The Big News (Rosa)

Tython

Sitting in his office, Darron idly did a few bits of paperwork he had left sitting for too long. The morning had been uneventful save for his usual regimen of training and meditation like every other day. His hair was still damp from the shower he had just taken, and his robes clung to his still wet skin. Such was the life of the GrandMaster of the Jedi Order, just enough time to get everything done. It had been the norm for the past few months, and had only gotten worse during the Omni crisis. That threat had long passed though, and the injuries from the conflict had left his body. The damage on the worlds affected was still being repaired, but the Jedi Temple on Tython hadn't been affected in the slightest. Surprising given it's close proximity to the Galactic Core, thankfully the world was devoid of much machinery. Thus it never was on the A.I.'s radar. A rare blessing in the conflict that had already come to pass.

Finishing his final report for for the Antar mission, he filed it and sent it to Republic command. A sigh escaped his lips as he watched the report send via the holonet, and he enjoyed the silence for a few moments. Putting away the remaining papers, the Jedi Master stood up and looked out at the beautiful view before him. Usually he would either be preparing for another training session soon, or seeing a visitor. Thankfully his schedule was clear on this day, and it was his day of rest. There was only one name on the docket for the day, and it was a woman he hadn't seen in two weeks. Has it really been that long? I feel like we never have time together, but when we do see each other it seems she never leaves me. His thoughts brought her smiling face to his mind's eye, and he enjoyed thinking of her again.

Rosa.

That one word brought a smile to his face, and as he heard the doors to his office open. He turned to face her. "Well hello beautiful, I wondered when you would be joining me today."

Rosa stomach was tied in knots as she made her way to Darron's office. She had been trying for days to get time with him but duty forever found its way to prevent them from seeing each other. She could have just sent him a message, but that was hardly the way to tell him. a hundred if buts and maybe ran through her mind each one more sounding more ridiculous in her head, yet all the same she couldn't help but be worried.

Opening the door to his office she stepped inside, closing it with a click behind her. Her worries melted away at his smile and she returned it. Closing the gap between them with three quick steps she threw her arms around him and buried her face in his neck for a moment and drew in a deep breath letting it out with a sigh she drew back a little, taking his face in her hands.

"Hey you," she said softly before kissing him.

Normally when Darron felt Rosa's aura in the Force, it was one of calm. Her natural emphatic nature made her quite the soothing presence to him, and it was one of the many reasons he loved her. During his time in the Order, he had always been referred to as a storm of the Force. Yet she could calm him and his senses in a way that no other soul in the galaxy could, and it was what made them work. He found it rather hilarious, Darron Wraith, greatest living warrior of the Jedi. The GrandMaster of the Order, the one who could hold back the darkness, and she was the one who could stop him. The former politician, the empath, the one who admitted to not being much of a warrior. Armies were nothing to him, but just a few words from her could make him feel like a child. It was one of the many reasons she stood out to him, and what made her so great as a person. You truly are the most amazing woman I have ever met in my entire life...

He wrapped his arms around her and reciprocated the embrace eagerly. When she cupped his face, his azure eyes met her almond eyes and he enjoyed seeing her again. "Its been far too long my beloved." The words barely escaped his lips as she quickly pulled him into quite the intense kiss, and he didn't argue. For the all the times they had to observe decorum, this one moment of privacy was quite nice. A few moments went by as he pulled her in closer, and debated on doing other things. Yet he knew there would be time for that later, she hadn't called to talk to him just for that reason. So with great effort Darron pulled away from her but kept his arms around her waist, just to verify in his mind that she was real.

"What is on your mind beautiful? You know you never have to formally schedule a meeting with me right?" His tone was jovial with just the smallest trace of worry, he had no idea if this was a good or bad visit.

Rosa let out a sigh at his words. If only it were true that she didn't have to schedule time with him, any other couple would have struggled with the strain duty put on their relationship but Darron and Rosa were as committed to the republic as they were each other. They kept each other up in times of great stress and that was why this worked. "You and I both know that's not the case." She said softly, it wasn't a complaint, but a statement of fact "Besides which I wanted to spend time with you, not catch you between meetings."

She was stalling, trying to order her thoughts her usually calm aura was unsettled and nervous. "We've both agreed that you being frozen in carbonite gave you a second chance at life. When Omni came you believed that it would be the end, and while I have the chance to say it," she grinned "I told you so." It was always good to have a those small triumphs over him.

She shook her head slightly, her expression becoming a more serious. "You have another chance at something Darron. Something wonderful...and terrifying," she bit her lower lip, suddenly aware of her rapid heart beat and the fact she was trembling slightly.

"I'm pregnant."

"Ok, yes you were right on that one I will give you that. Guess my prophecies don't always come true."

