The Black Circle is an open-source media and software collective with a focus on the creation of instructional documents, slicing software, and anti-state and anti-corporate propaganda. It specializes in the spread of what it terms "Civilian Empowerment Techniques"; instructions for home-made blasters, fire-and-forget slicing programs, and other things with which a relatively unskilled person can reliably start causing trouble for local businesses and law enforcement. Its creations are available freely to anyone who wishes to access them; it demands no payment for what it outputs, and as such it funds itself primarily through donation and any means which its members find palatable (wire fraud, theft, etc).
RATIONALE
The Darkwire Crackdown. The completion of the Sith Blackwall. The countless Imperial Remnants, rising and falling. The depredations of the Maw. The recent history of the Galaxy has been an endless cycle of repression, violence, and uprising. In the late 890s ABY, the Black Circle - originally a handful of friends - was formed in response. Its goal is simple: create a Galaxy so hostile to power, so inimical to the concept of authority, that no Imperial, no Sith, no tin-pot planetary dictator or CorpSec boot ever feels safe again. Today, its membership numbers are murky. Anyone who wishes to may act in its name or publish works as "The Black Circle," and management of the primary Holonet distribution apparatus is regularly rotated among anywhere from twenty to sixty individuals, for security purposes.
