The First Two Steps. (Message for invite)

Location: Civilian Space Station, Courascant.

With an impassive stare, the nameless Sith Elgyn rested before one of the station's great viewports surveying the starry abyss beyond. His booted feet were propped on the back of the chair opposite, doing nothing to alleviate the discomfort of the seat which had been designed with functionality foremost. All around people passed on their meaningless tasks, completely unheeded by the man who waited there.

From the description he knew he was expecting quite a tall man for his new apprentice; the data he had listed more than two meters in height, easily outclassing any other he had taught. Intrigued by the contrast with himself, Elgyn pondered possible avenues of training while the spaceport pulsed around him. The steps of a plan were forming in his mind already, and having an apprentice along to assist would indeed speed things along.

During his long sleep his belongings had been cast to the far reaches of the galaxy. Tracking them was taking most of his attention of late. One such object he'd located in the ownership of a collector of curiosities -- the small landing craft dedicated to a similar but much larger class of ship which he was still in the process of tracking down. Original Haor Chall Coronas were highly prized, but this individual had settled for one of the Flarestar complement from Elgyn's own frigate.

But if he could get that, he could use its subspace beacon find his ship, and that was the important thing. For now, though, he had an apprentice to meet.

A heavy footfall made itself known as Rexus approached the Sith that was now going to be his master. Though Rexus had his hood raised, his appearance was still enough to cause a commotion among the common people. In addition to masking his face, Rexus had gone to some lengths to augment his appearance further. He now wore additional armor plating that ultimately made him look more knightly in appearance.

Regardless of their actions or reactions, they all parted before Rexus in what was a quick and efficient manner. The stares and whispered tones of the civilians all had one thing in common: Fear. They were intimidated by the "thing" working it's way about. Upon reaching his master, Rexus knelt before him, his characteristic red skin visible only for a scant moment or two. The acolyte spoke, his voice twisted and distorted thanks to the respirator situated upon the lower half of his face.

" Master.."

Rexus spoke and his tone carried a hint of reverence in it. He had resolved to assist his master or do whatever they commanded in order to acquire their teachings. This was only the start however. Rexus wouldn't stop until he had both the power and the knowledge to forge his own destiny. He had been robbed of it once. He wouldn't experience that failure again. As if on cue, a surge of hate flared within the very core of Rexus' being. Rexus was host to a very palpable and powerful set of few emotions. They were strong but easy to manipulate or mold depending on the "artist".

Nevertheless, Rexus remained silent and kneeling as he awaited word from his master.

"You may call me Chaos" Elgyn said out loud.

The darkside bloomed cold as the student appeared and knelt. It was the typical unchanged tradition that always seemed a little bit dramatic. He did respect that the traditions were in place for a reason. The kneeling was a symbol of services as much as it was respect. However the being that had lowered his impressive form before him had yet to earn the shi'ido's trust. The student was large and imposing, good attributes for a Sith Lord.

"A sith true blood? "Elgyn smirked at Rexus, a bounce of true excited echoing in his voice , Rexus was quite a big one. A very rare species in the galaxy to the Shi'ido's knowledge. They were rare even in the time of Elgyn's youth. "You are not a slave, you are Sith. Stand up and stop subjugating yourself in front of the lesser beings." Trying to feed into the trueblood's pride he held out a hand.

"Come, big guy. My shuttle is close. Perhaps as we make our way there you can dazzle me a story of blood you have shed. The more melodramatic the better." He chuckled as he urged the Sith to follow.

" As you wish, Chaos. "

Rexus stood at the command of his master though the use of the word "slave" irked Rexus. The following comments about lesser beings did well to dissipate the ire brought on by the word slave. Chaos was right. The people around them were all lesser. Rexus would then bless a nearby civilian with a stare that, by all appearances, seemed to visibly frighten said civilian. Chaos had also brought up an interesting point regarding blood. Rexus knew enough of the Sith to know that he was possessed of a rare bloodline. Rexus had heard that his blood was considered sacred or even noble in some circles.

" A story? There isn't much. I grew up in fighting pits. Man, alien, beast...It didn't matter who or what i fought. I opened them from head to toe all the same. I caved in the skull of a Wookie once. Got lucky with that one. "

Rexus trusted that Chaos got the rather grizzly terminology used. It was the truth and though it wasn't melodramatic, Rexus had very little to give. The overseers kept Rexus for that reason and probably that reason alone. Not wanting to disappoint, Rexus decided to dig into the moments of his life he would rather forget than bring up again.

