SPECIAL FEATURES
10 Molecular Furnaces
5 Foundry Facilities
2 Factory Complexes
Several Advanced Scanners
Automated Computer systems
Strengths:
Valuable: Producing at full operation over ten tens of any material (given that supplies are available) the Freedom is capable of producing more capital than some lesser worlds
Fully Automated: There is not one organic of even artificial aboard the ship, only a massive computer that runs the entire station
Weaknesses:
Slicing: Should the station’s computer be hacked, no easy task, then a person could command the station to build nearly whatever they desired, within the capabilities of the station
Commandeering: A coordinated attack could easily board the station and from there attempt to steal production of the station
Unshielded: Lacks shields for protection, beyond the basic shields to keep asteroids and similar astronomical events from damaging it
Description:
The Freedom was designed to be a simple production facility of valuable materials. The main idea behind the production was to create more economic freedom to allow him to experiment as he would without dealing with nearly as many difficulties as other organizations.
The main feature of the Freedom is the battery of Molecular Furnaces, enough to create significant amounts of most materials, if they have the resources. The Foundries and Factories then take the raw materials and turn them into whatever is needed by the Station or Ultimatum at the time. The entire station is run by a massive computer based AI that controls everything from Furnace production to maintenance. As there is no need for oversight or fully formed organics in the facility, there is no hallway or similar structure beyond the hangar bays and related rooms. The entirety of the station outside of those areas has only small corridors the size of mouse droids and the like to allow small maintenance droids to roam and repair as needed.
Due to the value of the station and its contents, it contains memory data of such minerals as aurodium and over high-value materials, and the ability to produce them on a larger scale, the station’s safety from attack was considered a priority. At the same time, it was important to be as efficient as possible. Ultimatum opted to neglect shielding almost entirely and focus what little he had in mind on armor. The station has a relatively thick Duranium armor, but no weapons. The station’s main defense is its location, in dead space outside any known hyperspace routes and too far from any stars to even be seen by the strongest of sensors. This does not make its discovery entirely impossible, as Ultimatum has to maintain connection with the station which proves that it can be found, the likelihood of such is far diminished.
The computer itself is only slightly better than a droid’s AI, only because it is required to run an entire station without mishap. The security of the system is lax on the coding part because Ultimatum did not anticipate a direct threat from slicers, given the out of the way location of the station. This would allow a competent slicer to overwhelm the security given some time, and physically commandeering the station is not beyond possibility. Ultimatum would then rely on the ability of the station to send out an emergency transmission to call for help.
