Name: The Dead Nebula
Region: Unknown Regions
Coordinates: H23
History of the Nebula:
Thousands of years ago, before the formation of the Galactic Republic when Sleeper ships were still in use to colonize distant worlds both near and far, there was a fleet of vessels launched from Coruscant. This fleet of vessels traveled together towards the far end of the Core Worlds region, seeking to settle on the planets at the edge of the Colonies Region. However a short in their navigational computers set the vessels off course, heading rather out towards the Unknown Regions.

By the time the vessels arrived in what they would later name the Oasis Nebula, there was only five vessels remaining of the original sleeper fleet. These vessels came to the Oasis Nebula roughly between 30,000 BBY and 28,000 BBY. Each vessel settling in one of the five systems of the nebula and forming their own Kingdoms. Understanding that they all came from the same place, the Kingdoms would work together to prosper.

Under their combined alliance, the Oasis Nebula become an Oasis in the Unknown Regions, offering supplies for goods to the traveling vessels passing through the area. It wouldn't be until the late 3,600s that the Oasis Nebula was discovered by the Republic, at which point the Five Kingdoms maintained a stead relationship with the government that their long lost cousins formed. It was lucky enough to escape the ravages of the Clone Wars, The Galactic Civil Wars and the Vong war mainly due to its location being so far out in the galaxy coupled with many of the charts being lost.

Sadly like many of the Unknown Regions, it fell to the Gulag Plague. It's inhabitants that managed to survive were mutated and changed when the virus was introduced to radiation in an attempt to destroy it. Now it sits quietly as salvagers of the surviving inhabitants attempt to reclaim their lost past.

// The Planet Cir \\
Name: Cir
Region: Unknown Regions; The Dead Nebula
System: Cir System

Suns:
The planet of Cir is the only world that orbits a binary star system. The first star Cir, the name sake of the system; is a Class B Main Sequence Star. It's partner is a Copius is a Class F Main Sequence Star. It is unknown how the two stars came together as the star Copius orbits around Cir. It was thought that originally there had been six systems within the nebula, and that Cir having a higher gravity merely pulled Copius and its star system into orbit. This would explain the planet Cir being the only world left in the system, as there has been evidence to show former worlds that had been destroyed both by being pulled apart by the dull gravity of the suns, and from colliding with one another.

Orbital Position:
Cir maintains a steady orbit in the fifth orbital position, able to due so as a direct cause from the binary stars that it orbits. The stars combined light allowed for life to develop and grow on the planet Cir, while also destroying any other world within the system. In more recent years however, there has been signs of the world Cir being pulled closer to the binary stars, as its position in the fifth orbit has been slowly degrading as it heads towards the fourth orbital position. These same effects have already been seen on the worlds former moon.

Moons:
Originally Cir had a singular moon. Early in its life cycle it was terraformed by the settlers in the nebula to serve as a means to produce food due in part as Cir was the only planet in the system. The moon has since then been lost to the gravitational pull of the binary stars in the system. The record showing that the moon had been pulled out of its orbit around Cir and into the stars ten short years before the outbreak of the Gulag Virus.

Rotational Period: 24 Standard Hours
Orbital Period: 365 Standard Days

Class: Terrestrial
Atmosphere: Type I Breathable Atmosphere with Radioactive Zones

While it is completely safe to breath the air on Cir, it has still be at times advised to wear a breath mask for those beings that already have a preexisting condition that makes it difficult for said being to breath. This is due to the higher dust content in the air caused by the arid environment coupled with the dried topsoil that is being blown away. Likewise there are areas on Cir which are completely saturated in radiation, making it an absolute necessity to wear protective radiation suits while also taking preemptive medicines to prevent absorption of radiation.

