Private Steal of a Deal

It was a shifty location, which was sure saying something given the shiftiness of the entire planet in general. Nar-shaada; a smugglers haven, well outside the inconveniences of the law. It was also well outside what anyone would consider a safe area, though Crosten felt perfectly fine with the security he carried on his hip.

Besides, he knew right where to go. This wasn’t the sort of place you just go strolling about after all, Crosten was here for a reason and he moved with purpose. For a smuggler, this was a place where good money could be made; and he was here chasing great money. In no time at all he had gotten his speeder to the address, and a large Devaronian guard looked his way before muttering something into a mic. As Crosten approached he took an authoritative step forward, before giving a nod and speaking.

“Name.”

“Crosten.”

“Yeah it’s the guy we sent for.”
He uttered, turning his head to speak into the microphone.

“Go on in.”
He added, nodding his head to Crosten and standing aside to allow his passage.

The building was beside a bustling bar, and the noise of the music and patrons could be heard muffled through the walls. Crosten continued on, wondering where he was to go until the hallway opened up into a room with a table and an older gentleman in a seat at a desk.

“You’re the smuggler then?”
He remarked in an raspy voice that matched his aged appearance; he received an affirmative nod from Crosten in response.

“Good, I’m glad you’ve arrived. No doubt you’d like to know more about the task?”

“There were additional details to discuss, yeah?”

“...One detail that I will offer now. The rest...is dependant upon your acceptance.” the old man replied, looking up towards the smuggler. “The cargo is not in my hands. You’ll need to obtain it yourself, and you should expect it to be guarded.”

“Didn’t expect nothing simple; money as good as you offer don’t ever come easy.”

“I see you are not deterred. Good.” The old man gave the slightest of smiles at that.

“Hell, I’m in.”

“Well then. Let’s get to business shall we? An individual in question has something I want. This is a problem for me, and pay for you. An encrypted datacard containing schematics of high value to me. It is currently in possession of ‘Mako Jiktar’, manager of some establishments over in the city of Agossa. He’s a criminal boss, Crosten. Has his fingers in all sorts of ventures, and had managed to steal that too. Now, I don’t care what happens to him but the cargo? That’s what I need. Now you’ve already accepted the job; bring the item here and you get that pay.”

"Same deal as always, I'll be back with the datacard"

“I trust you won’t loiter on the job. I’m sure I don’t need to warn you that-”

“Yeah yeah, you’re gonna be watching me now. I’m no loose-lip or duty-dodger, that’s all you’re gonna learn.”

The old man grinned again, pleased at the response. With a nod to Crosten he bid him away, leaving the smuggler to set about obtaining his prize.
