Name: The Astu
Biology: The Astu are a race of carbon-based life forms hailing from the deep core of the galaxy. They have very muscular bodies due to their diet of meat and and their requirement to run far distances to catch prey. Being from a desert planet they naturally have thick skin that can resist extreme heat by releasing a watery substance that acts as heat repellent. Unlike humans, who have have 7 layers of skin, this race has 14 layers for extra protection. They have smooth brown or red skin depending on the hemisphere they come from. They have have another set of teeth behind the first one to chew meat more easily. They have 3 eyes and horn clusters on their heads similar to a zabrak.
Subspecies: Astu from the north are brown in color were as Astu from the south are red.
Sentience: yes the Astu are a sentient species.
Strengths: Muscular body due to protein diet and poison spikes on their heads.
Weaknesses: Are very vulnerable to the cold because of living in the sun for along time and they can't swim because of their heavy bodies.
Diet: the Astu live off meat from desert animals but are not permitted to hunt in the multiple oases that are dotted around the planet.
Behavior/Temperament: All Astu are particularly aggressive in nature and all worship the same gods but can have very different personalities.
Communication: The Astu speak a language of their own that consists of howls and teeth clicking and much more, similar noises. It is called Asti.
Planet: The Astu hail from inside the deep core near byss. The name of the planet is Dunep.
Culture: in Astu religion the gods of their culture supposedly reside in the lush green oases that dot the planets surface. They worship gods for war, hunting, life and death. Those are the four things that the Astu believe are important. In their society women play an important role by raising the young and procreating with the warriors who fight wars and guard the cities as well as hunt for meat. Annual hunts are celebrated when the 2 nations of Astu come together and use their ships to hunt elsewhere in their solar system.
Technology: The Astu use common republic tech due to their affilation with the republic but before their first meet with the senate they were very tribal.
History: Shortly after the 400 year darkness the republic needed to colonize new worlds, one of which was Dunep . At the time the two nations of the Astu were fighting for the precious lightsaber crystals hidden under the sand in caves. The republic senate decided it was time to stop the bloody mess going on. Armed with weapons the republic intervened the affair by taking down groups of Astu by bombarding the surface. After a piece treaty between the nations with the help of the Jedi the Astu learned to use blasters and vibro weapons instead of the spears they used before. Some Astu prefer to wield bowcasters to remember the times before the republic came and colonized Dunep.
