Overview

The Avidon Oligarchy, also known as the Magrath Barony, or simply The Oligarchy, is a planetary government established by Baroness Raulyn Hawkshaw Magrath in the wake of the collapse of the Sith Empire in roughly 835 ABY.
The Avidon Oligarchy is an Oligarchical Magocracy located in the Avidon System; a region of space that is currently situated between the Galactic Republic and the Mandalorians. Originally inspired by the fall of the Sith Empire, it is meant to serve as a hidden refuge for many of the former members of the Sith Empire that were being persecuted and hunted down by the Republic, Jedi, Mandalorians and the since defunct Fel Imperium. As such it has a hidden temple titled 'The Sepulchre' which mimics and takes inspiration from many different Sith Academies and Temples throughout history.
Unique in is positioning as well as it astrographical make up, the entire system is surrounded by three dense asteroid fields with only one viable hyperspace route into the system. Internally the system is split into an inner and outer system. As the Avidon Oligarchy sees itself as welcoming refugees and peaceful, they are none the less capable of defending themselves. A large portion of their strength comes from former commands of the Sith Empire from both armed forces and naval commands which have been folded into the System Defense Fleet and System Defense Forces.
With their neighbors being a reason for the collapse of the Sith Empire, it is the Oligarchy's goal to present itself as neutral and peaceful with no religious ties to the Sith or any other Dark Side order. A secondary and much more of a long term goal is to turn the Republic and Mandalorians upon each other to allow for the Oligarchy to ensure its place as an independent stellar government in the region that it inhabits.
The recent rise of the Shadow Empire, Order of Silver Jedi and the Levantine Sanctum are of a great concern to the Oligarchy, viewing these organizations are potentially hazardous to the safety of the Oligarchy. With the emergence of the organization calling themselves "The Primeval" in the Outer Rim Territories, the Oligarchy seeks to cement itself as a regional power as a means to weather the tide of conflict that is growing.

Foreign Affairs

Positioned between the Galactic Republic and the Mandalorians; the Avidon Oligarchy views them as threats to their security and problematic in their bid to become a regional power. On the outside their Foreign Affairs are carefully orchestrated and handcrafted to prevent them from becoming a target by either the Galactic Republic or the Mandalorians. In turn, the Avidon Oligarchy is also focused on the careful manipulation of facts and evidence to turn the ancient enemies upon one another to further secure their power, while weakening their two greatest threats to allow for their own expansion.
In terms of factions whom are not an immediate threat or may pose a probable threat in the future; the Avidon Oligarchy is focused on securing alliances and guarantees from other Major Factions that would bring them into direct conflict with the Republic and Mandalorians should any aggressive or otherwise meddling actions be taken against the Avidon Oligarchy. To this end they are looking towards the Lords of the Fringe and the Confederacy of Independent Systems as a means to secure such assurances and possible aid in the event of a large scale conflict.
While not entirely accepting of a criminal element, they are entirely aware of the benefits of such endeavors. As such they are not against securing contracts and favors from the Black Sun and other criminal elements in the galaxy. Additionally as they are not entirely capable of holding their own against a superior and numerical foe as those that surround them, they would seek to create alliances and augment their own forces through the use of military contractors and other such mercenary forces as hired or made available through the Omega Protectorate.
With the growth of the Order of Silver Jedi and the Levantium Sanctum, the Oligarchy sees these organizations as potential enemies that would otherwise hinder the potential growth and expansion of the Oliarchy. In all things though, due to their currently weak state and their galactic position between two immediate potential threats, the Oligarchy maintains a wait and see stance, keeping an eye on those potential enemies whilst maintaining the careful relation between the two Super Powers that currently flank the Oligarchy.

Military

Much of the military is inspired by the organization and formation of the Imperial Armed Forces of the former Sith Empire and Palpatine's Galactic Empire. The over all command of the armed forces of the Avidon Oligarchy is held by the Office of the Minister of Defense whom serves in the capacity as the Commander-in-Chief. As such the armed forces of the Avidon Oliarchy are separated into four branches, each with its own command structure.
These armed forces are separated between the Naval Forces and the Armed Forces. The primary fleet command is that of the Naval Defense Fleet which works in cooperation with the Naval Starfighter Corps. These two commands comprise the bulk of the Naval power that the Avidon Oligarchy is capable of fielding, with many of those whom serve being former members of the naval forces of the Sith Empire.
Likewise the Armed Forces are split into two separate branches that often work together. They are the over all Armed Forces of the Avidon Oligarchy as well as its own serving Stormtrooper Corps. However unlike many other Stormtrooper Corps, those that serve the Avidon Oligarchy are not clones and are rather chosen mainly from the Armed Forces due to their skill and leadership qualities.