Climate: Arid
Gravity: Standard

Primary Terrain:
Much of the original terrain of the world remains intact with the only loss being that of vegetation which is slowly returning to the barren world. As it was once a fortress world, the planet is dotted with many hundreds of underground bunkers and fortified cities that have become ruins in the aftermath of the plague. Most of the world is covered in badlands and hills, with a handful of mountain ranges dotting the landscape. Surprisingly the higher elevations of these mountain ranges contain hidden valleys and cave systems capable of sustaining life as they were untouched in the worlds last ditch attempt at preventing the spread of the plague, which in the end resulting in many orbital ships crashing into the surface of the world; leaving the vessels as monuments of the old world that continue to seep radiation from their fuel cells to this day. Much of the world however is covered in the ruins of the old world

Native Species: All native species went extinct during the Gulag Plague
Immigrated Species: Humans
Primary Languages: Galactic Basic Standard
Government: Formerly the Kingdom of Cir; Member of the Five Kingdoms
Population: Formerly Six Billion; Now roughly 750,000
Major Cities:
Many of the once marvelous cities now lay in ruins, twisted images of their once grand splendor. In a last ditch attempt at preventing the spread of the plague, the world was bombarded with nuclear devices in an attempt to destroy the virus. This bombardment destroyed many cities, and unknown errors on some orbiting vessels caused them to crash into the surrounding country side. The inhabitants of the world have gathered at "The Fortress" a massive citadel that once served as the capital of the Five Kingdoms. From here the inhabitants of the world attempt to piece together their former civilization.

Major Imports: Foodstuffs, Medicines, Radiation Suits and Protective Technologies, Tools and Machinery
Major Exports: Salvage, Recovered Technological blueprints, designs and Information
Affiliation: Formerly the Five Kingdoms; Currently None

Culture: The Culture of the inhabitants has been lost since the Gulag plague, with much of it waiting to be discovered in the ruins
Technology Level: Post Apocalyptic - Limited Hyperspace capabilities
History:
Cir was discovered and settled roughly between 30,000 BBY and 28,000 BBY. The named after Captain Cir who was the captain of the Sleeper ship that found the system, it served as both a fortress world and the capital of the Five Kingdoms. Serving as the name sake of the Kingdom of Cir, it lead the other colonies with the foundation of the Five Kingdoms, bringing together all inhabitants of the nebula under a single banner. At the arrival of the Gulag Plague the planet Cir was the last world to fall; due in part as its status as a fortress world. In a last ditch attempt at halting the spread of the plague, the surviving population was placed in fortified bunkers. In orbit the remnants of the Five Kingdom fleet shelled the world with nuclear arms in an attempt to obliterate the virus. Sadly crew members on board many of the ships had already been infected, causing the vessels to lose orbit and crash into the world below. Many of the bunkers were lost when they collapsed under the force of the nuclear blasts and crashing vessels. Others survived, only to become mutated by a mutated strain of the Gulag Virus created by the new radioactive world.

// The Planet Kreel \\

Name: Kreel
Region: The Dead Nebula; Unknown Regions
System: Krelling System

Suns:
The planet of Krelling orbits a Class G Main Sequence star. The Krelling system is a small system, consisting of only three worlds, with the only habitable world being Kreel. The remaining two are molten balls without a solid surface. These two small worlds are trapped in a binary orbit in which they orbit around each other while also orbiting around the sun.

Orbital Position:
Kreeling maintains an erratic orbit in which every twenty years it switches from the third orbit around its sun, into the fourth orbital position which is often the trail of a comet that has become stuck in the system due to the stars gravity. This comet likewise shares this erratic orbit in which it takes up the third orbital position when the world Kreel takes the fourth.

Moons:
Kreel has one moon. At the time of the Gulag plague it was undergoing Terraforming. In an attempt to prevent the spread of the plague to the moon, the terraforming was shut down. This has caused the world to have an erratic atmosphere in which some places on the moon are completely devoid of atmosphere while small pockets remain in other regions. It is littered with the remains of dozens of starbases and laboratories which were abandoned during the Plague, leaving behind untouched experiments and prototypes of unknown technologies.

