator thought. It was unnormal, that they welcome their own natives with a fight. But if they wanted it, Dominator had to fight with them. He jumped out of the Starfighter and landed on ground in a defensive position.

“This is quite the spectacle.”

“Miss Dorn, what's going on. Why are they firing at him?”

Karin wrinkled her nose in disgust like the sassy gasbag she was,I don't know. Do I look like Queen Catalyst to you? Come to think of it, why am I even speaking to you?”

“Well, ma'am...because I speak basic.”

I bet that you're pondering a few questions, why is Karin Dorn here? How did she get here? Who is Karin Dorn anyway? Well, if told you then I'd ruin the surprise. I mean, I might not even have a surprise...or maybe I'm just luring you into a false sense of security. Nonetheless! Miss Karin Dorn is irrelevant, she's a nice yet snarky lady. What? Sith Master title? What are you yammering on about! She is a sassy middle-aged woman, I swear! Hold on? Why is she loitering at the docks? You need to stop with your questions, because at this stage in time, you're just doubting the Force.

It moves in mysterious ways, y'know? Chance meetings. There are no coincidences here.

Back to the dialogue.

“Well perhaps this poor fellow speaks basic and at the moment he's much more interesting than you,” and with that Karin swanned off to help out the traveller, “...so farewell...eh...sir.”

“It's Jorus, Miss Dorn...”

Funnily enough, we never hear from Jorus ever again.

The Sith did not hide her peculiar brand of force signature, no, she would be honest in at least that aspect. She did not reek of death, violence and soul crushing darkness. Karin was an oddity who brought forth a sense of unease in a person. Oh sure, it's fun to frighten bunnies with unfiltered terror but it's so much more satisfying to leave them squirming in visible discomfort.

She approached the scene unarmed, her lightsaber hilt sat at her belt and hopefully it would remain there. “You look like you need a hand,” she shouted to the stranger, hoping deep down that he spoke Galactic Basic, otherwise she was going to look rather silly.

Dominator was surprised and disappointed. He wanted to be happy and talk about life with fellow Umbarans, but now, they just wanted to kill the padawan. maybe they hate him, because he joined The Republic and The Jedi Order? It wasn't right. Even Umbara should've known, that they have to join The Republic some day too. But Umbarans have always been against everything so good. They thought, that they are better or something.

The Dominator heard a woman talking in Basic. The first thought Dominator had, was Isn't she scared at all? Well, maybe he was a Jedi. Umbarans aren't very dangerous for Jedi. Well, the planet was in the shadows all time and Umbarans were great in shadows, but... Jedi were better. Then Dominator answered: "Well, I need help!" Then he looked at an Umbaran, who came to kill him. And then he realized, that the Umbaran was his childhood friend. Dominator wanted to say something, but it would've caused big problems.

He needed help and she was offering, so what are we waiting for?

The question that was now posed was how to play this. The woman obviously wasn't going to charge in with slaughter on the mind. I'm sure other Sith would have despised her for that very thought process but she did not care what other Sith thought. Besides, defusing a situation using the means of a pacifist was far more impressive and left so many doors of opportunity open at the end of it all.

“I feel like this situation is hostile,” she smirked, addressing everybody at the scene, “whether you understand me or not is of little importance. All I want, is your attention.”

This was a focal point in diffusing tensions, now that she had pulled some focus is was time to assert herself. This was where Karin Dorn would shine. They say that Umbaran people could oh-so-subtly influence the minds of others but this was a Sith Master who specialised in affecting and moulding the thoughts of others.

What the woman excreted at this moment was the aforementioned aura of discomfort. There would be tinges of fear, uncertainty and just a general strangeness in the air and all present would have surely been feeling it. It wasn't an overpowering sensation by all means, no, this was subtle and it was merely building up for what was about to be a grand display of the most basic Force Power known.

The Force push.

