Conform/Revolt: The citizens that live and work here have little love for the empire or the Emperor. Every year a few protests are staged, and occasionally violence had ensued, before being swiftly halted by Imperial Peacekeepers. There have been occasional periods of enforced curfews in the area following outbreaks of unacceptable behaviour. In backrooms of establishments, there are frequent grumblings and complaints about the level of social control enforced by the Empire.

Description: The Black Hole district is one of the less desirable places for anyone of wealth rarely comes. The district possess establishments that the normal citizen of the empire would call sinful. The buildings line up and down the main street of Trash Alley (originally called Hero's Street). Every third building on the left is a strip club or a dance club, while on the right side of the street every fourth building is a gambling centre or a bar/pub. In between these buildings sits the kiosks/stores and apartments.

History: Black Hole district was once called Hero's Paradise. Most of the inhabitants that lived here then where former soldiers or government employees who served the Emperor faithfully. Only a few people that lived here had no ties to the empire outside of paying their imperial taxes. It was a place where the less rich would come to browse and shop.

Over time, crime began to rear it's ugly head. Minor criminal organizations, disguised as well intentioned entrepreneurs began moving in - buying establishments on the verge of bankruptcy or - in some rare and extreme cases - forced owners to sell through strong-armed tactics; with Swoop-bike gangs moving into the area on the heels of the criminal organizations.. Slowly the well intention establishments began to phase out and it's place came strip clubs and gambling centres. Soon after the arrival of those places, more bars/pubs began to crop up and the stores (under new ownership) that once sold fashionable items starting selling less reputable products to those that knew where to find them.

The apartments themselves saw a change in tenants. Those that once lived here began moving out - leaving most apartments empty for some time. People who couldn't afford to live in the more highly priced places in the city or found heartache in other parts of the galaxy began filtering in. Most began taking jobs at some of the establishments to etch out a living.

Hero's Paradise's real troubles finally came to violent beginning when two government officials where mugged and killed in the streets. Imperial soldiers where sent in to cull the growing crime only to be dragged into a violent and bloody confrontation. By the request of the Emperor, Hero's Paradise fell under martial law. Despite the success of the Emperor's military, the seeds of discord were further planted into the hearts and minds of the citizens that called Hero's Paradise home.

The garrisoned troops and their commanders where recalled from Hero's Paradise, leaving the city to slip into chaos - being ran by the criminal organizations and gang members. Hero's Paradise had lost it's name and taken it's place was the Black Hole - where the citizens tell new down trodden people that move here this is the place one comes to allow the galaxy to swallow you up.

I'm seeing a very 1984 proles district feel here, which is very cool. Excellent job! However, I have a few tweaks to suggest.

The revolutionary attitude will need toning down some, particularly for a surface district. I would suggest the following edit, or something similar too it.

Weapons and contraband are too tightly controlled to be reaching imperial centre. Could you think of something less extreme that represents the feel of this district?

People either hiding from the long arm of Imperial law (dissidents) or couldn't afford to live in the more highly priced places in the city began filtering in. Most began taking jobs at some of the establishments or hiring on as thugs for the crime organizations or joining one of the swoop bike gangs.

Whilst there may be an element of lawlessness in the district, any serious organised crime would be swiftly dealt with by the Empire. Can this be toned down please?

Again whilst I like the feel of a prole district of low paid workers being mostly left to their own devices, whilst the Empire focusses its efforts of social manipulation on the more wealthy, the frequent protests need toning down. This is the very centre of the Empire and drone patrols and peacekeepers will swiftly deal with any large scale riots or protests.

Thank You. The whole time I was writing this up, the old AS movie Total Recall came to mind.

I've made the changes you suggested. Hope it's your liking.
