Cylus Jest

Servant of the Inquisition
Intent: To provide an Artificial Intelligence that will allow for rapid slicing of nearby technology as well as to possibly provide a PC of it's own at some point.
Development Thread: Blog Post [My poor fingers...]
Manufacturer: Cylus Jest
Model: Not Applicable
Affiliation: Cylus Jest, Itself
Modularity: No, though it does learn.
Production: Unique
Material: Well, it's made of computer data so...yeah.
Description: With the world of technology and warfare constantly changing, there was a requirement for something that could adapt to hostile technology, and perhaps even control it. That was why Cylus Jest created Technovore, an artificial intelligence with the ability to slice through hostile technology within it's reach and to turn it to it's own control.

But what was a slicing machine without the ability to learn and adapt as all of the technology of the galaxy had so many times before? It needed to think, and so studies began on the human brain and how it created thoughts. Eventually this process was replicated inside of the software that made up Technovore, allowing it to create it's own thoughts as well as to recall and store new memories. It had reached full sentience. Technovore does not operate on a traditional system such as found in droids, instead his programming is made to be equal to that of neurons firing in the brain of a human.

Strengths and Abilities:
  • Slicer- Technovore holds the ability to slice into electronics that can access the Holonet simply by being in their range. He can slice through any machines under his control as well, further spreading his influence. He can slice into other machinery as well, but it requires for him to be within a very close range or to make contact with the machine.

  • Programmer- Machines or droids which are taken under control can have their programming changed and their orders moved around, this allows for him to use these machines as though they were his own. He can even use sliced electronics to further strengthen his processing power.

  • Sentience- Technovore can learn from his interactions in the same way that a biological entity can, this also means that his methods of slicing or controlling can change rapidly.

  • Backups- Technovore imprints his knowledge and programming onto controlled machines, meaning that even if his host body is destroyed, he can live on in any of them.

Weaknesses and Liabilities:
  • Away from Home- Technovore requires a vast amount of processing power to control everything he slices, he takes this processing power from previously acquired electronics. However, were he to find himself in an area without many electronics, his ability to slice would be hampered

  • Booted out- While Technovore exerts an extreme ability at slicing and though it is unlikely, given the right circumstances, Technovore himself could be forced out of access to the Holonet as well as to his own electronics, droids which are imprinted with his memory will still remain loyal however.

  • Electromagnetic Devices- While Technovore cannot be completely shut off from electromagnetic devices thanks to his neuron-firing based software, an elecromagnetic device will weaken him significantly for a few moments while he unscrambles his data.

  • Power- While Technovore does not need to eat or drink to sustain life, he does need power of some sort to remain active. Without power he will slip into a 'Sleep' mode.

  • Just to be clear, this AI is only capable of slicing into electronics that it is either in direct contact with or has access to via the HoloNet?
  • As with PC slicers, please keep in mind that this is not an immediate task. You must give opponents opportunity to prevent and/or reverse the breach or control.
  • What happens to the AI when everything he is drawing power from (Logically electronic) is hit by EMP and is thus destroyed/deactivated?

1. Yes, that is correct.
2.Of course
3. He would experience similar side effects as the first weakness. If you mean what happend if he has no powercell, look to the last weakness.
