Tell that to the Kanjiklub 1.0

His people were descended of wood folks. They once lived in the woods, with no technology, hunting for food and learning magic from the gods in the forests. And now, here he was, leading his people in a age of immense advance, where not only they could cure most, if not all, diseases, but they had to rely in machines with great intelligence to help them in their daily tasks. And not only that, but in the communications as well, for now they could project themselves for others to watch.

“I am Iedolas Aldercapt Solidor, current Chairman in the Bank of the Core.”, he announced, his body being projected by the holocrab that held his image. Clear and proud. Funny for him was the fact that the machines in this new age of technology were quite the emotional pieces, with personalities and even feelings. “As said by my envoys, i would like to discuss a long term deal.”

It was very nice to, for once, be making a deal with a business executive who wasn't going to demand that he flit over to wherever in the Galaxy they were in person. Especially given the growth, tumor-like, of the Republic in the core now that they had abandoned the Rim to the Sith - leaving the disgruntled former states at the Empire's mercy. Or lack thereof. Seated comfortably in a posh chair in the floating office of the newly-opened Syngia branch of LuxArc Biomedicals, the Sith who called himself Antherion - formally, Darth Vesper - smiled at the holographic visage of the leader of this strange Protectorate.

"It's good to know," he said, sipping from a glass of clear, green liquid, "that in this age of rapidly rising and falling governments, there are still those looking for long term. It's... refreshing. As you are no doubt certain of, I'm after a loan. My hope is that it will be paid back in more than full to your bank once I have established LuxArc, my business, as a financial force within the Core proper."

"However, before we get into the specifics, given your association with a militarized body and the Core's historically republican leanings, I have to ask - can I expect any formal association between the Bank of the Core and the Republic, or will it remain neutral? I need provable, ironclad assurance I won't be sanctioned in the middle of trying to set my financials in order."

His argument made Iedolas smile, it was true, in some point of view. The governments and rulers have most fell into chaos and anarchy when the Galactic Alliance perished, the Sith were getting close, the Core had one hundred new small wanna be dark cults and the rulers were worse than the Sith. But the chaos that followed the death of GA, it was, as he hated to admit, great for business. Legal and illegal business.

“We stand here long before the Sith Empire, Galactic Alliance and these Mandalorian howlers existed, and shall do it so long after they are gone.”, they were survivors. They lived under the rule of Palpatine, and before that, roamed the galaxy in search of a home. And as he reflected on how to answer his ‘client’, Iedolas thought that he probably knew he was not just a simple banker, but the ruler of his own government, a faction with only three planets. “Let me put it this way, my lord… Republics and empires rise and fall, but money and nobles always survive. We have no business with this New Republic, we are but independent. And even if we did, this is a business, not a political stage for ideals of freedom and equality.”, if he indeed closed a deal with this man, Iedolas was more than certain they would not back down for any reason. After all, the board want it results and more clients in other areas instead of handling money from nobles and kajidics.

“So i shall give you any assurance you desire. For we have no intention on backing down and sanctioning you, and your company for whatever you do from whoever you do and, will be our greatest pleasure to have a formal association with LuxArc. After all, if do you become a financial force in the Core, you would certainly like to tell your other ‘associates’ of your dear friends in the BoC.”, his smile got a little wider in his lips after saying that, after all, it was only natural. New business always brought more new business in due time and prosperity, it would be their pleasure to become associates with such company. After all, it was not within their curriculum to have companies like that as their clients, they had contracts with three weapons company, many with nobles and rich man all over the galaxy, but nothing as ‘tasty’ as LuxArc.

“And to prove that, the BoC is more than happy to provide formal acomodations, free of charge, to install a branch of your company in Marea, one of the moons in Kaikielius.”, giving a moment of silence to his speech, Iedolas proceed with caution, “Also, i represent as ruler of a small, but rich government called the Protectorate. We are quite fascinated with your work, enough to offer a viable and lucrative solution for our arrangement.”

Though as the leader of the Protectorate spoke, Vesper's face remained impassive - yet inwardly, he was nothing but smiles. The possibility of expanding into the core as well as maintaining a presence on the Rim was nothing short of every businessman's dream. It meant having one's fingers in every Galactic commercial pot, access to all major hyperlanes - it was the first step towards economically pervading the Galaxy. The slender figure nodded for a moment.

"Very well. As soon as the arrangement is completed, the Marea branch will be constructed and opened with all due haste - I have no issue with this whatsoever. As for 'associates of mine,' well..."

