ANNAJ
Invictus Aeronautics Shipyards ...
Invictus Aeronautics was now a much larger operation. Na'Varro had made sure that their shipyard space on Annaj had increased exponentially since their ships had started selling on the galactic market. The Shen-Ru Ore Freighter, with its patented cargo hold, was a massive hit in the corporate sector. It was the first really decent ship that Invictus had made; the first top-tier vessel that was the best at a specific role. Now Na'Varro was becoming slightly more ambitious. He had plans for more business, and more business would require more production, and the produce that the increased production would bring would sell for more profit. Because he had every intention of creating something special here. Only, it wasn't as easy as that. Na'Varro was no physicist, and despite Annaj being the capital world of the Fringe Confederacy, he couldn't find anyone with the requisite knowledge to help him with his endeavour. When the General Theory of Relativity had been circumvented thousands of years ago, it had been thrown out the window. No one cared about it anymore, and thus hyperspace travel had put tradition over functionality and comfort.

Oh, and science. That too.

"You're telling me that it's impossible." This was a statement, not a query. Na'Varro's eyes rose imperiously. These 'scientists' were as close-minded as the last bunch.

"Theoretically, no. Practically, yes. To create a field of negative space ... safely and stably, I will add, you need exotic matter. You understand, matter with negative energy density. You understand?"

"Perfectly." Na'Varro growled. He had a basic understanding of physics; exotic matter had been covered. "Though I fail to see the problem."

"Well ... if we could create a stable platform for the theoretical exotic matter to exist, which it has never been proven to do in the first place, there would be all sorts of possible hang-ups. Unfeasably large energy requirements due to quantum irregularities, possible sonic-boom shockwaves when you come out of hyperspace ... all for a smoother journey and a reduced kick when you come out of hyperspace? It doesn't seem worth it."

"You may be right ... I plan on finding that out." Dismissing this group, Na'Varro hoped the next engineer he had called would be of more help. He didn't need someone who did things by the book. He needed someone who was incurably curious.

An appointment with Invictus Aeronautics was a good contract for RI, in fact it could be a very good contract. He understood the basics of what was needed, and he'd spent some time studying the issue until he came up with a few possibilities. If RI could land this first contract in Fringe space it would go quite a bit towards the others he thought, first impressions were of the highest importance. Thus the Firrerreo was dressed in his best suit, which was a hell of a lot better now that he was producing products for RI. As always he preferred a darker color against his gold skin, the two toned hair of his kind show up more as he needed to do less to hide it now that he was in more accepting areas.

Standing outside the CEO's office he looked over his notes a last time before he heard the voice of his receptionist directing him to go in, seems it was that time already. With a smile he thanked the woman before entering, and immediately sized up the man as best he could. He knew the mane was a seasoned veteran, and a member of the Fringe High Council, another reason this contract was important to RI, the development of trust was more paramount in this case then money was. It was only by luck in fact that he was here as he'd been dealing with the Council in charge of economic affairs earlier, otherwise this would have been handled by a sales rep, not an engineer.

Reaching out for a firm handshake Eamon smiled setting up his holoemitter before starting. "Good afternoon, Mr. Na'varro, I appreciate you taking the time out to speak with me. My company has received your request, and I've looked it over from several angles. If I may be so bold, I think you've got a great idea, but you're looking at it wrong. What you want is a smooth ride, you don't want your passengers to even know when they've left real space for hyperspace and vica versa, which is excellent in the type of project you have. I don't think you need to go as far as you are thinking though, instead let me offer you what I believe are two much cheaper possibilities."

Turning on the first emitter showed the blueprints of a ship about the size of what Na'varro was designing, but thin blue lines seemed to snake between the walls and thicker between the bulkheads. "You're a fighter, no? Then you know what its like to get hit in the chest with armor, and you know the bruises it leaves behind. What you also know is that most of that force is absorbed via padding and gel, in many cases thermal gel. Cheap and actually an additional safety feature against internal fires, simply coating the interior walls with thermal gel, and a thick layer under the bulkheads would allow most of the shudder felt from entering and leaving hyperspace to simply be absorbed by the gel itself."

Turning to a second emitter he flicked it on showing the rotating image of the same ship, but with two red colored apparatuses not seen in the first model. "Your second choice is a bit more costly, but will completely cut any chance a passenger would have of feeling the entry and exit out. Gravitic modulators, using one at each end of the ship you can create an artificial gravity field while you enter and leave space. Using two emitters on alternate frequencies they will equalize each other and prevent an area of heavy gravity from forming. You simply use them just when exiting and entering and you'll create an artificial field that will take the effects of the shudder, not the ship itself." Looking back at his possibile client, he gave him a moment to consider his options and the possible choices. He wasn't sure what the other engineers offered him, so he wasn't sure if it was in the ballpark, but he hoped it would work.