Rotational Period: 23 Standard Local Hours
Orbital Period: 337 Standard Local Days

Class: Terrestrial
Atmosphere: Type II Breath Mask Suggested

Due to an experiment gone wrong, the world of Kreeling has become saturated in oxygen. This is caused by a mutagen which was released into the local planet populace, causing rapid growth and mutation in size. During the time of the Gulag Plague, doctors working on a way to prevent the plague began to experiment with plants in an attempt to find a means to create an atmosphere which was toxic to the virus. The result was a vast mutation of local plant life which has since taken over the world and covered it in a dense nearly impenetrable cover of foliage. Since then the world has become saturated in oxygen, making it difficult for many species even baseline humans to properly breath. It is suggested that visitors to Kreeling wear a breath mask.

Climate: Tropical
Gravity: Standard
Primary Terrain:
The Planet of Kreeling was once a world of rolling hills dotted with hundreds of thousands of lakes. It's equatorial region was the home to a small series of rainforests and jungles that sparsely dotted the region as they were broken up by large vast plains and savannahs. During the Gulag Plague, when an attempt was made on the world to prevent its spread, a mutagen was released into the jungle foliage of the world. Since then, the world has become over grown with massive trees and large ferns and brush. In some areas the foliage is so dense it is impossible to make it through. Deep within these now world spanning jungles and rainforests are the lost ruins of the civilization that had once called the world home.

Native Species: All Native species went extinct during the Gulag Plague
Immigrated Species: Humans
Primary Languages: Galactic Basic Standard
Government: Formerly the Kingdom of Kreel; Member of the Five Kingdoms
Population: Formerly Four Billion Inhabitants; now roughly 5,000
Major Cities:
During the Gulag Plague many of the cities on Kreel fell to the chaos and panic that the virus brought to the people. These cities have since been reclaimed by the over grown jungles and have been lost to time. The largest city is in the ruins of Mount Kruul which the jungles have been unable to reclaim. Here the surviving residents have established a space port and base of operations in which the salvagers strike out from in an attempt to recover the lost technologies left in the ruined cities.

Major Imports: Tools, Foodstuffs, Medicines
Major Exports: Salvaged Materials, Technological Blueprints, Designs and Information
Affiliation: Formerly the Five Kingdoms; Currently None

Culture: The culture of the inhabitants has been lost in the Gulag Plague. Many of it still waiting to be discovered once more within the overgrown ruins
Technology Level: Post-Apocalyptic-Limited Hyperspace capabilities
History:
Kreel was discovered and settled roughly between 30,000 BBY and 28,000 BBY. It was the namesake of the Kingdom of Kreel and one of the members of the Five Kingdoms. Early in its settlement; it was discovered that many of the native flora had healing properties. This drove much of the Kreel populace towards the discoveries of medicine, catapulting the world into fame as a the birth place of renowned doctors and physicians. For many, Kreel was the last hope of the Five Kingdoms when the Gulag Plague struck their worlds. It was a great loss when the world feel to a mutagen that was released into the flora of the world, causing it to be abandoned early on during the Plague.

// The Planet Tir \\

Name: Tir
Region: The Dead Nebula; Unknown Regions
System: Tir System

Suns:
Once the star Tir was a Class G Main Sequence star, however a series of scientific experiments and attempts at preventing the spread of the Gulag Virus have turned the star into a Class O Main Sequence Star. Originally the system had multiple worlds in the system each capable of sustaining life. In an ill-fated attempt at preventing the spread of the Gulag Virus, the scientists on the plant Tir tampered with the sun in an attempt to produce an ejection of radiation that would be unharmful to the worlds inhabitants, though would destroy the virus. It was too late into the process before the scientist realized their mistake when the sun Tir rapidly grew and consumed the worlds between it and the planet Tir. At that moment any further attempts were shut down.

Orbital Position:
The Planet Tir barely hangs onto a final thread as it orbits the star it shares its name with. Sitting in the third orbital position, it is dangerously close to the star Tir. In more recent years it has lost one of its original four moons as it was pulled into the star and swallowed whole. With what seems to be little time left with an orbit that is slowly degrading, the surviving inhabits of the Nebula have been attempting to recover all that they can from the planet before it and its secrets are lost to the sun.

