Speedruns - Visna

Voss - Silver Jedi Campus Sparring Facility
Today, she had her first true one-on-one session with a student. He was an older teen; a somewhat experienced combatant who had submitted himself to the Jedi Order after abandoning his subservience to the Sith. He was an interesting case in that regard, and Charity suspected there might be a touch of impatience to weed out of him. And sometimes that involved a little hands-on experience and some tough love at the wrong end of a training saber.

She strode in through the doorway of the sparring room, its white walls, floors, and black hashed lines the only significant detail about the spacious chamber. The place was for fighting, and that was what Charity intended to do today.

Grabbing a practice weapon from the provided arsenal, Charity tapped the saber hilt against her hip and eyed her newly arriving student upon his entrance. "Greetings, Padawan," she spoke softly, dissuading any following echoes. The tall Jedi was not one to be heard too often--or at all, in many cases. But she supposed she was a teacher today. And so she must.

Kal walked in the chamber seeming confident, how else are you supposed to look like in front of an opponent? He might as well practice for it. His eyes inspected the jedi for a few moments then moved to look around the room, the chamber was big enough, sure, but there wasn't much he could use to his advantage, this fight may be as he feared, dependent on skill alone. It's all right, when you can't use what is around you, you can still use what you have. Which would be... his armor, oh but not the big scary one, the mostly black part metal part leather one, maybe a bad move... but not necessarily, the agility might be exactly what he needs in this spacious place.

"I see we do it nice and simple... probably for the best." He said not yet looking at Charity but still looking for anything of note around the room. "I especially like the ceiling, it reminds me of my father, never saw anybody so annoying, the jerk burned my first teddy bear." Finally looking at Charity with a smile he grabbed his purple lightsaber yet did not ignite it, instead merely asked "Shall we begin?"

Her first impressions of Visna were irregular, to say the least. The way he stepped in with a cocky grin on his face nearly amused her. She supposed it might be out of habit from his days under the Sith. Conversely, she simply stood with a neutral, humorless steadiness about her eyes. There was so much she kept to her inner self, like the wild confusion about her student's commentary as he flippantly discussed some form of fatherly cruelty from his childhood. He had to be joking, yes?

"Well, uh... Yes." Her saber came to life, the glowing, golden blade of pulsating energy extending from the hilt in her left hand. "If you're ready, of course." She widened her stance just slightly, though the majority of her body was hidden under the traditional cloak she nearly always wore, even when sparring. It was time to appraise his skills.

Kal smirked and threw his lightsaber in the air failing miserably to catch it, he picked it up from the floor with a stupid grin, the grin of the typical guy who messes up things. If he knew he actually managed to confuse Charity he'd be proud of himself. The environment wasn't offering him anything and Charity's skills presumably surpasses his, but he was going to throw all his skills in, not just fighting, if he learned anything from his years as a sith and jedi is that both sides sometimes have misconceptions about each other. "Right then..." With those words he ignited his purple lightsaber, despite this he believed he will loose this battle, which is always fine IF your enemy doesn't know right? "So... I'll just... Attack first I suppose? Yeah..."

A few moments of silence and inaction followed, his face emotionless, his body unmoved, he was channeling the force in an attempt to enhance his physical abilities more than usual. He eventually rushed forward with all the speed he could muster, once close enough, he'd proceed to strike Charity with his lightsaber, there was little doubt he'd manage to avoid or parry, but that was fine, the whole point was the surprise, he had to keep the unknown on his side.

She furrowed her brow at the antics of this apprentice, almost taken aback with confusion and wondering if she even had the right person. [member="Kal Visna"], right? His grin was puzzling, and Charity hoped with all her heart that he was just playing out some prank as far as clumsiness was concerned. If he was fooling around for this duel of theirs, she was going to be severely disappointed. It would be disrespectful on his part at the least.

There was surprisingly little hesitation in commencing the spar as soon as he had activated his weapon. He charged in a seemingly mindless fashion towards her and attempted to lay a blow across her body, which she cast aside with a one-handed parry, deflecting her student's purple blade to the left and away from her body. Intending to punish him for his recklessness, the tall Jedi jutted her right foot out to kick at Kal's shins.

This was... interesting. She supposed that was a way to describe the events so far.

Expecting a lightsaber strike, Kal notices the real strike almost too late, but he manages to retract his leg and fall back a little still getting some pain out of it he made a sad-like face like a puppy in the meantime waving his lightsaber 2 times around, for which... she wouldn't even need to try an avoid or parry. That was close, could've screwed up the whole thing before he even begun. Seems like this is as far as he could go, whether Charity was severely underestimating him or not, it was now or never.

Kal held his head up for a second moment when she could get a glimpse of his face, this time dead serious. Without delays he jumped over [member="Charity Luckless"] in an attempt to land behind her, whether she'd turn around or not, he'd launch a flurry of fast attacks, some aimed at the abdomen, other at the legs or shoulder, unlike his first attempts, these ones were well coordinated and disciplined, his face was never changing during the whole process and his eyes moved to watch out of Charity's reactions. If he did it right, this may actually keep her occupied a few moments or maybe help him score a hit here or there, but after this is over? Well so is the surprise, and then if he doesn't manage to use this opportunity right here and now, the 2% chance of victory he has given himself will become nonexistent.
