DESCRIPTION

The TA1 Battle Droid is the first droid in the Talos-series. Designed in the likeness of Ord Cestus’ X’ting population, the TA1 focuses on speed and agility in its combat routines to outmaneuver and overwhelm enemy forces. The J2 Droid Brain gives the TA1 a higher sense of awareness and intelligence, making it all the more lethal.

TA1s are lightly, but effectively, armored. The droids are covered in Dura-Armor plates that offer moderate protection over the typical durasteel endoskeleton. Further, these Dura-Armor plates are further supplemented by a covering of Molytex, offering them an even greater degree of protection from most light blasters and some medium ones. This style of armor is not found in any other droid. This doesn't make the TA1 invulnerable, of course. The TA1 is still susceptible to many forms of destruction, yet is considerably more protected than other mass-produced battle droids. In order to cover up the glaring weakness to Ion weapons experienced by other models of battle droids, the TA1 comes equipped with an Ionization buffer, allowing it protection from Ion weapons and EMPs.

The TA1 is not built in with any weapons, save for a hand-to-hand combat protocol in the event it loses its weapon. As per the popularity of BlasTech and Santhe weapons, TA1s always come pre-programmed for proficiency with all current BlasTech and Santhe weapons. Updates to these programs when new weapons are released by either of those companies are made available frequently. Further, any number of TA1s can be programmed (on a per-order basis, of course) to utilize weapon series not manufactured by the above corporations for a paltry fee.

Finally, the droid comes equipped with several pieces of miscellaneous equipment to ensure it can respond to any number of hostiles attempting any number of tactics. A built in scanner and sensorscope allows it to maintain vigilance against a variety of threats. An advanced Gyroscope system allows the droid better balance and mobility. The droid also possesses an advanced targeting system to allow it better odds against hitting enemy forces. Finally, the legs of the TA1 were designed to facilitate greater sprinting speed and jumping power, making it a very agile, crafty combatant.

The Talos Series of droids are also the only battle droids presently on the market capable of benefiting fully from Neuro-Saav's K65 targeting system. The K65 was designed solely to be used in conjunction with the J2 Droid Brain. This system, implemented in the TA1, represents the pinnacle of droid targeting. Talos Series Droids will rarely, if ever, miss anything they take aim at. Further, Talos Series are the only combat droids in the galaxy equipped with Neuro-Saav's NeuroCoat 'Everlast.' This nanobot coating over internal components allows the droid to go far longer without regular, painstaking maintenance than other droids. Talos Series Droids will still require the occasional upkeep, of course, but not as often as competing models.

Due to the heightened intelligence offered by the J2 droid brain, TA1s have a predicted tendency to develop personality quirks if they go for prolonged periods of time without a memory wipe. Due to the inherent risks of a self-aware, self-motivated TA1, few tests have been conducted to predict the behavior patterns of self-aware TA1s. TA1s that achieve sapience generally become increasingly patriotic towards the organization that owns them. It should be noted that these TA1s soon only respect the organization in its current state. If a government were to reorganize or a new leader come to power, they will be hostile to the change and spend inordinate amounts of time longing for "the good old days" and planning violent military coups. It is not known at this time if TA1s will or are capable of executing any of these coups. Please use caution.

Customers utilizing TA1s are strongly advised to perform routine memory-wipes, especially in the aftermath of large scale battles that last over several days, where the TA1 is running at peak capacity.

Hegemonic Automaton is not responsible for the actions of TA1s that achieve self-awareness.
