- Fast: The Tantive IV is fast enough to outrun most anything it cannot outshoot--and even out run some of the things it can out shoot. Its ability to get in and out of tight spots with such speed and agility has earned it the nickname "Rebel Blocakde Runner" in the past.
- Luxurious: The Tantive IV served the noble Organa family in its distant past, it has some really great suites and has spared no expense with the luxury suite's customizations.
- Fighters: The Tantive IV has a great targeting system, it can go toe-to-toe with fighters and knock them out of the sky. The tubrolasers on board have been designed to target squadrons and provide a great defense against fighter and bomber swarm attacks.
- Low armament: The Tantive IVs guns were designed with defense in mind, not attacking. Its a consular ship by design, and a classic one at that. So the guns are pretty great against fighters or anything that could catch it, but not as great against ships of its own class and higher.
- No missiles: The Tantive IV has no missiles or proton torpedoes or anything like that. Most ships of its size have at least one launch tube for these.
Description:
The Tantive IV was by far one of the most iconic ships and most influential ships in the history of the galaxy. From Clone Wars to the Rebellion against the empire, this corvette has served the light side of the Force and do-gooders since its creation. And the do-gooders it served the most was the Organa family. While the Tantive IV was originally a stock CR90 Corvette, it has undergone extensive upgrades and customizations through its existence to make it best serve its owners.
The Tantive IV is in great shape, despite its age. After the Gap following the Galactic Civil War, it really fell out of hands, there aren’t a lot of records for what happened to this ship during this time, it just sort of meandered from hand to hand for a while with whoever was the most important person who could buy or steal it away from the other. There’s nothing substantial known until about 20 years ago. A crime boss working out of First Order Space stumbled upon it quite by accident. One of his debtors owed him everything and would have died. In exchange for his life, this debtor offered the Tantive IV, oblivious to its real ability and worth in the galaxy. Of course the crime lord killed him anyway and took the ship all the same, but that was where it first resurfaced for sure. It became his pet project and the man spent millions refurbishing it to mint condition. He spared no expense, from the carpets to the white plasteel siding, this crime lord restored it all. From there, he updated the engines, hyperdrive, navicomputers and so on to modern, reliable components that would still tastefully match the décor.
The resulting work, really is stunning. From the formal state conference room to the stateroom suite the place is completely opulent. The greatest pleasures have been outfitted with comfort-designed chairs, high-tech kitchens, plush beds, and so on. The sky really is the limit, for up to 39 passengers. Usually these people consist of high-importance individuals like diplomats and their assistants or bodyguards. As much as possible, maintenance has been regulated to droids, but still the ship has a skeleton crew of 5 and an optimum crew of 46.
All in all, its just an iconic, well-preserved part of the galaxy’s history.