Fenrir Guard

An elite unit of the armed forces, its command structure is organized in a similar manner to that of the former Royal Imperial Guard of the Galactic Empire and their predecessors the Red Guard of then Supreme Chancellor Palpatine. Members are chosen at random for their merit and skills from the armed forces of the Avidon Oligarchy with similar training that the Royal Guard were known to have gone through.
Likewise their command structure is not directly linked to the Office of the Minister of Defense, with the Fenrir Guard taking orders directly from the Baroness and the Triumvirate. The exact number of the Fenrir Guard is closely guarded, while the unit also draws inspiration from the real world Persian military force named the Immortals. The exact number of the Fenrir Guard is kept secret as to make it appear that the moment one falls, there is always another waiting to take the place.
As they are charged with the protection of the Baroness and the members of the Triumvirate, they are never seen without a detachment of the Fenrir Guard.

Economy

Economically stable even during the turbulent times of the Galaxy, the Avidon Oligarchy is graced with abundant fertile lands and vast tracts of mineral wealth in multiple worlds. Much of the economical prosperity seen by the Oligarchy is due in part to a small slave labor force with a large portion of more hazardous labor being handle by droids and other specialized workers. Primarily focused on the growth and export of foodstuffs while backing their wealth through their abundant mineral supplies, the Avidon Oligarchy also manufactures and exports technology in the form of vessels, arms and armor and fine goods such as notable textiles.
Originally economically drive by their rapid growth of the textile industry and foodstuff production, their economical strength has flourished in the past few decades through the recovery of valuable minerals from the more rocky and arid worlds in the system. Coupled with the occasionally seized criminal stash or discovery of mineral rich asteroids in one of the three fields that surround the system; the Avidon Oligarchy has multiple venues to further its economical prosperity.

Magrath Industries

Growing from humble beginnings, the brainchild of a long since dead member of the Magrath family; seeking to capitalize on the production of the vast tracts of land owned and operated by the Magrath family. It began as a simple company known as Magrath Textiles; which as the name suggest, produced textile goods from the vast crops grown on the Magrath plantation and other land holdings. Over time, as the Magrath family grew more powerful and became even shrewder businessmen, the company began to grow in size.
This growth as fostered by the collection of rival family lands, though the purchase and use of betrothals that ensured all lands became the property of the Magrath Family. Entrepreneuring members of the Magrath family furthered the expansion of the company through their own ventures tied to both the family and company. The discovery of mineral wealth on the neighboring worlds and more fertile growing conditions on others; furthered the expansion of and secured the power and wealth of the Magrath Family.
During the time of the Gulag Virus, the company boomed due to the systems closed door policy; ensuring that the only operating corporation in the system was Magrath Textiles. It was during this time that it quickly absorbed smaller competitors and was reorganized into Magrath Industries, which still stands to this day. Under its new name; the Magrath family has began to further boost the strength of the company by expanding its operations throughout the Avidon system, while also eyeing neighboring systems and markets to further expansion.

Population

The primary population of the Avidon Oligarchy is split into two separate sectors. The citizens whom are often those that in someway work directly for themselves or otherwise have no ties to any other such being in the Oligarchy, and slaves. While the large majority of the citizens within the Avidon Oligarchy are in some way considered free, there is still a large structure of slave labor that ensures the continued prosperity of the Oligarchy within the Avidon system. However this base is often mislead and over exaggerated in terms of numbers. As slave labor does still exist in the Avidon Oligarchy, only roughly 10 to 15 percent of the total overall population are slaves. This means that roughly 85 to 90 percent of the population within the system are considered free people.
However in terms of economical status and in a rudimentary caste system only the upper 10 percent of the population in the Avidon Oligarchy make up the ruling aristocracy of the Parliament. Thus the Avidon Oligarchy contains a strong economically driven population that for lack of a better term, make up the middle class between the aristocracy and the slaves.
