Tazi Heavy Plasma Rifle Mk I

Intent: To provide the Hutt Cartel (and affiliated organizations) with a powerful weapon designed to take out armor enemies and vehicles.

Development Thread: If needed.

Manufacturer: Tazi's Machines.

Model: High Power Plasma Rifle.

Affiliation: Hutt Cartel and organizations that are under it.

Modularity: Can be mounted on a tripod or equipped onto battlesuit (still to be made).

Production: Limited until company is expanded.

Material: Durasteel, blaster components, conductive material.

Classification: Particle accelerator.

Size: Large, mounted.

Length: 1 meters.

Weight: 15kg.

Ammunition Type:
  • Silicon-steel ferrite slug.
  • Power cartridge is needed to ensure a constant level of power to the rifle.
Ammunition Capacity:
  • Drum magazine for silicon-steel ferrite slug hold 72 shots.
  • Power cartridge can only supply power for 12 shots.
Effective Range: Up to 30 meters.

Rate Of Fire: 1 shot per 4 seconds.

Special Features: Super heated shot can melt through most metals.

Description: The Heavy Plasma Rifle is largely based off the Plasma Rifle created by Tazi's Machines. The weapon is designed by Tazi's Machines. It was produced to give soldiers a tripod mounted able weapon that could be used for defensive purposes and for in battlefield combat.

Because of the heat of the weapon, the barrel must be changed along with the power cartridge ever 12 shots.

The Heavy Plasma Rifle works by electromagnetically accelerating a plasma shell down its barrel. In effect, it is a miniature mass accelerator.

The Heavy Plasma Rifle delivers pulses of searing energy and superheated matter that has been transmuted into a gaseous plasma state that carries and electrical charge.

The solenoid is then charged fully, propelling the newly produced plasma out of the gun at an extreme velocity while keeping it cohesive. Though this electromagnetic field continues to keep the plasma together until impact, residual plasma is expelled from the barrel to produce the weapon's considerable muzzle flash.

For now the weapon is used on a tripod. But when Tazi's Machines eventually create battlesuits, they plan to make this one of the main weapons for the suits.

You state that the weapon has a long range, yet the effective range is 60 meters, which is just over that of a standard blaster pistol.

Is the intent behind the use of plasma and an electromagnetic field to mimic the capabilities of a lightsaber?

I need you to be aware that the containment of plasma is not going to grant you the same cutting power of a lightsaber, and I need to see an outline of how this is expected to react to various materials that are commonly considered lightsaber resistant, i.e; cortosis, ultrachrome, phrik, beskar, etc.

I will then need to see a minimum of 50 posts of development to retain this sort of power, which has a vast advantage over all other blaster weapons out there, as well as various further changes that will be highlighted below.

  • 50 posts of development towards this weapon as the main focus of the thread.
  • Explicitly describe how powerful this weapon is, give a rough estimate of how capable this is of making its way through a 10 cm plate of durasteel for example.
  • Describe its expected effects when the plasma round impacts lightsaber resistant materials in a bullet-list format of each one (for reference see Restricted & Banned Items List).
  • Range reduced to 30 or below meters, or personal if you'd prefer a slightly more vague definition here. Remove long-range advantage, a containment field for a lightsaber-like bolt of plasma isn't going to make it that far.
  • Make use of a Diatium containment field as seen in use by canon lightsabers, or otherwise include 10 more posts of development to go without diatium circuits.
