Republic Constitution

We the people of the Republic come together in the spirit of Cooperation, Democracy, and Freedom to form the Republic in order to establish Justice, ensure Tranquility of those within our influence, provide for the common defense, and pursue Galactic peace. The Government of the Republic shall be separated into two co equal branches of government the executive and legislative. Each branch is charged with acting within the common good and defending the values of the Republic. The Jedi order is an autonomous organization within the Republic, and as such may operate however it may please on Jedi related issues, however individual Jedi serving leading or serving in the armed forces are subject to government oversight.

Executive Branch- The Executive shall be led by the Chancellor. The Chancellor is head of the Government and is ultimately responsible for the policy and decisions of the government. The Chancellor is the Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces and is tasked with forming a government made up of ministers including but not limited to foreign secretary, defense secretary, and the health secretary. The Chancellor is tasked with overseeing Senate proceedings, they do not get a vote on legislation except in the event of a tie. The Chancellor must be a member of the Senate that is elected by fellow Senators by a simple majority.

Legislative Branch (temporarily suspended)- The Senate is the legislative body of the Republic it is responsible for proposing and passing laws, it also has control over allocating money. Each planet is responsible for electing one Senator to represent them in the Senate. One of the more important functions of the Senate is the power to investigate and to oversee the executive branch. Senate oversight is done in special committees that oversee different aspects of the government.

Rights- Citizens are guaranteed certain rights that the government under no circumstances can violate.
Freedom of Speech: The right to express any opinions without censorship or restraint.

Freedom of the Press: Freedom of the press or freedom of the media is the freedom of communication and expression through mediums

Freedom of Movement: Freedom of movement is the right of individuals to travel from place to place within the territory Republic territory, and to leave and return to it. The right includes not only visiting planets but changing the planet where the individual resides or works.
