Description:
Where most starship creation companies spend their time on high-end civilian products, small capital ships, starfighters and other military applications, Silk Holdings has often preferred to design ships that fit into the working-class ethos of the Outer Rim, from repair ships to exploration craft. The Tempus Ardet-class is the very first starship ever produced from scratch by Silk Holdings' shipyard facilities, the Cardan III and IV space stations which are also home to a great deal of trade and starship repair. As this vessel is a pilot project, its production quantity is not up to par with a mass-produced vessel from a major shipyard. However, Silk Holdings produces enough of these vessels that they are a fairly common site along several Outer Rim trade routes. They are capable of mating with large cargo containers and taking them in tow, as well as some specialized, massive cargo containers.

For the sake of producing a craft for the budget-conscious spacer trash, the vessel is wholly unexceptional in its construction materials and capabilities. It has enough armament to give the modification enthusiast a starting point and repel casual assaults while in convoy. Its one production oddity is a small medbay focused on kolto, rather than bacta. This allows cash-strapped spacers to easily use the somewhat weaker, considerably cheaper kolto. This could, perhaps, be explained by Silk Holdings' investments in a kolto firm on Manaan.

Perhaps due to its designers' past in the tramp freighter business, the Tempus Ardet-class has the most barely legal, easily adjusted telesponder array in civilian production. Although it would be illegal, in most civilized regions of space, to provide full false telesponder data to a customer, the Tempus Ardet-class is well adapted to changing one's identity.

Also, perhaps by coincidence, modular hull panels give the Tempus Ardet-class a number of interesting hiding spots.
