DESCRIPTION

Newly invigorated with the assistance from their Imperial overseers in the shadows; Taim & Bak has begun to continue production of its famous KX laser and XX turbolaser series, as well as expanding into the fields of weaponry for individuals and by extension, armies. Needing a way to turn their designs into reality, the company has turned to buying out the foundries and shipyards of other corporations, using them to create products or renting them out at a higher price for more profit on their part.

Expanding their operations from the planet of Nal Hutta and its moon of Nar Shaddaa, a sub-division of Taim & Bak was founded in the Makeb system with the intent on testing the applications of the notorious Isotope-5 on the firepower output of their turbolasers, with good results far and few between, the researchers located there acknowledging that a durable and effective Isotope-5-enhanced turbolaser will most likely not be possible in the near future.

Surprisingly, for a company attempting to claw its way back to the top by any means necessary (and also technically owned by the Galactic Empire), they are surprisingly benevolent when it comes to acquiring their resources. For example, when several mines ran dry on Nal Hutta and Makeb, T&B had gone through the arduous process of making sure that they are properly shut-down and not simply abandoned for someone to just wander in and get themselves killed. Though, this does not affect its demeanor towards dealing with others like itself; repeatedly engaging in corporate espionage, sabotage, and assassination.

RATIONALE

While the Imperial Grand Moff was off fighting against the Dominion and the Silver Jedi Order in the Outer Rim; Director [member="Travis Caalgen"] was sent to the Smuggler's Moon of Nar Shaddaa to seek out the remnants of a company more ancient than the first Galactic Empire. After the onset of the Gulag Plague around 426 ABY, Taim & Bak was thrown off of its pedestal as a galaxy-spanning weapons manufacturer along with many other corporations, but four centuries later it has still yet to rebuild its industry and reputation.

Director Caalgen used not the intimidating military might of the Empire to force them into submission, but his clever political charisma and the promise that Taim & Bak would once again rise to become an arms manufacturer that could rival even ArmaTech or Iron Crown. T&B's Board of Directors agreed after compromises by both the corporation and the Empire itself, installing Caalgen as the secret executive chairman in order for him manipulate the company without outsiders knowing of any Imperial entanglements.

This political maneuver served two primary purposes: The first and foremost being the fact that it gave the Imperial Starfleet access to the improved weaponry and targeting systems that T&B had been perfecting over time, a large boon to come across in the tense conflicts that the Empire had found itself engrossed in. The second being that, following the release of the Privateer Act, it allowed the Empire to use the company as a front for meeting the various criminal elements of Nar Shaddaa and for making 'philanthropic donations' (in reality these were payments for the service that gangs of mercenaries and pirates provided) to 'charities' without arousing the suspicions of nearby powers.