" There was a revolt. I butchered my way through security and just as vengeance was within my grasp.."

Rexus trailed off, his mind reliving the events quite vividly. The talk was something that, despite creating an ever turbulent storm of hate and doubt within Rexus, probably needed to be said.

" The other slaves stole what was mine. I killed them. All of them "

In accordance with his masters will, Rexus goes into detail about every ghastly murder that occurred that day. Though the kills described were not meant to be sadistic, each was unique in just about every way save for one detail: They were brutal . Exceedingly brutal.

The gaping way bent into a wide corridor, the doors opening with their approach as Elgyn kept his lead. He listened to the pureblood’s story with an eager ear and an indulgent nod. A person’s personal reflection on their own past always gave away more details than what was typically recorded in history or datapads. Elgyn could empathize: If he had been used as a tool of violent entertainment and little else in his life, Rexus was sure to become a walking storm. The shi’ido was only too happy to be the anvil and hammer which honed Rexus.

“You were a typical cog in a social mechanism. A cog that was chosen to be plucked and placed into a higher thinking machine.” Elgyn explained “I wish to equip you with knowledge and tools of the Darkside. But for now I will need to press your adaptive capabilities. So we are heading to Nar Shaddaa. We have an auction to slaughter. Maybe in slaughter we can see what you really are."

Rexus listened intently as Chaos spoke of cogs and mechanisms. Their talk then went on to the subject of power and finally, violence. Rexus wasn't one to keep his emotions in check not that he could if he had wanted to. He bristled with pride before a sort of yearning could be felt emanating from his being.

" They will suffer. "

Rexus stated a fact rather than a promise. The pureblood was a creature of pain and hate. He would visit a staggering amount of atrocities upon the intended targets for no real reason. Rexus had been waiting for the chance to be unleashed and, at long last, it had finally arrived.

The corridor wended along, and soon a large portal appeared where it terminated, and it was this portal to which Elgyn led his would-be apprentice. The answer made his lip twitch in a faint, sardonic smirk. He never said anything about making anyone suffer -- just making them dead. Ah, well. Let the creature have his bloodbath.

"A lot can be learned from the way a person conducts themselves in a fight," he said, passing a hand over a panel. The portal opened in an iris mechanism, revealing a small, nondescript landing craft which looked only just of a size to carry the two men. "I intend to learn as much as I can about you, chap."

He had his own agenda, of course -- no self-respecting Dark Sider would go without contingencies atop contingencies. He had need of someone he could trust, someone to be his eyes and ears, his sword and shield, so that he, Elgyn, could evolve beyond his current form. Perhaps Rexus was the very sort of individual he needed. This test would determine that. As they approached the craft its loading ramp trundled out and the rear hatch slid open. The interior space was Spartan; two seats, the sensor and piloting banks, and storage lockers. Elgyn swung into a seat, waving to Rexus to take the other as he immediately dialed up the controls.

Rexus continued to walk alongside his master whilst thinking of the conflict a head of them. The pureblood listened as he was spoken to and understood what was said about understanding. Rexus grew up in the pits. He learned very quickly that one could learn everything they needed to know about someone from observing them fight. It was a rather insightful skill for someone like Rexus but, as his master surely knew, Rexus wasn't entirely all brawn and no brain.

" I agree. The pits taught me as much. "

Rexus said in regards to the first comment. It was only when Rexus had a satisfying view of the small craft that he answered the second statement.

" Then I will learn of you as well. "

Rexus wasn't going to speak anything without having complete confidence behind every single one of his words. He would indeed be as obedient as required but he wouldn't travel much further than that. It was also that very thing that lead to Rexus reaching the points of his speaking rather quickly. He didn't draw out his answers any more than he needed to. There was no reason to do anything more. His master would find himself presented with a spectacle that Rexus hoped he would never forget.

Rexus approached the craft and noted it's rather "bare-necessities" or spartan like layout. As it was just big enough for the two of them, Rexus was forced to lean or hunch forward quite a bit to get inside. He situated himself in the seat beside his master and immediately noted how foolish he must have looked. In all likelihood, Rexus probably looked like a man trying to sit in something meant for a child. A low, modulated growl escaped the pureblood as he assisted with the take off. He had learned some skills in piloting after he left his life of slavery.

All of the discomfort aside, Rexus was pleased with how things were turning out. He would begin his rise to power soon and he would get to indulge his desire to bring about pain. It would alleviate the unending pain Rexus always felt and hopefully earn him something.
