SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Adaptable - These droids learn fast. Since their sole purpose is providing long range fire support, they refine their targeting algorithms with every single shot they make, improving their accuracy gradually. Also, they're pretty smart.
  • Self-Propelled Artillery - They're mobile fire support platforms. Hailing ancestry to the J-1 Proton cannon, they can be used to provide anti-air support as well as taking on heavier enemies.
Strengths:
  • [+] Adaptable: These droids learn fast. Since their sole purpose is providing long range fire support, they refine their targeting algorithms with every single shot they make, improving their accuracy gradually. Also, they're pretty smart.
  • [+] Self-Propelled Artillery: They're mobile fire support platforms. Hailing ancestry to the J-1 Proton cannon, they can be used to provide anti-air support as well as taking on heavier enemies. It's also able to traverse difficult terrain where tracked vehicles cannot.
  • [+] Secure Cyber: The Aegis SH13LD anti-malware software helps prevent malicious or external code from overwriting the droid's core functions. As for the VPN, that allows the droid to maintain very secure communications with its primary uplink.
Weaknesses:
  • [-] Ammunition: While these platforms can hold a moderate amount of ammunition, their high firing rate means they need to be reloaded often. Normally, droid personnel will load this thing, but its rather time consuming and that can spell disaster in the middle of combat.
  • [-] Ion/EMP: Inherent droid weaknesses. Ionic and EMP weaponry will almost instantly short circuit this bad boy.
  • [-] DOS: It's possible for opposing forces to jam communications in a Denial of Service attack to prevent communications.
  • [-] Definitions: While there's an option to actually download the signature-based detection engine, the SH13LD loses an immense part of its detection and removal functions. Without a HoloNet uplink to utilize the heuristic-based engine and updated signatures, the host system becomes susceptible to more zero day threats.
DESCRIPTION

Yet another addition to Aegis Systems security hardware inventory. Bearing ancestry to the old J-1 Proton Cannon fielded by the Confederacy of Independent Systems, Aegis Systems intends to take this militant market through lethal force and firepower.

Bearing a walker-like chassis, the Stryder-class Autonomous Proton Cannon bears resemblance to the olden Separatist dwarf spider walkers. The primary feature of its entire frame is the large proton cannon fitted to a durasteel frame overlapped with dura-armor plating. Wide barreled and elongated enough to provide ample range for this mobile artillery piece.

The proton cannon itself, bearing true faith to its original rendition, is capable of punching an LAAT/i out of the sky with a single shell. The Stryder-class's cannon can be vertically inclined to provide anti-aircraft support as well as knocking out enemy armor elements in droves. Aside from its primary weapon, it sports a pair of anti-personnel blaster cannons to stave off incoming infantry.

Additional components include the ever-present heuristic processor. This perfect little contraption allows the Stryder-class to learn on the go, refining its targeting algorithms as the battle goes on. An advanced targeting computer has also been installed to increase accuracy by 300%. In addition, there's a sensor package to allow the platform to remain vigilant against many threats, and also possesses the usual anti-malicious logic software and virtual private network.

While this mobile artillery platform is capable of all of that, there are some drawbacks. While it does possess a decent sized magazine of ammunition, it runs out of shells very quickly. The Stryder-class must have supporting infantry nearby to load more shells into it, which takes a decent amount of time before it can rejoin the action. Another fatal flaw is its inherent weaknesses to ionic and EMP weaponry, which can fry the bot faster than you can say: "Please do not interfere with security operations."

All in all, it's a firepower-heavy droid that's built to support infantry elements by raining hellfire upon hostile armor and air assets. A small profile, quadrupedal gait, and powerful proton cannon bears testament to Aegis Systems guarantee of freedom by firepower.
