DESCRIPTION

While the TA1 and TA2 Droids are vastly more intelligent than other battle droids, it always pays to have a dedicated droid be able to command them. Enter the TA3, the third installment of the Talos Series. The TA3 is not speed nor brawn, but brains. Designed to be the premier armchair general or field commander, the TA3’s J2 Droid Brain comes chock-full of the latest and greatest in tactical programming.

The TA3 is armored just as heavily as the TA1. It is fairly resistant to most light blasters and can withstand a few shots from medium ones, but is ultimately just as vulnerable to destruction. Being that they are tactical droids, TA3s prefer to use blaster pistols and other sidearms if they come under direct attack or are serving as a field commander. It benefits from the K-65 targeting system, making it a very apt shot, but since its primary focus in programming is tactics, its armaments are limited. Customers should not expect it to outperform the TA1 or the TA2 in anything but strategy.

The TA3’s most useful capacity is that of a stand-in general, commander, chief of security, field commander, and so on. The droid is programmed with a special suite of tactical programming that presently outperforms most other standard tactical droids on the market. Given command over an adequate force, be it naval or planetary, the TA3 can derive victory from most engagements. This is not a sign of merit or of colossal skill, as should be noted. This is instead a sign of adequacy and competence. Still, no matter the circumstance, the TA3 will make do with what it has to the best of its ability. Unlike organic officers, TA3s are guaranteed to at least be somewhat competent in their field. If you were expecting a tactical genius in this droid, you are sadly mistaken. However, like organics, incredible tactical skill can come through experience- but that would mean neglecting to memory wipe the droid frequently, and this has risks.

Due to its colossal intelligence and increased capacity for free-thinking, the TA3 is more inclined to develop quirks and personality traits than other droids. Customers should be wary when allowing their TA3 to go prolonged periods of time without a memory wipe. TA3s have a noted, studied tendency to become increasingly ambitious and desire to move up in ranks regardless of whether or not this is possible for them. This is the only known unifying trait of TA3s that achieve self-awareness, as others tend to be products of their environment, subordinates, and superiors. With care, a TA3 can be molded into your ideal commander. Treated recklessly, it could become your worst nightmare and most ill-tempered subordinate.

Hegemonic Automaton is not responsible for the actions of TA3s that achieve self-awareness.