A chuckle escaped Darron's lips at the words. He had most definitely been wrong, and it was a pleasant surprise given his usual accuracy on such matters. Though being wrong in that instance had not been a bad thing, after all he had the rest of his life with Rosa now. Well, at least until someone ends my life. He didn't dare venture down the thought trails that hinted at what he would do without Rosa in his life, she had done so much for him. Where would I be at in this very moment of my life had I not met you? It was another thought that he had often considered, and he knew he'd still be a Jedi. He might even have ascended to GrandMaster, but she had made him reconnect with the galaxy. He wasn't just serving the code, he was defending life. That was Rosa's great influence on him, she was the reason he had a stake in the defense of peace and justice now. She also was the reason he had the mental clarity to differentiate it all, and maturely handle his feelings.

She was being rather mysterious, and then she said two words that changed everything.

"I'm pregnant."

Two words, three syllables, and ten letters that completely changed his world.

A look of shock crossed his handsome features as he pulled her close to him, but his heart was exploding with happiness. He didn't say anything as he reached out with the Force and felt for the burgeoning life there in her belly. Feeling that everything was alright, he attuned his senses to the faint spirit there and put his hand on her stomach. No words left his mouth for what seemed an eternity as he thought of all the variables, and how he and Rosa would manage. Marriage and children were allowed in the Order, and the galaxy would welcome such an event. Keeping it a secret from their enemies would be difficult, and nine months was a long time. The potential this child had was great, and flashes of a future not yet written yet flashed in his minds eye.

"Thats quite possibly the best thing I have ever heard. I guess...I need to do something I've been meaning to do."

With that he dropped down to one knee, pulled out a small box and opened it to reveal a beautiful diamond ring made of platinum. With three beautiful stones set in the center, his hand shook slightly as the words escaped his lips. "Will you marry me Rosa Mazhar? I know this is out of Order, but life isn't perfect. I just know that I was ready to do this, and you beat me with better news. So can we make a life together, and a family for our unborn child?"

His silence would have utterly destroyed her had she not been able to feel his joy. She slid her hand over his as her pressed it against her stomach and she felt a lump form in her throat. She blinked hard against her own tears of joy. despite her joy she was utterly terrified. Would she be a good mother? Would they be able to keep the child safe? Could they hide it from their enemies? Could they guarantee to always be there for the child, considering the lives they led? So many fears, but the thought of holding her own child, of holding their child in her arms conquered it all.

It was close to her dream, all that was missing was a house away from the chaos.

When he dropped to one knee, Rosa clapped her hand to her mouth and let out a small sob, the tears finally escaping her eyes. She took a few dep breaths and tried speak but words failed her, so she nodded. Laughing at herself, through her tears she finally managed to speak "Yes," she said, though her voice was wrouight with emotion "Absolutely, without question. I will marry you."

"You will?"

The enthusiasm in his voice was almost child-like as he stood back up to his full height while taking the ring out of the box. His prosthetic hand moved nervously as he got the ring in his hands, and slid it over her left ring finger. Blue eyes marveled the sight of the band that signified that she would be his forever, and he felt truly complete for the first time in ages. The Order and the Force had been all he had had since he had returned, and everyone he had ever loved was gone. Never in a million years did he see himself getting a second chance at happiness, at true personal success. It was one thing to be named GrandMaster and to finally see his years of serving the Republic, all his training, and all his personal loss rewarded. To actually get the chance at the life he never thought he would have? That was simply too much for the always humble man to contemplate, but at the moment he didn't care.

Instead, he took the woman he loved and kissed her while placing a hand on her stomach to feel the life growing in there. His mechanical hand rested on the small of her back, and he simply enjoyed the moment for what it was.

"We will have much work to do to keep the child safe, but we can't make it obvious. Is there any way you would be okay with taking more peaceful missions? I can't pull you completely, the Order is stretched thin enough. I just don't want to intentionally put you in harms way, now later on in the pregnancy I will want you on Tython more often."

He didn't mean to sound demanding, he was just planning for contingencies.

Rosa looked down at the ring as Darron slid it over her finger, the tears still rolling down her cheeks. It was beautiful, but Darron could have put an plain iron band on her finger and she still would have loved him for it. For the first time in her life, everything was right. As Darron kissed her, Rosa's heart soared and she filled the room with her joy. Together they could face anything, and now they would be together until the end of their days.

She couldn't help but laugh at him as he pulled away from the kiss and began making plans to protect her and the child. She brought her hand to her face and wiped away her tears, though she was sure that more were to come. "Anything that will ease your mind, I will do Darron." she said softly "Put me on peaceful missions, people will start to ask why though, and while I would happily stand on a pedestal and scream to the world about my joy, about our child..." she paused enjoying how those two words rolled off her tongue "We should keep this as quiet as possible."