Moons:
In the more recent years the world of Tir has lost its fourth moon. The stellar object pulled from its orbit from the gravity of the sun, it has left the planet Tir with only three moons remaining. These moons hold countless research stations and laboratories that had also been abandoned during the Gulag Plague. Within these many labs are lost technologies and secrets that could soon become lost forever. Unlike the other moons in the nebula, the moons of Tir were never terraformed, rather remaining barren and instead having vast complexes tunneled into the surface of the moons.

Rotational Period: 24 Standard Local Hours
Orbital Period: 370 Standard Local Days

Class: Terrestrial
Atmosphere: Type II Breath Mask Suggested with Radioactive Zones

While not suffering from the effects of over saturation of oxygen, it is none the less suggested that travels to the world use a breath mask. This is due in part from the effects of the suns gravitational pull becoming apparent as the worlds has begun to lose its atmosphere to space. Likewise it is also slowly becoming affected by stellar radiation, with some portions of the planet having already been hit with Cronal Mass Ejections which have scorched much of the world and left other regions radioactive. To increase survival rates, it has also been suggested that anyone traveling to the world should land on the night side of the world and leave or relocate before the sun rises.

Climate: Arid
Gravity: Below Standard
Primary Terrain:
Tir was once a bustling planet wide community that consisted of vast laboratories and universities. Anything that anyone could think of was being taught in one of the many hundreds of thousands of lecture halls. Now all that is left is a planet wide ruin that is constantly being threatened and slowly destroyed with each passing day. Many libraries are destroyed and books burned to ash as the sun lets loose Cronal ejections. Scorched ruins mark much of the world, with only a few untouched pockets being those areas hidden deep beneath ground that have been cut off due to cave ins and collapses of the upper levels.

Native Species: All native species went extinct during the Gulag Plague
Immigrated Species: Humans and Other various species
Primary Languages: Galactic Basic Standard; With many secondary languages spoken
Government: Formerly the Kingdom of Tir; Member of the Five Kingdoms
Population: Formerly Ten Billion; Currently roughly 500
Major Cities:
Much like Coruscant the planet Tir is a singular planet spanning city. In this case however it is a massive collection of laboratories and universities. Libraries and Lecture halls. All that remain however are the crumbling ruins that are day by day being destroyed with their collective knowledge also being lost. Those few hundred that remain on the world do so in an attempt at gathering, protecting and evacuating that knowledge off world before it is lost. They have created a small city in one of the old universities with a spaceport that is only open during the night.

Major Imports: Foodstuffs, Medicines, Technologies, Machinery, Protective Crates
Major Exports: Salvage, Technological Blueprints, Designs and Information
Affiliation: Formerly the Five Kingdoms; Currently None

Culture: The culture of the inhabitants has been lost to time, remaining buried and threatened within the vast ruins as they wait to be saved
Technology Level: Post Apocalyptic-Limited Hyperspace Capabilities
History:
Discovered and settled roughly between 30,000 BBY and 28,000 BBY, the planet of Tir is the namesake of the Kingdom of Tir which would become a renowned world of scholars and scientists seeking to unlock the secrets of the universe. In its time it was known among the Unknown Regions as a great center of learning, with its vast planet wide city said to be able to given even Coruscant a run for its money. Sadly much of the knowledge was destroyed when its teachers and students fell to the hands of the Gulag Plague. Its last remaining scientist attempt a radical means of destroying the virus, only to fail and place the world in terrible danger; thus creating a mad dash to save what knowledge remains on the world.

// The Planet Virsun \\

Name: Virsun
Region: The Dead Nebula; Unknown Regions
System: Virsun Systen

Suns:
The star of the Virsun system is a Class K Main Sequence star. It is the sister star to the star Virsol, which strangely enough have an unexplainable orbit. Oddly ever few hundred centuries, it appears that the star Virsun and the star Virsol orbit each other with their systems somehow shifting between the two stars. This has in the past caused worlds in the Virsol system to become locked in orbit in the Virsun system and vice-versa. Even now it has still yet to be explained as to how this occurrence happens.

