Private The Admiralty

Annaxes War College

The time had finally come.

Months ago at the battle for N'zoth she had disobeyed a direct order from Admiral Zahara Myneto Zahara Myneto ordering her and her squadron to flee the battle in a blind search for some GA ships in a near by system. Andien Gale, proud as she was, refused and told her squadron to keep up the assault. The girls of Vanguard Squadron, though fresh, proved themselves that day, punching through crucial Yvethan defenses and allowing the GA to take the day.

At least that's how she saw it.

And so as she stood in the center of the sentencing chamber, her uniform pressed and her hair in two neat Alderaan-style buns she stood steely-eyed in defiance to the Galactic Alliance Navy.

The Admiralty stood above the accused, Pryce at the centre, tallest among the Admirals, Kaal, and Myneto flanked him on slightly lowered stands. Their identities were half-obscured by dimmed light. The light shone on the accused, positioned by herself at the room's centre.

Inaros looked away from the Officer, towards Pryce. He kept his hands hooked into each other behind his back. His fingers stung where the nails bit into their opposites' tissue.

The silence in the room seemed to last an eternity.

Pryce hated these. They pulled him away from the frontlines and often resulted in the loss of good men and women. Why couldn't they just follow the rules and not be hotshots? He had a chance to read over the defendant's dossier on his way from the Ouroboros which was still deep in Sith space as they prepared at Felucia for a continued assault. Alderaanian, experience in the Alderaaninan Security Forces, ties to noble families...She was the 'perfect' candidate to be an officer. Yet here they were. He sighed. Better to get this over with.

"Captain Andien Gale," he started. He noticed she visibly straightened when he said her name. "You have been brought to this tribunal of Admirals on charges of insubordination and endangering the lives of your pilots." He set the datapad he had been reading from onto the table, its blue glow only slightly illuminating the lines that touched his eyes and creased his face.

"Now," he said, "This is a tribunal. Which means we've already seen the battle recordings, the sensor data, etc so we know what you have done already. After Admiral Myneto gives his testimony we'll hear yours and will make a judgment. Your crimes here are serious and put hundreds of souls in danger, I hope you reflect on this as the proceedings continue."

Tribunals were things to fear.

It was undeniable within the military and, to a lesser extent, the civilian contractors who were aware of the strict rules of military life. His drummed uis fingers slightly at his podium as Pryce spoke. Not loud enough to be heard, but enough to indicate wordiness. It was a fact that she had disobeyed his orders, putting the lives of hundreds behind the battle before her.

Luckily the crew of the Hawk pulled through.

"High Admiral, on the date of the Battle against the Yeevethan Black Fleet, the crew of the corvette Hawk were stranded from the rest of the fleet during the initial jump. After receiving information regarding the Commodore, who at the time was the commander of the Hawk and a significant corvette line, I ordered Captain Gale to investigate and rescue, if possible"

"She did not" He finished.

Pryce nodded along as the brief summary was given by the young Admiral. He had been somewhere along the Braxant Run when this battle had occurred. Why did that campaign seem like so long ago? His eyes fell on Admiral Myneto and then on the Captain. The crew of the Hawk and much of the Commodore's corvette line survived whatever had happened there. He'd seen the reports in passing but much of what had actually happened on those ships was being kept very hush-hush by the SIA which did make him worry.

"Is this true, Captain Gale?" He asked. She looked at him, chin held high and defiance in her eyes.

"Yes, sir," she said. Pryce sighed and was about to move on but she kept speaking. "But if I had left we wouldn't have been able to make the push that led to the ultimate capitulation of the Black Fleet, leaving many more Alliance lives to be lost." Pryce quirked an eyebrow.

"This is a hypothetical of course," he started, "But even so you were given a direct order by an Admiral. We have procedures and-"

"With all due respect High Admiral, Admiral Myneto is a fool. I've seen his record with the High Republic and the Corellian Confederation." Pryce's eyes widened and he turned to look at the admiral.

"His gross misevaluation of the Black Fleet's numbers and his underestimation of their commanders cost many of my friends their lives that day. I wasn't going to abandon more to die when my fighters had a clear shot at making a difference!"
