The Auxiliary

The Auxiliary
Formed out of the necessity for additional manpower, the First Order's Auxiliary consists of humans, droids, and non-humans with an emphasis on serving the First Order. Unlike the Stormtrooper Corps, non-humanoid species are always accepted and in fact, the majority of the Auxiliary forces consist of citizens and occupants of the planets under the First Order's domain. Seen as an alternative to the Stormtrooper Corps, it allows those who might be denied service due to either anatomical differences or even criminal status. Unlike the regular army however, most gear is not provided to the soldiers of the Auxiliary, rather they supply their own armor and weapons. Hand me downs from the regular military are commonplace, stripped down weapons systems, retired military vehicles, even some starships though full sections of armor plating or hull may be missing. Doing more with less has always been a motto of the Auxiliary.
The Nature of the Auxiliary
The Auxiliary is a hard place, with little distinction when it comes to veterancy. Often times underequipped and overworked, the Auxiliary doesn't suffer the weak. An organization trained solely for war, these soldiers in some cases might have even more combat experience than components of the Stormtrooper Corps but are often treated as inferior. If there's a mission that is considered high risk or many casualties are expected, the Auxiliary is usually on call - the Stormtrooper Corps effectively using them as a distraction or a buffer. This creates quite the rivalry between the Auxiliary and the Stormtrooper Corps.
While punishments for dissent and insubordination may be severe in the regular Stormtrooper Corps, the Auxiliary is even more so. Beholden to all the same rules of engagement and codes of justice as the rest of the military, punishment for even the small infractions is severe. While appearance and grooming standards are practically out the door due to the nature of the Auxiliary, each Auxiliary soldier is required to maintain the First Order's Symbol on their shoulder pauldrons. The Auxiliary is part of the official First Order military and thus beholden to its orders and the laws governing galactic warfare. While varying species and formerly formed units are allowed to operate as a part of the Auxiliary, loyalty will always be to the First Order military over any individual sense of loyalty.
Organization
Auxiliary Commander:
The Auxiliary Commander is the direct commanding officer of the entire Auxiliary to include all units and assets. He reports directly to the Generals of the Stormtrooper Corps who in turn report to the Supreme Commander. While he sits in on councils involving the Generals, he has no official voice on matters. The Auxiliary Commander has up to 100 elite soldiers as his personal force.
General of the Auxiliary:
Generals in the Auxiliary are put in charge of the general forces of the Auxiliary broken down into three sections - Ground, Support, Space Warfare. Consisting of a limited number, they dictate the overall battlefield strategy, coordinating these aspects of the Legions such as air support, ground forces, and long range support. These Generals lead multiple Auxiliary groups (which are led by their subordinates, Captains) at a time and are given command of their own personal guard consisting of 50 elite soldiers.
Captain of the Auxiliary:
Given command of a single Auxiliary Group, A Captain is given direct command of a single Auxiliary Group. While Auxiliary units will vary in size, the standard limit of these units is no more than 400 men belonging to 4 Centuries of troops. This is typically the officer carrying out a General's commands as well as leading his troops in battle. Though still involved in combat, is typically less embedded with the men and is quartered separately, reinforcing the hierarchy of command. Each Captain is granted 20 Elite soldiers as his personal guard.
Sergeant of the Auxiliary:
Given command of an entire Century (100) of soldiers, the Sergeant is the man directly responsible for the performance and well being of the Auxiliary under him. He lives, eats, and breathes alongside his men. Not only does he fight beside his men, but he faces judgement on their behalf as well as effecting judgement upon them should disciplinary actions be required unless the Captain above him steps in.
Auxiliary:
While this title could be applied to all ranks of the Auxiliary, general members of the fighting force are referred to as "Auxiliary". These make up the bulk of the force and specialty skills are the only differential in this rank. Subservient to their Sergeants and ultimately the whims of the upper staff, these are the hardliners and the soldiers of the Auxiliary, the bulk of their equipment self provided though hand me downs from the regular army are a common sight.
Thrall:
The absolute lowest rank in the Auxiliary is that of a Thrall. Simply put, these lowly soldiers are hardly considered that and usually utilized for the dirtiest and most menial of tasks such as cleaning armor, setting up structures, and assisting Auxiliaries in their duties. Given primarily outdated and hand me down equipment at best, some not even owning a blaster weapon of their own, one can almost always be found to cater to an Auxiliary's whim.
