Private Tatooine Nights

Jonyna had been all over the place lately. Her last visit to Ryloth done, she needed to head back to Daxam to prep for the next attack.

That of course, didn't stop her from picking up supplies.

Tatooine was a planet Jonyna didn't see much value in. She'd been there plenty, the dumb rock seemed to be a magnet for people like her. What should be an insignificant desert chithole, somehow had weaseled it's way into becoming one of the most historically significant planets in the galaxy.

All because of a slave, and his farmboy son.

Walking around Mos Eisley, Jonyna needed food. That's why she was here. At least with the High Republic around, the jedi could rest easy not worrying about some punk bounty hunter jumping her here.

But who would she meet here?

Who knows.

The twin suns beamed down upon the sand dunes of Tatooine, producing sweltering heat that would cause anyone distress while being out in it for far too long. As for Cera, she was in the process of receiving their first free meal of the day at Chalmun’s Spaceport Cantina. Live music was being played around the bar, men and women alike having conversations and drinking all the while having a good time. The most distracted were the easiest to steal from and Cera knew exactly how to get what she wanted, it was always about being patient in the end.

Cera was sitting at the bar with their eyes on the holoscreen in the corner that displayed news around the planet. It wasn’t much because of the planet’s harsh conditions, but there was more going on than met the eyes, that’s for sure and Cera had a feeling the news wouldn’t always tell the truth, especially when it came to the pirates that would do horrible things that the reporters were not allowed to exploit. Regardless of the news that was being spread, this was the perfect time for Cera to get what she came for.

Sitting beside the young female was a human male that had his eyes set on some older woman across the bar. It was as if both were flirting with one another with their eyes. It was disgusting, to say the least, and Cera was hoping for the perfect opportunity to snatch the half-eaten meal next to her. Whatever was on the plate had Cera nearly drooling onto the bar area in which she sat quietly, waiting for the man or woman to approach the other.

Within a few short seconds, the male stood from the table and began to walk away. Before he could fully step away, Cera snagged the plate, hopped off the stool, and walked off towards a booth to eat in peace, while hopefully not getting caught in the process of it all. It was risky and Cera knew what she could lose if caught, but it was a risk the young woman had gone through several times in the past without anyone noticing.

Cantinas like this were an old habitual hang out of rebels. Especially ones like her. Back in her prime, she would've been one of the dancers up on stage. Now, she was just looking for a drink.

Then again, hungry folks were a weakness of her. Whoever the girl was in front of her, was starving.

Sitting down next to her, Jonyna couldn't help but offer a kind smile. "You need some more food, kid? I got more credits than you can probably imagine."

Normally, it wasn't wise to advertise how many credits you were rocking around with. Even in the High Republic. But for Jonyna? It was a call for anyone to dare try.

Cera was tucked away in a booth, enjoying the last bits of the Umbaran Cheese Roll that was left unattended to by one of the customers at the bar. It’s not her fault that the man decided some time with a woman was more important than the meal he bought. Now, it was Cera’s to devour and she did just that. Picking away at the bread and pushing in their mouth, as if they had not eaten anything in days.

Just when Cera thought she was in the clear, a female Cathar appeared out of nowhere, sitting in the same booth as her. Under the table, Cera managed to grab her blade free from the hidden spot in their boot. At this time, she didn’t attack because this female had a presence about them that was different from any of those she was around before.

When the Cathar spoke, revealing things that more than likely should have been kept quiet, Cera let a grin grow on their face. She was now thinking about credits instead of food, almost as if she were being lured in by the ever so nice stranger. "I’m no kid." She spoke quietly, almost as if she were whispering.

Cera quit poking at the bread and looked directly into the eyes of the Cathar, smiling warmly in the process. "Do you always barge in when people are eatin’ alone, or did you want somethin’?" Her gaze was now serious, expression lifeless, but Cera wanted answers before the conversation would even continue further.

"Occasionally. When I see someone with talents, yeah. I do." Jonyna whispered in turn. "I lead a rebellion. I could use people like you. You wanna eat? I got plenty of food, if you'll listen to me."

Jonyna wasn't trying to beat around the bush. She didn't feel unsafe here, after all. The High Republic wasn't home to her, but it was sanctuary. She knew that much.

Cera Del Vexius was rather amazed at how straight forward this Cathar was, but when it came to free food, Cera was likely not going to decline, especially with how hungry she was. With a nod, the young girl picked at the food once more, putting a piece into their mouth. Whoever this person was, it would take more than food to gain their trust. It was a start, though.

When Cera finished swallowing the food, she glanced up at the female Cathar with a slight grin. "Well, I am listening.." She said firmly, pulling another piece of food to their mouth. It wasn’t every day that she was approached from someone within the Rebellion, so maybe it was best that she continued to listen to what was being offered.

"Here's how I see it." Jonyna said, shifting herself to sit a bit more forward. "The Rebellion needs people with talents. You got talents, yeah? I can sense it. You've got powers hidden in you that I could help you hone. Learn to channel your power, and do some good. I'm not the only one who's gonna be trying to pick you off the street, yeah? The High Republic would probably rather hide you away in a temple. I've lived that life. I've played that game. No, you wanna do good. You wanna be out there, trust me. Temple is nice and cushy, but it's soul crushing in the end. And Sylvar forbid the sith find you. They'll just turn you into a weapon. Torture you until you fit their perfect mold of an assassin."

Jonyna pulled out a few credits, sliding them across the table. "Or you could come with me. Be a rebel, earn your place in the galaxy. Make a few credits, save planets, free people. That's my deal."
