Internt: To give Maleificar SS a long range assault rifle, with deadly accuracy, and automatic fire. versatile, and effective. You know the spirals that are in the barrel? That give the bullet the spin? The spiral will be made closer together to give a more accurate fire. Give them a weapon that can be fired in high gravity planets. Has two gas systems, normal, and high. with tighter spirals and high gas powered systems, this will have more accuracy fired in these battlefields, and give a a fire rate fast enough to shot fired like it would normally in normal gravity.

Dev Thread: N/A (will make if needed)

Model: None

Affiliation: The Horde

Modularity: None

Production: Minor

Material: Insides will be Durasteel, casing is Carbo -plas.

Description: The Specter is much like any other AR, besides its ability to switch gas systems with a press of a button, similar to that of switching fire rate, but instead of the gas system being throttled, a whole new gas system is switched from normal automatic, to increased automatic. The idea is that with the increased fire rate, where gravity is heavierr, it will proceed to have a normal fire rate. A scope comes attached already, as well as a silencer. It only comes in black.
Because the spirals are so tight, water that gets inside the barrel tends to throw the bullet off balance.

Strengths:
High Gravity Capablility: where weight would be increased, thus slowing a bullet, the higher powered gas system allows it to be fired at a normal rate.
Tight Rifling: The rifling as been tighten just to the point its at its most accurate, shooting almost always at dang your pointing at.

Weakness:
Jamming: Switching back and forth between the gas systems 4 times Will cause it to jam. Drenched: After heavy rain exposure, it loses 200 yards of accuracy, bring a rain coat, and the gas system is stuck to its setting until dried off.

Alright. Let's get to work.

First, in your intent, what you've described is called "rifling" in the barrel. Rifling spins the bullet, or slug in SW terminology, to create an accurate projectile. Now, tighter rifling is great and all, but if you make it too tight, you overspin the bullet which will reduce accuracy just as much as if you didn't spin the bullet enough.

Moving on, this would not be effective underwater in its current form. Underwater guns use steel darts, not standard bullets. The barrels are also not rifled for underwater weapons. Hydrodynamics are what keep the steel dart fired in line and accurate. Underwater use has nothing to do with standard ammunition or rifling. Also, underwater firearms are inaccurate outside of water.

Low gravity and even low/no atmosphere have little negative effect on bullets. In fact, lower gravity and/or little to no atmosphere makes the bullet travel further.

Finally, gas systems generally require changing out the actual piston system in a weapon. An interchangable, push button system is plausible, but will most definitely be prone to misfires, jams, and weapon malfunctions/failures. Not to mention potentially breaking itself.

@ me when edits are made and we'll go from there.
