DESCRIPTION

The TA2 Super Battle Droid is the next step in the Talos series. The TA2 is the exact opposite of its predecessor, trading the agility and grace of the TA1 for cumbersome armor. This hulking, brutish droid places a great deal of emphasis on raw firepower, making it an adept support droid. Despite what one would expect from such a large droid, the TA2 is actually quite intelligent- thanks to the J2 Droid Brain.

Thanks to being covered in thick, dura-armor plates specifically designed for the task, the TA2 can withstand multiple shots from most standard-issue blaster rifles. The largest of these plates are covered in a layer of molytex, offering even more protection against laser based weaponry. When this is taken account along with the thickness of the plates, it should come as no surprise that the TA2 is incredibly resistant to most forms of conventional small-arms fire. But not entirely invulnerable, of course. Concentrated blaster fire from sufficiently strong blaster cannons or medium grade explosives can easily spell doom for the TA2. Two other notable attachments include a shield projector mounted on the TA2’s right forearm, giving it a portable but energy-based riot shield, and an Ionization buffer to protect it from Ionic and EMP based attacks.

The TA2’s primary armament is a high-powered rotary cannon. This cannon has two settings: single-shot and fully automatic. The single shot setting is best directed towards enemy vehicles and is more than capable of damaging unshielded light and medium armored walkers and repulsorcraft. The fully automatic setting is best for crowd control and suppressing fire. The grenade launchers are modular, able to utilize multiple types of grenades.

Finally, the droid comes equipped with several pieces of miscellaneous equipment to ensure it can respond to any number of hostiles attempting any number of tactics. A built in scanner and sensorscope allows it to maintain vigilance against a variety of threats. An advanced Gyroscope system allows the droid better balance, mobility, and strength.

The Talos Series of droids are also the only battle droids presently on the market capable of benefiting fully from Neuro-Saav's K65 targeting system. The K65 was designed solely to be used in conjunction with the J2 Droid Brain. This system, implemented in the TA2, represents the pinnacle of droid targeting. Talos Series Droids will rarely, if ever, miss anything they take aim at. Further, Talos Series are the only combat droids in the galaxy equipped with Neuro-Saav's NeuroCoat 'Everlast.' This nanobot coating over internal components allows the droid to go far longer without regular, painstaking maintenance than other droids. Talos Series Droids will still require the occasional upkeep, of course, but not as often as competing models.

Due to the heightened intelligence offered by the J2 droid brain, TA2s have a similar problem to their counterparts. It is speculated that TA2s will develop personality quirks and traits if a memory-wipe is not administered regularly. Due to the inherent risks of a self-aware, self-motivated TA2, few tests have been conducted. What tests have been completed show that TA2s begin to develop elitist and snobbish tendencies. They will refuse to speak in anything but binary (finding it demeaning to do so). The source of this elitism comes from size and strength, and so TA2s developing sapience will only show open respect for things that match them in those regards. After battles, sapient TA2s will often recite long-winded and thoroughly pretentious war poetry. They also tend to form fraternities and clubs among themselves. These TA2 societies are not given names, but unique equations that only a droid could possibly hope to process. The pretentiousness of TA2s is not even tolerable among themselves, as bitter feuds often break out between their clubs. Usually over something trivial.

Customers utilizing TA2s are strongly advised to perform routine memory-wipes, especially in the aftermath of large scale battles, where the TA2 is running at peak capacity.

Hegemonic Automaton is not responsible for the actions of TA2s that achieve self-awareness.

Taking into account these droids thick plating and impressive armaments, and the fact they have an ionzation buffer protecting them as well, I'm going to have to ask you take one of two options.

Without Dev Thread
  • Drop the production to field a much smaller number and ionization buffer
or
  • Remove the grenade launchers and ionization buffer
Or

With a Dev Thread
  • write a dev thread that details the designing and need for these machines as they are. Taking into account the shield unit, grenade launchers, and ionization buffer as they are all very useful and powerful tools for a droid to utilize for a mass produced infantry unit. For this I'd prefer at least 20 posts for all the features.