Orbital Position:
Resting in the fourth orbital position, the world of Virsun has a rather standard orbit. However every few hundred centuries, the world Virsun manages to break orbit and fall into the fourth orbital position around the star Virsol. An explanation to this event, how it happens or how it is even possible has still yet to be made or discovered. This has caused many to classify the planet as a rouge planet that somehow manages to travel back and forth between the two worlds.

Moons:
The number of moons that orbit the world of Virsun is difficult at best to count. Due to its abstract movement between its own and its sister system of Virsol, the planet Virsun has been known to be host anywhere from one to thirteen moons at a time. This strange feature of the world once created havoc on the world due to its tidal shifts and pulls on Virsun. This problem has become less in the more recent years as it currently resides in the Virsun system, playing host to only one moon at this current time.

Rotational Period: 26 Standard Local Hours
Orbital Period: 400 Standard Local Days

Class: Terrestrial
Atmosphere: Type II Breath Mask Suggested

During its last shift from the Virsol system as it returned to the Virsun system, a majority of the atmosphere of the world was torn from and lost due to the push and pull of the moons it had previously hosted. This has caused many areas of the world to be lacking in oxygen, requiring the use of a breath mask, or other apparatus to support life. Some regions of the world have even been classified as Type IV, requiring the use of an Environmental suit.

Climate: Frigid
Gravity: Below Standard
Primary Terrain:
Currently gripped in an ice age, the world of Virsun is covered in glacial flows and ice sheets. Previously the world was a lush world covered in parks and gardens which housed brilliant musicians and poets. Many of these gardens and former cities now reside buried deep under glacial flows, covered in ice and nearly impossible to reach.

Native Species: All native species went extinct during the Gulag Plague
Immigrated Species: Humans and Various other species
Primary Languages: Galactic Basic Standard; with various other secondary languages
Government: Formerly Kingdom of Virsun; Member of the Five Kingdoms
Population: Formerly Seven Billion; Currently roughly 25,000
Major Cities:
While at once it was a world covered in gardens, parks, hamlets and small cottages, all of those have become buried under vast glacial formations and ice sheets. The few settlements that remain on the world are all built atop the moving glacial formations, built to shift and move with the glaciers as they move across the world. Deep beneath the ice and snow remain the remnants of the once proud achievements of the musicians and poets of Virsun. The largest settlement is an old starport built into the side of a mountain. From here the remaining inhabitants manage and organize drills and excavations in an attempt to reclaim what has been lost.

Major Imports: Foodstuffs, Medicines, Drilling Equipment, Mining Equipment, Machinery, Heaters, etc etc
Major Exports: Salvage, Priceless Musics and works of Poetry
Affiliation: Formerly the Five Kingdoms; Currently None

Culture: The culture of the world has been lost to its inhabitants, buried and trap beneath the glacial flows, waiting to be freed from their prison
Technology Level: Post Apocalyptic - Limited Hyperspace Capabilities
History:
Discovered the settled roughly between 30,000 BBY and 28,000 BBY the world of Virsun was once known as a garden of music. The namesake of the Kingdom of Virsun, it was discovered early that it shared a strange orbital path that would often cause it to shift from the Virsun System into the Virsol system and vice versa with other worlds in the Virsol system. Sadly the music and poetry stopped when it was struck by the Gulag Plague. It was the second to last world to fall to the plague, falling before Cir, as it was under a system shift at the time. Seeking to prevent the stop of the virus, the Kingdom Cir ordered it bombarded, which aided in its current ice age.

// The Kingdom of Virsol \\

Name: Virsol
Region: The Dead Nebula; Unknown Regions
System: Virsol System
Suns:
The star of the Virsol system is a Class K Main Sequence star. It is the sister star to the star Virsun, which strangely enough have an unexplainable orbit.

