The Green Meadows Of Naboo

Jake Sorin

Guest
It was weird, Jake never thought....ever that he would even go to a place as bright and pretty as a meadow.

Well there is a first time for everything. Jake walked off a transport ship and walked around in the grass before continuing forward.

Jake walked up a hill and found a nice place to sit, from a distance all you could see was lush green and a black spec.

He looked off into the distance and almost cracked a smile but decided not to....there was no reason to.

Keturah walked through the meadow, her amber-gold eyes bright and twinkling. Naboo was a really pretty planet, especially during the summer. She usually liked cities. But today, she was in a meadow kind of mood. In her hand, she held a few yellow flowers. She didn't know what kind they were, but they smelled very nice to her. As she lazily strolled through the waving grass, she noticed someone sitting on top of a hill next to her. It looked like a boy with relatively dark clothes on. Curious, Keturah decided to go and see him.

Jake brushed his hands by through the grass...

There were a few flowers around but he didn't care f for them.

He actually picked one up not noticing the girl near him and sang a verse from a song he heard once.

"Yellow roses
The color of sunshine
You loved me at one time
Why did you have to go
Yellow roses" he sang in a mellow tone

Keturah slowly approached the boy, listening to him sing. He had a nice voice, and it was a pretty song. She stopped a few feet away from him, cradling the flowers in the palms of her hands, her fingers linked. "That's a sad song, but it's pretty, too," She said quietly, Her amber-gold eyes studying him.

Jake quickly jumped when he heard a girl speak about the song he was singing.

He turned around and looked at the beautiful girl.

He blushed a little "I-i-i didn't k-now you were there, I-il leave." He said a little embarrassed that the girle heard him sling.

He looked at the girl, just kept starring at her.

Keturah laughed a bit. "No, it's okay. It's my fault for sneaking up on you like that. Sorry, by the way." She smiled. She sat down on the ground near him. "My name's Keturah," She said, "What's yours?"

"My name is Jake, Jake Sorin it is nice to meet you Keturah. If you were male you'd be hurt right now" he said with a playful laugh.

"What ya doing in a bright meadow like this?" He asked.

Keturah gestured to the entirety of the sunny field. "Why wouldn't I be out here?" She said happily. She looked up at the sky. "It's sunny, it's breezy, and there's not a cloud to be seen. It's like the outside was just begging me to come and enjoy it."

"Pft...oh yeah its soo sunny, oooo and the grass is soft!" Jake said sarcastically while putting his hands on his face and fluttering his eyes.

He actually smiled, it was way to bright for Jake's taste... wait wa0hat was Jake doing on Naboo

He crushed the yellow rose like plant between his hand.

Keturah cocked a brow, a small smirk appearing on her face. "You don't really like bright, happy things do you?" She said, making a slightly sad face when he crushed the flower. She scooped up the petals and layed them on her skirt lovingly. "That was mean. The flower didn't do anything to you," Her voice sounded genuinely sad.

"Bright and happy things are no so comforting to me." Jake said with a slight frown.

Then she made a sad face as soon as he crushed the flower.

She then scooped up the flowers an nd asked what they did to him.

Jake thought for a moment, what did the flowers do to him.

"I'm sorry ma'am, I didn't mean to." He lied, he actually ment to crush the flower, but he wasn't expecting her to be upset.

He picked another flower and held it out to her.

"Here, a new one." He said beaming a slight smile to her, now only if he wasn't as sad, this would be a nice place.

Keturah took the new flower from Jake and smelled it. She put it with the others she had already picked. "Why not? You don't like being happy?" She asked him, her eyes bright and questioning. It was hard for her to understand a logic like that.

"The only happy memories I had were with my father, but got killed five years ago when I was ten." He said softly witha sad tone in his voice.

his eyes went down before he looked up again, he was tearing up a bit, some sadness and anger swelled inside him, but he held it back.

Keturah looked down. "Oh. I'm sorry to hear that..." She said sadly. She looked over at him again. "You shouldn't let the pain of it all weigh you down, though. You said your happiest memories were with your father. Obviously, there are many more happy memories with him than sad ones, right? Maybe instead of trying so hard to forget the bad, you should try your best to remember the good." She said reassuringly. She looked up at the sky. "My mother died when I was born. I never knew her, but my father did. I have a feeling that when he lost her, he lost himself, too. And because of that, he's never really been able to truly love me as his daughter. He focused soley on the fact that she was dead, and forgot about the time he had spent with her, as well as who they had created together." Her voice became softer and depressed. Her gaze rested on the yellow petals on her skirt.

"You might be right, I should try that" he said with a smile. He felt a bit better now that she said that. She said her sad story and Jake felt a bit bummed. "I am sorry..." Jake said softly. He looked at her and he noticed she was looking at the yellow pedals on her skirt.

"Somthing wrong?" He asked in a friendly tone.

He felt bad for her, he felt bad for himself he quickly frowned, not wanting to seem too happy around her

Keturah was silent for a few minutes. Then she laughed a little bit and smiled. "Nope. Nothing's wrong right now," She said. "I'm in a meadow on Naboo, on a perfect day, and I just made a new friend," She looked over at him. "It's a good day."

"Ok I w take your word 'friend' " he said witha smile.

What he said rang I his head over and over, the closest thing he had to a frien was his mother...and well that's not too fun.

A actual friend, well that's a first Jake.

He smiled and looked at her.

"It is a good day."

Keturah reached into a little hidden pocket on her skirt and pulled out two suckers. She popped one in her mouth and held out the other one for him. "Here. Do you like cherry?" She asked.

Jake couldn't help but smile. He happily accepted the cherry sucker and popped it into his mouth. "Thank you Keturah" he smiled though he disliked cherry he couldn't leave it and turn it down.

He smiled again.

For once he is happy