Vesper's thoughts drifted to the members of his own organization, the vicious and criminal - yet corporately inclined - GenoHaradan Sith. Many of them would be eager to expand to the core as well - and easily-forgiven loans from the BoC could make the difference in profitability. He nodded at the idea of him and his allies sweeping into the core on tides of credits, infusing the war with their own commercial stamp. "...I'm already thinking of possibilities."

"Now, as for what else you mentioned, you had me at lucrative. Tell me more of this plan for the Protectorate, please."

Solidor always thought to himself that he maybe should have pursued the life as a banker. He was good at convincing people to invest, to open huge accounts, to extend credit lines, to pay their bills and those were achieved without using the Force, he hardly used it for anything besides hiding his own presence. Even not being there, did not stopped Iedolas from noticing the man was very pleased with his sweet words, after all, being in the Core and the Inner Rim was a key position for many companies to create vast fortunes.

He knew nothing or very little about this man, like he also knew little about him. For him, that was just business, he did not cared about his dreams, goals, personal glories or whatever he believed, as long as everything worked for both of them. Choosing a fair tone for his versage like words, the elzeri said with a calm smile in his lips.

“Will be our pleasure to have your lordship close to our very own heart. As for that…”, he stopped for a moment. Securing the interests and forgiving loans was something he could indeed do, since trading loans for services was much more lucrative for them in a long term. “Your marvelous company deals with a great amount of skills to forge us things we are interested in purchasing. We, in the Protectorate, are quite curious to obtain certain ‘products’ one might say, that would be highly admired in the fights, yet, to come.”

They had InGen, but they could not do everything they needed. His company however, was capable of producing such results, like his own personal ‘mad’ scientist suggested him to ‘ask’ for very specific products, and not long after that, the holocrab started to show holographic images of strange and numeric formulas to that man.

“My chief scientist, Doctor Cid has told me that you could be capable of producing us a drug that would enhance the spirit of a normal soldier to a more… ‘savage’ one. That would enhance stamina, speed and strength.”, when he stopped talking, Iedolas stood there with a big and calm smile in his lips. After all, he still has a businessman.

Nodding curtly, the Sith motioned - a hologram sprung up, a double helix being deformed by various proteins. "An old project - too old, in my opinion. I want to get more... creative. The Fortis clone modification chemical is out on the open market, it can be provided at standard rates. However, I hope to expand my bioweapon program further. The base will be useful, but in order to approach something of a greater scale, I'd need something a touch more."

He paused. "I have... an idea. A spark, percolating in me. Tell me, do you think one of your cities would run more efficiently if illness in it ended? If the life expectancy increased by, say - hm, ten percent? Twenty? I want funding for something major. An experiment. I have seen the unfathomable miracles that genetics are able to work. And I know just the perfect place for me to begin scultping."

"Give me the proper materials, enough time, and a place for experimentation, and I can give you a city where the very atmosphere is infused with bacta. I could probably derive sufficient funds from, rather than a lump sum, simply a contract of exclusivity for Protectorate medpacs and stimulants used by official state branches."

"Is this to your liking?"

That thing in front of his eyes was not human. It took him a while to figure who or what he was truly dealing with, and it was not anywhere near human, or near human, or alien, for his ideas, his morals were something that could not be seen easily, for they were nearly non existing. But what could be said about him? How different or worse was him from that thing? He was providing the means for him to do unspeakable things, only because it suited his goals, he was no less monster then this Antherion in front of him. Or perhaps he was much worse.

“I can provide you with all of that, but curiosity obligates me to ask. What will be the use of a city where the very air is deadly for any life form?”, he was indeed curious. If that meant to create a virus that could spread like the common flu and was as deadly as he was guessing, then that would be quite interesting to see and to study it. “I do not know what is the Foris Clone Modification.”, he said without any shame on that, he knew very little about those things. why would he? He was not a brilliant engineer. “It sounds appealing. As long as this does not make it to the public, and your company provides the Protectorate with the drugs and some studies we are… curious about it. Like the cloning difficulties of force users.”

That was something very secret and well hidden. For the Protectorate and InGen had been working on those for years but with no luck, a company like LuxArc had to have some more knowledge and skills for that, not like anything they had in their data banks. Cloning was the future, old technology from the past that would become more esteemed like never to become a tool where the elzeri and vahla would be able to achieve two hundred years more in their lifespan, among other things.