Resting in the second orbital position, the world of Virsol does not share the same unique rouge planet style of many of the worlds in its own system or the sister system of Virsun. Oddly, it is one of only two planets that remain in its own system. Even with it maintaining the second orbital position, it was still far enough away from the sun that it was at one point capable of sustaining life.

Moons:
Playing host to as many as four moons, Virsol had been known for its difficult to predict weather and tidal patterns. Likewise, the Kingdom of Virsol went to great lengths to terraform its moons, turning each of them into a garden world of their own. These moons were the homes of many artists and writers that created great works of art and moving plays and stories that were a cornerstone of the Nebulas culture.

Rotational Period: 30 Standard Local Hours
Orbital Period: 152 Standard Local Days

Class: Terrestrial
Atmosphere: Class IV Environmental Suit Required

Once it was a beautiful garden world covered in unspoiled scenery that moved the masses. Now it is incapable of sustaining life of any kind. The loss of its atmosphere is thought to have happened during the most recent orbital shift of the planets in the Virsun and Virsol system. This shift brought planets closer to the world Virsol than they had before, the tremendous forces of gravity playing upon it at that point seem to have ripped apart its magnetic poles and tore the atmosphere from the world.

Climate: None
Gravity: None
Primary Terrain:
In days gone by the world was covered in vast plains, sparkling oceans and beautiful villas and workshops filled with artists and writers. Now all that remains are the untouched ruins of the world that sit quietly in the ghostly calm. The land has become barren and dusty, incapable of holding any moisture or even hold itself together. Untouched buildings tower in silence on the world, with many still showing the signs of the damage caused by the plague.

Native Species: All Native species went extinct during the Gulag Plague
Immigrated Species: Humans; Various other alien species
Primary Languages: Galactic Basic Standard; Various other secondary alien languages
Government: Formerly the Kingdom of Virsol; Member of the Five Kingdoms
Population: Formerly One Million; Currently None
Major Cities:
All that remains of the world are quiet cities and workshops that have not been touched in hundreds of years. The capital remains the largest collection of cottages and hamlets, however with the world incapable of supporting life, there is no point in known which cities are major.

Major Imports: None
Major Exports: None
Affiliation: Formerly the Five Kingdoms; Currently None

Culture: The Culture of its inhabitants has been lost in time. Quietly buried and resting in the ruins of the old world.
Technology Level: None
History:
Discovered and settled roughly between 30,000 BBY and 28,000 BBY the world of Virsol quickly became known for its artist and poets; so much so that the revenue generated by their artist was enough to terraform the worlds moons into equally splendid gardens of peace and quiet. The namesake of the Kingdom of Virsol, it was discovered early on that its sister world of Virsun would often act like a rouge planet and orbit around their sun of Virsol. Sadly during the Gulag Plague this world fell to the ravages of the virus. Since then its ruins have stood silent, and in more recent times its loss of its atmosphere has made it difficult to recover the worlds vast treasures of art and writing. Instead the surviving inhabitants of the Nebula have blockaded the world and turned it into a sacred burial site where the dead may finally find rest and peace among the great works.

Notable PCs:
Currently None

Intent:
The intent of the Dead Nebula is to further the story of the Ghouls, the inhabitants of the systems described above that survived the Gulag Plague and were mutated by it. The worlds described show the cultural shift that the Ghouls are having to face. Going from once great doctors, artists, scientists and poets, to mere salvagers attempting to reclaim the lost technologies and culture that the Gulag Plague has stolen from them.

From this new cultural shift I plan to introduce the Crimson Ouroboros, a Salvager and Traders Guild that will be based in the Dead Nebula. Further more, it will serve in the capacity as the base of the mentioned above Crimson Ourobors, as they travel through the Unknown Regions salvaging the lost culture and technologies of the worlds in the region ravaged by the Gulag Plague.

All of this is intended to add to the story of the site by showing how one region of space within the Unknown Regions is dealing with the hand it has been dealt with even after the Plague has gone dormant.
