The Black Codex is perhaps one of the greatest pieces of gathered information that has ever existed.
Though the item itself is not a holocron and does not contain any secrets to great force powers or stunning lost artifacts, The Black Codex is instead a massive amalgam of information gathered over thousands of years by a single organization that is spread across the entirety of the galaxy. The Codex itself is teeming with knowledge. Financial records, hyperlanes, names, dates, and thousands upon thousands of other bits of information that to most might seem completely impossible. Some of this information is decades, even centuries old, while others spans back only months.
The Black Codex has been updated throughout the years, different people, factions, and organizations adding to it both technologically and information wise. The Black Codex contains an almost unknown amount of information, clearly teeming with secrets that could only be dreamed of.
Initially the Codex was used to store the collective secrets of the Star Cabal, but as the organization was dismantled and taken apart by the old Sith Imperium the Codex was instead used by various Intelligence organizations in much the same manner. Eventually the Star Cabal reformed at an unknown date and they managed to retrieve the small device. Thousands of years passed and the Codex was updated throughout, containing historical documents, financial records, secret plans, and even personal accounts from several members of the Star Cabal itself. The information within the Codex is perhaps some of the most monotonous, but also most important within the galaxy.
Ultimately it is a vast resource with nearly untold amounts of information*.
Eventually, Alric Kuhn and Danger Arceneau stumbled upon the Star Cabal when the organization stole a cache of Alpha red from a crashed Star Destroyer within the sands of Tatooine. The two business Titans worked together and began to infiltrate the group, working their way through the organization until they eventually managed to steal The Black Codex away from the Star Cabal itself. Knowing the information held within and realizing the danger that it held Danger and Alric decided to place the Black Codex in a secret place while still maintaining the tradition of updating it's central matrix through the vast resources both of them had at their disposal.
The Black Codex is currently held by Alric, with Danger being the only other person that knows its location.

*Obviously the Codex does not contain every bit of knowledge ever, however it would be pretty vast. Basically, it's IC function will be limited by OOC questions asked and development created. IE if I want the Codex to contain a secret hyperlane to Planet X, I will ask the Faction that owns Planet X if this would make sense to them then do a dev thread where said Hyperlane is discovered in the Codex.
