Character
Name: Cataera Riannoth, ‘Taera’
Aliases: Baronness Calypso Atria, Five
Age: Mid-twenties
Species: Firrerreo
Gender: Female
Height: 5’10” (1.8m)
Weight: 156 lbs (70.7kg)
Force Sensitive: Yes
Physical Description:
Like all Firrereons, Taera has gold skin, pronounced canines, and two-toned hair of brown and copper. Nictating membranes protect deep green eyes. She is both comfortable in aristocratic regalia and dresses, and the more practical style of military dress but can often be found in a black longsleeve shirt, fitted military trousers, and knee high boots.
Personality:
Born into struggle and married into nobility, Taera possesses an edge that many other noblewomen lack. Her Firrerreo features play up the danger in her presence, and even in formal attire, she looks predatory. She is disciplined to the point of seeming distant and cold but can be charming in her own way when necessary. Many of her edges soften around children, leading to rumors about potential future heirs.
Strengths:
- Firrerreo eyes - Can see into the ultraviolet spectrum. Nictating membranes protect the eyes against flashes of light and debris.
- Firrerreo strength - Firrerreo also possessed a deceptive strength, with even a weak and starved Firrerreo capable of surprising force.
- Firrerreo healing - Tremendous ability to heal quickly, able to survive even a direct blaster shot if the damage didn't harm anything vital to the heart or brain. Most minor wounds take minutes to heal, while major ones take mere hours - with the healing factor being rapid enough that the naked eye could watch a wound close.
- Soldier - Having served in the Aurodium Guard for a few years, Taera possesses the skills and bearing of a veteran.
Weaknesses:
- Distant - Taera is not one to make many or close friends. With the death of her late husband, this leaves her isolated and without many trusted allies.
- Commoner - In spite of learning how to move in aristocratic circles, Taera’s common birth is a mark against her among the Ten Families of Epica and she doesn't know all of the etiquette for every situation.
- Firrerreo skin - Like all Firrerreo, her skin changes to silver whenever she is angry or afraid, thus leaving her unable to hide her emotions when they become volatile. Any scarring will also show up as silver.
History:
Cattaera Riannoth was not born into nobility and never knew privilege. Growing up in slavery taught her how to say the right words while beatings taught her vigilence and endurance. At seventeen, she fell into the hands of a Sith lord, Darth Liale. The Sith, having no use for a slave, named her the fifth apprentice, competition and challenge to her fourth apprentice. Liale’s methods taught cold logic and pragmatism, cruelty born of necessity. For three years, the contest between apprentices lasted, until their ship encountered Epica’s forces in orbit. Taera, having had a Vision the night before, entered and ejected the escape pod without her master or fellow apprentice. The ship’s explosion was brilliant even from the pod’s tiny viewport.
Taera’s pod was found in the Epican countryside by a hunting party of nobles, lords and ladies alike. Lord Faustus Atria, the young heir-apparent of Atria Engineering Inc., seemed taken by her gold skin and fiery bronze two-toned hair. He laid on the charm very thick—too thick, as Taera rebuffed him and his charity, preferring to forge her own path debt free. She enlisted in the Atria’s personal defense force, the Aurodium Guard. Here, her service smoothed her rough edges, transforming her into someone dedicated, disciplined, and ruthless. And it was here that she met Atria’s second son, Lancel Atria, serving first as a sergeant under him then later as his staff sergeant. Through their growing friendship, Taera got to better know Faustus, and eventually accepted his proposal of marriage. A name was needed from her but following Firrerreo traditions, she did not give up her birth name, naming herself ‘Calypso’ instead.
A quick learner, she managed the upper echelons with the same efficiency she did her squadron in the Guard. Lord Faustus found a formidable ally in his new bride as Calypso stepped into this new arena, championing his agenda and the uplifting of the little people under him. And in Faustus, Calypso found the chance for a new life, free from strings and struggle, a sanctuary from the darkness in the galaxy.
It is unfortunate then, that Calypso now finds herself widowed, a sudden malady claiming the life of her husband. The other Families smell opportunity and her only other ally is betrothed to an offworld princess.