While entirely unnecessary, Karin gave a broad sweeping gesture with both arms to demonstrate that she did indeed hold power and with this a wave of the force washed over all of the assailants, knocking them firmly onto their backsides.

This was the warning. If they did not receive the message and pursued then things were going to take a rather grim turn. Miss Dorn did not break her back to spare lives.

“It looks like I was in the right place at the right time. How handy.”

Dominator was amazed by the woman's skills. Maybe he really was a Jedi Knight or even Master. "Thank you for the help, master..." Dominator said, but he didn't know the woman's name. Then he remembered... V-34S. He was still in the Starfighter. He wiped with his hand and the Starfighter opened. V-34S flew out and landed next to Dominator. "What a bad master..." V-34S commented quietly, so Dominator didn't hear it.

V-34S' emotions and feelings were turned off again. In meanwhile, between the mission to Naboo and the mission on Naval Station, V-34S' master said to Dominator, that he had to turn the droid's feelings and thinking off, because he would only cause problems on Naboo.

Rule One: The first impression is everything.

“...it's Karin,” the woman chirped with a rather polite smile on her face, suffice to say, this did not suit her. Oh no, the Sith would smirk and she would grin but never would she hand out expressions reserved for the pure paragons of this Galaxy. It was marmalade sweet, and by that I mean it was sticky and only meant for small helpings.

“Karin Dorn, if you'd like it in full. You may call me Karin, you may call me Dorn, you can even call me Miss Karin or Lady Dorn if that's what takes your fancy. All I ask is that you never ever call me Kaz.”

It was a peculiar introduction to say the least, but it had to be stated, the woman really loathed that nickname.

“So tell me,” the Sith enquired, playing the role of nosy old crow, “what brings you here? Are you local? Friends? Family? A relaxing holiday in a world plunged in darkness?” Karin took a pause to itch that same old spot on the back of her head, she would surely need to get some cream prescribed for that. “Don't mind the questions, by the way. I'm just curious as to why anybody comes here. It's a rather....depressing place.”

Rule Two: Insult Umbara directly in front of Umbarans, it's terribly fun.

Dominator nodded, when master Dorn told him her name. He wanted to smile or even laugh, when she said to never call her Kaz. So he decided to call her master Dorn, like he had been taught.

"I came here, because I wanted to visit the planet again... I came from the planet. I was born here. I came back to see my friends and family... But now I want to leave the place, I am so disappointed. A Republic hero comes to his home planet again and is greeted by a stupid army. I have to agree. This place is depressing." Dominator agreed and looked at V-34S, who already shook hands with Umbaran citizens.

Egads! The depression is contagious!

Oh my. Cheer up, will you?” Karin smirked, the true face of the Sith was coming out to play, and by the true face I simply meant that we were done with all that polite smiling nonsense. It was time for dramatics and flair! It needed to be said, the woman had the acting chops of a old professional, Karin was pretty convinced that if she felt so inclined she could just hang up the lightsaber and enjoy a career on the stage.

Enough of all that however, her interest had just been piqued.

“You don't have to leave, you know,” she said conversationally, “for starters you haven't even said hello to your family! I'd think they'd be rather heartbroken if you just turned around and left!” I know what you're thinking, 'what is her motive?' Well honestly, I have no idea. Just go with the flow.

“I for one am quite curious as to why a Republic hero has been given quite a poor reception. Perhaps we should make a trip, smooth things out with some diplomats. Surely they'd have a decent reason for trying to blast you to bits! I mean, I don't even know you and I'm outraged! I will not leave this planet without answers!”

This was standard Karin Dorn melodrama.

“So are you going to flee? Or are you going to come with me to get these answers?”

"Before I answer your last question, I have to say, that my family hates me. They abandoned me!" Dominator said and looked at the woman. She seemed strange. "I won't leave. I want to come with you!" Then he put his lightsaber back and nodded. He didn't want to see his family. His mother was stupid old b***h, who should die. What? Dominator didn't think like that.
