Starling
Still convinced that her Cruiser is a Starfighter.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES :
- Reckless: Her fighter pilot training has left Erinn with the firm belief that you can fly any ship like a starfighter if you try hard enough. Her current assignment as skipper of a multi-thousand tonne cruiser is severely testing this claim.
- Awkward: Starling Seven-Bravo's aggressive attitude in the sky is counterpointed by her quiet and introverted character on the ground. She rarely speaks and when she has to does so quietly. Erinn will go out of her way to avoid interacting with anyone not at the other end of a blaster.
- Maverick: Erinn prefers to obey the spirit of her orders, rather than the letter, and considers the day wasted if she has not found a new way to upset her commanding officer.
- Leeroy Jenkins: Support is for other people. The truly heroic way to tackle an enemy is to dash in ahead of your team and claim the glory for yourself. No way that could possibly go wrong...
- Demanding: Starling places high standards on herself and others around her, taking failure very seriously, although she is more likely to bottle her frustration up and let it gnaw away at her than unleash it on her allies.
+ Pilot Training: Rigorous training as a fighter pilot has given Erinn great skill at the helm of a spacecraft and a strong understanding of orbital mechanics.
+ Reaction Times: The sharp perception and swift reactions of a pilot allow Erinn to respond to potential threats quickly and dexterously enough to weave through the melee of a space battle or dodge rocks in an asteroid field.
+ Quick Witted: While she is a poor tactician (see Leeroy Jenkins), Starling can think on her feet when it comes to finding practical solutions to immediate problems, particularly when that problem is an enemy starship.
APPEARANCE:
Erinn dresses casually unless forced into a uniform, preferring leathers and a half-face helmet. Her hair is worn in a bun at her neck and she carries a holstered blaster on her belt. Her built is fairly light and her muscles somewhat underused, as she spends most of her day strapped into a pilot's seat or hidden away in her quarters. There is a permanent sense about her of tense vigilance, constantly assessing her surroundings, as though preparing to fight or flee.
BIOGRAPHY:
Laval joined the First Order's Stafighter Corps aged 15, where she received training as a pilot for TIE space superiority fighters. She excelled in the cadet programs and was quickly assigned to a squadron of fighters aboard a Star Destroyer. In their first engagement a few months later, Erinn scored not one but two kills and returned alive. She received congratulations all around from her crewmates, but their warm attitudes towards her began to die away as she responded to the attention only with silence and retreat to her quarters. Another two battles brought her up to six kills and the honorary title of Ace. By now, her status as a squadron legend was well established, but the attention it brought only drove her further away from the rest of the crew.
It was not long before her talents were recognised and by the age of 19, she was commanding a squadron of her own. Within the space of three years, Starling 7 Squadron had become infamous, both as a fearsome fighting force and as somewhat of a loose cannon whose regard for orders was... limited. When commanding officers were facing defeat and left with no other option, they would send in Starling 7. However, while their commander's aggressive nature and quick reflexes earned them many victories, their luck would only last so long.
During one engagement, the squadron was scrambled to defend a division of warships against an attack from the Galactic Alliance. Starling Seven Bravo ordered her squadron to attack the enemy directly, but overextended, cutting herself and her wingmates off from support. Surrounded, the squadron was decimated. All but two of the fighters under her command were destroyed and her own vessel severely damaged.
Laval took this failure badly, dissolving into a state of sorrow, which, over time, matured within her to become rage... and that rage became determination. Over the next few months, she was rarely seen outside of the simulator, often forgoing meals and sleep to play through scenario after scenario in an attempt to hone her skills and correct her flaws.
Six months after their defeat, Starling 7's three surviving members were assigned to crew the Gozanti-Class Cruiser Shadowbird. Starling Seven Bravo, a fighter pilot by nature, found the transition to a less agile ship difficult and flew the Shadowbird more like a fighter than a warship. While unorthodox, this strategy did not serve her badly. The Shadowbird's enemies were confused to see a light cruiser pulling off high-G manoeuvres and were downright surprised when it managed to evade their fire and close to kill range on their tail. While the Shadowbird had not been designed for this kind of flying, she was only a little heavier than a heavy bomber and with some practice, Starling Seven Bravo perfected the technique of evasive flying in a cruiser. After four years in command of the Shadowbird, at the age of 26, Starling Seven Bravo was reassigned to command of an Arquitens-Class Light Cruiser. This vessel is considerably heavier and less manoeuvrable than anything she had worked with hitherto and threatens to test her fighter-pilot style of flying to its breaking point.
